Erica Stanford’s claims of educational ideological stacking after ideologically stacking education is political hypocrisy at its most inane

As far as I am concerned, when it comes to Education and Health, get the politicians out of the room!
Actually, add Justice, Jails, climate change policy and state housing to that list as well.
But let’s stick with Health and Education.
One reason I am very against this unilateral decision to stop puberty blockers from being used in NZ for Trans kids is because the ONLY people making those decisions should be the bloody Dr and the patient!
There shouldn’t be a politician in that room.
I am immensely supportive of Labour’s announcement on independent education body because we need to get the bloody politicians out of the room and allow the educators, teachers and academics design the best curriculum as opposed to political appointees.
Kids need reading, writing and maths — they don’t need the curriculum rewritten every three years depending on who won the election.
Education should have a lesson plan, not an election cycle!
Erica Stanford wants politicians marking the country’s homework. I’m betting teachers, researchers and education experts might know a little more about education than the Cabinet focus group!
Erica Stanford’s claims of educational ideological stacking after ideologically stacking education is political hypocrisy at its most inane!
SHE stacked far right Atlas Network appointees to mutilate the curriculum and then has the audacity to claim education boards with actual Teacher as opposed to far right activists is “ideological stacking”…
“Elizabeth Rata has had a significant influence on the direction of education over the last 18 months. So, what she believes is important, especially given those changes have been driven and done by a small group of ideologically aligned people.”
…Rata is a far right educational activist linked to the Atla Network FFS – Erica is accusing Labour of what she is actually doing!
I’ve been commentating on NZ Politics for 31 years and I have never, ever seen an Education Minister turn on the Teachers Union with the level of anger Erica just showed. She said that the Teachers Union was, and I quote, ““scaremongering in defence of mediocrity” and called them, and I quote again, “disgusting”.
Don’t you wish she had shown that kind of backbone when rolling Luxon?

Independent Media is more important than ever, especially in the lead up to the Election. TDB is the largest Left Wing Blog in NZ and we have been operating for 13 years. We get zero funding from NZonAir and we don’t have no rich backers. If you can donate please do so here or directly into our account –12-3065-0133561-56

What it all means underneath is that National have always hated teachers.
They hate teachers because teachers encourage children to think for themselves, question what they see and hear and not accept things just because they have always been like that.
The political right thrives upon keeping the masses educated only to a lower level and thereby compliant and uncomplaining. Their biggest fear is “intellectual lefties” because these can see through National Party b..s in an instant and have the potential to make other people start asking questions.
National and ACT would dearly love to take control of school carriculums to weed out potential future troublemakers like union leaders and climate change scientists. Charter schools are one day of achieving this.
You never hear National or ACT mentioning the words “knowledge economy” do you?
So do you honestly believe the Labour and their union mates wouldn’t stack an “independent” board with their mates and persons that share similar ideologies re education…..
Let’s be honest here.
