#Clip: My Final Word: I Spent 8 Days in NZ’s Public Health System

This week, Martyn’s Final Word is personal.
After spending eight days inside New Zealand’s public health system, Martyn has a message for Aotearoa ahead of the 2026 election: vote for the common good.
From ambulance dispatchers and cleaners to orderlies, technicians, nurses and doctors, he witnessed exhausted health workers doing everything they could in increasingly difficult circumstances.
Martyn argues these people represent the very best of New Zealand — and that our responsibility as citizens is to give them the resources they need to care for us all.
This isn’t about telling you who to vote for. It’s about asking what kind of country we want to be.
A country driven by division, grievance and private interests?
Or one that stands with the young, the old, the vulnerable, the disabled, the voiceless and the poor?
Health Minister Simeon Brown says there is no emergency in our public health system.
Martyn has just spent eight days inside it.
He disagrees.
Stand for a better us, not a more bitter us. Vote for the common good.
In solidarity, the revolution continues.
