  1. “Hard right” is something of a movable feast. Neither National nor NZ first are hard right I think. If they were, they’d privatise everything, including the health system. And Winston certainly wouldn’t do that because he’s supported by a lot of old people. Now act is another thing altogether. They would in fact privatise everything if they managed to gain enough power. National definitely has hard right people in it, but it also has a number of centrists. They might balk if anyone took to the health system for instance. I haven’t taken much interest in the Labour Party since 1984, so I don’t know if they have any RWNJ’s left – wouldn’t surprise me though.

  2. Anyone who has children to someone who is old enough to be her Grandfather and has the heart age of a 90 year old is a bit hard right in the brain.

Soper kicks the bucket relatively soon…inevitable..she loses her job….whose paying to bring up her kids…Luxon , Seymour and the tooth fairy?….. I don’t think so!!!

She wants to be careful what she wishes for…life is constant change and the rights desire to burn down the village and throw the remains off a cliff will come back to bite her in the arse…

  3. “We have allowed the Taxpayers’ Union to plumb the darkest parts of NZs racism for money and influence which saw 3 Waters killed off and is now costing us all more!”

Well yes, but that’s only part of the story isn’t it. It’s not just a deception to stir racism and win an election, and as a result we all pay more because the government are incompetent.

It is a war over water. The payouts will be huge for those select few in the know. Expect the Mowbrays, Todds and Talleys to be right in amongst it.

Not everyone will be paying more. Think what happened with CPW. John Key, “no one owns water”. “The proceeds from the sale of the energy companies will be used to build schools, hospitals and infrastructure”. Well no, they were used to pay for CPW and the subsequent water rights were gifted to rich listers who just happened to have bought large sections of the Canterbury Plains just beforehand.

Now that would be a book looking at who shared in those hundreds of billions of profits from the subsequent land conversion and destruction of the aquifers and waterways.

These people never act in 2 dimensions. They will get you the taxpayer to pay for assets like hydro, irrigation or hospitals. They will sell it to their mates for a song and then get you to pay monopoly prices and for any upkeep forever in the future while they walk away with their billions.

And get the majority to vote for it along the way.

  4. The likes of du Plessis-Allan, Penk and Grant will all attempt to discredit Nicky Hager’s work – no surprises there. What is a bit surprising is the flimsiness of their arguments. Penk in particular – what a shocker! Unintended satire.
