Imagine if the middle east was full of hopeful prosperous countries like UAE, Oman, Qatar, Israel, Jordan and increasingly even Saudi Arabia. None of these places are perfect but they are increasingly hopeful. Hope is the ultimate antidote to war. None of these places is perfect – far from it – but there is hope. Trump may be a bull in a China store and his motives might be hard to read/trust, but some things are plainly a moral responsibility. Dismantling the hate infrastructure of Iran is one of them and is massively overdue. Ask the people of Syria, Yemen, Gaza, Lebanon , Iraq and of course Iran itself. And I notice you never mention Iran having made Russia’s drones for killing and terrorizing Ukrainians. But Martyn, you can mouth off and indulge your moral cowardice and isolationism from the comfort of your Takapuna sofa. So long as YOU don’t have to pay more for petrol, the victims of this horrific regime and its proxies should just go on living (and dying) in the face of its ongoing threats, terror and attacks.
