Winston Peters says the country needs to return to “the basic democratic principle that the right to decide New Zealand’s future belongs to New Zealand citizens”. Now his party wants the law changed.
…NZ First are promising two things.
The first is to strip all permanent residents of their voting rights. This is 700 000 people.
The second thing NZ First are promising is baby bonuses for pure bloods. If you are a permanent resident and you have a baby with another permanent resident, you get nothing.
NZ First want to scapegoat the mud bloods and set in motion the greatest civil conflict since the signing of the Treaty.
Taxation without representation is one of the great sins, but Cohen and NZF don’t care because their brand of Gumboot Fascism feeds on this kind of divisiveness.
Imagine telling all those permanent residents that they can’t vote and will be permanently made poorer because they don’t pass Winston’s race purity test?
Imagine the low level civil war that would be sparked as 700 000 people stripped of their voting rights start to purposely sabotage the system every day in every way to show their incandescent rage at being disenfranchised.
NZF and Cohen WANT that level of social cohesion collapse because that’s where their malice and spite can find more traction.

This is the same David Cohen who votes in New Zealand elections despite being a nominal ‘dual citizen’ and in fact solely loyal to that other ‘citizenship’… hmmm.

I encouraged my wife who is not Nz citizen to get a passport from a EU country so she could go and support her aging mother be fore she died This allowed me live and work in a E U country ,also vote in a city regional election if I desired Thus hundreds of thousands of NZ residents won’t be voting for NZ first .I recently wrote to a Green M P to push the message in immigrant community a vote for Nat Act is a vote for NZ first racist policy’s towards immigrants

It could be argued that just like the German Nazis, that is Peters goal.
Go to India and become a permanent resident and try to vote in their elections, go to China, go to the USA, or Germany, or wonderful Canada, or our neighbours Australia. In fact NZ is one of only a handful of countries that allow non citizens to vote.
To have a debate about voting rights is a legitimate thing.
