“Pasifika and Māori people are routinely denied access to the resources needed to keep themselves and their families healthy.”

This is asserted, without evidence to support it. What is meant by this claim?

“Pasifika have higher rates of preventative illnesses than any other ethnic group in New Zealand….”

I assume that what the spokesperson means here is “preventable”. Note that term: preventable.

The numbers of coronavirus cases here in NZ have been very low: I don’t think it wise to draw conclusions about susceptibility from such a small dataset.

The latest MoH figures show that cases and deaths for both Maori and Pacific people are much lower than for Europeans and for Asians: both actual numbers and percentages. See this:

Nobody (except the current government, it seems) disagrees with the need for incomes in NZ’s poorest areas to be higher. But it’s important to present solid evidence, not just claims and assertions.

Much of the health problem is due to them being over weight which is known to lead to a worse outcome if covid strikes .
There leaders both civil and religious should ecourge them away from fast food .It is not healthy and really it is not cheap.
Churches like Destiny need to stop tithing 10% to give them more money and they should be shown how limiting the size of their family will help both them and their children. It does not seem fair to the rest of us that one group jumps the queue .

From the massive sample of 126 people we can can conclude if you are over 50 and are obese then you have a much bigger chance of being hospitalised. Guess which areas have the largest concentration of takeaways.
