One way to ensure that human rights in West Papua are respected by Indonesia is to work for justice and accountability for the many crimes committed by Indonesia’s security forces in Timor-Leste. Please sign the East Timor and Indonesia Action Network’s petition supporting the recommendations of Timor’s Truth Commission. Among them is a call for an international tribunal to bring to those responsible for ordering, carrying out and supporting (with military arms and training) Indonesia’s illegal invasion and occupation. Maire Leadbetter knows about Indonesia and how it operates. Her concerns for West Papua should be echoed by all thinking NZs. It is hard to keep up with clowns to the left and right for the people stuck in the middle with constant violence.
Could we email PM Ardern and adk her to raise West Papua and how the violence seems to be increasing – can it be stopped?
