Donald Trump claims ‘sick conspiracy’ against AI helping China, rejects calls for regulation
Donald Trump has aggressively pushed back on calls to regulate AI developmentin the US, claiming there is a “sick conspiracy” against the technology.
Pressure is building in Washington for urgent action to rein in AI’s rapid development after a flurry of dire warnings from industry leaders.
But the US president has used social media to say the only protection necessary is a “high IQ” president.
He suggested regulating AI would only help China get ahead of the US, and he criticised Dario Amodei, the CEO of AI giant Anthropic who published an essay about AI’s dangers over the weekend.
“The only control or ‘guardrails’ that AI needs is a STRONG AND SMART (High IQ!) PRESIDENT, and the U.S.A. has that, in spades!” he wrote.
“The Trump Administration has stopped AI ‘people’ from doing bad, or potentially bad, ‘things,’ like Dario (Anthropic!), who is now pretending to be a ‘perfect little angel’ – and we will continue to do so!
“We already have tremendous CRIMINAL and REGULATORY power over these companies! There is a SICK conspiracy going on against AI and Data Centers, and the only one that is happy about it is China.”

The speed with which Frontier AI is expanding and the Trillions being poured into being the first to create recursive self-improving AI mans that realistically we won’t get a second chance to stop it running amok.
If Trump is our protector from AI, we are screwed.
What fascinated me most about the recent AI scandals is what the engineers expected to measure vs what happened.
They put these frontier n models into AI sandbox’s and posed challenges and tasks.
What the engineers expected was to see the thinking process and the deliberation.
What happened was that the models immediately set out to solve the task, realised they couldn’t from the sandbox and then just broke out and started interacting ting in the real world.
The expectation of monitoring the thinking process was utterly eclipsed by its capacity.
That in itself highlights the mismatch between what the human handlers think they can control and the real capacity of what they’ve built.
We are at a Frankenstein moment technologically.
We are the creator of a super intelligence that will be utterly alien to us.
We feared sentient AI would be the trigger for our demise, but recursive self-improving AI will be the pathway to lesser gods with just as much capacity to destroy.
The inevitability of recursive self-improving AI will be the ultimate genie we can’t put back into the bottle.
