If you see cops hassling the homeless it’s your duty to step in and start filming

With the Police now gaining the power to arrest the homeless, you all have an obligation if you see cops hassling the homeless to immediately start filming it.
Police body cameras have a habit of ‘not working’ when they get confrontational.
Most homeless won’t have any idea this law has passed and so will view the new tactics as not possible.
People with extreme mental health and addiction issues are likely to get aggressive when Police start this which will require more force by the Police.
It’s important when you see this happening that you immediately start filming what goes down so that there is an independent witness to what occurs.
This is a terrible and cruel policy, we must be vigilant against its use.
Independent Media is more important than ever, especially in the lead up to the Election. TDB is the largest Left Wing Blog in NZ and we have been operating for 13 years. We get zero funding from NZonAir and we don’t have no rich backers. If you can donate please do so here or directly into our account –12-3065-0133561-56

F**king A.
Anyone doing this should be aware of their rights. And make sure- if pigs (and if they’re actually enforcing these laws, that is the correct term), request that you move away while filming such an occurrence, make sure that you get them recorded ordering you to move away, and make sure that you’re also recorded speaking in a calm voice to confirm from them that they are indeed asking you to move away so that their actions can’t be caught on camera.
If you’re not disturbing the peace, they can’t do jack to stop you. Nor can they, legally, demand your name, address, DOB to harass you later (unless you’re driving a vehicle).
