MEDIAWATCH: Ryan Fox’s favourite pie shop isn’t a news story

I don’t wish to sound critical brothers and sisters, but a news story while I was in Hospital caught my eye and reminded me why we can’t have a functioning fourth estate media in this country.

Somehow the news editors of Aotearoa New Zealand decided that a story about Ryan Fox’s favourite pie shop being broken into was worthy of wall to wall coverage.

The shop was a little upset and needed a cuddle. Ryan Fox was contacted for comment and neighbours said ‘it was a nice area and these things never happened around here”.

This may be the dumbest news story in NZ media history and I’m including everything Seven Sharp does weeknights.

I’ve heard of a slow news day, but this is a News Coma.
