Sorry to hear that Peter. I lost a 20 year friendship when a friend went down the rabbithole back in the early nauties. The nature of his job meant he literally only had to work 4 months a year. He spent the rest of his time online and ten years later had completely left reality for the hellish paranoia of the conspiracy world.
I spent years debating him, and the one positive to come out of it was I trained myself to become a credible researcher, using Auckland Uni and others websites to learn the rules for researching to PhD study standards.

After that, I EASILY found out the 9/11 “truthers” were barking up the wrong tree, the climate deniers were the real conspiracy funded by fossil fuel, crop circles are a hilarious hoax and anti-vaxxers have had their minds poisoned by a selfish, big-headed British GP who wants revenge on the medical profession for rejecting his own version of a vaccine.
