Chippy rule out Winston’s racism – this is what political leadership looks like

Winston could have apologised.
He could have de-escalated.
He could have been the statesman he once was.
But he couldn’t and Chippy has shown what actual political leadership looks like and has finally ruled out NZ First.
By drawing a red line under Winston, we have a very clear difference.
The racist Right vs the Collective Left.
A vote for National enables NZ First.
If National, ACT and NZF are returned with a far weaker National, the next 3 years will be unhinged.
Chippy is showing what basic decency looks like.
We should celebrate that.

Political leadership means recognizing that most of us aren’t interested in the correct pronoun or being not prepared to talk to one political Leader because he is a racist.
There seems to be no political leadership in the parties that are represented in parliament.
What they have in common is their own political entitlements and personal wealth that we pay for while they treat many of our people with contempt as they allow the system that delivers so much wealth and kick backs for MP’s while they are forcing many to starve or freeze in their homes and units.
Ruling one nasty group for another is not political leadership but a cynical move to provide a diversion from how appalling and cruel they are and the system they are addicted to.

… The announcement followed weeks of pressure on Hipkins to firm up his position after Peters told a Chinese-born Green MP to “go back to your own country”, prompting calls for him to be sacked as Foreign Affairs Minister.
Speaking to media last week, Hipkins had gone only as far as to say it was “highly unlikely” Labour would end up working with Peters following November’s election.
The NZ First leader himself has previously criticised Labour and the media for continuing with the issue, saying his own party had ruled out Labour long ago…..
…. Peters added today: “Why the media aren’t lambasting him for ‘ruling NZ First out’ after we ruled him out four years ago, then again twelve months ago, and repeatedly done so every month when answering the same stupid questions, is beyond a joke.”
Last week, Hipkins had said Peters “cannot be Minister of Foreign Affairs” but repeatedly declined to give a flat rule-out when pressed, saying he would “set out the principles” on which Labour would approach post-election deals closer to the campaign…..
Why is this important?
The most courageous thing that Chris Hipkins could do right now, is declare that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza.
Chris Hipkins refuses to make this call because he knows that if he declared that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza while in opposition, he would have to act on that declaration in government.
New Zealand is legally bound by international convention and New Zealand law to prevent and punish the crime of genocide. Chris Hipkins and Christopher Luxon can avoid our international legally binding responsibility to the genocide convention by denying that genocide is happening.
Courage is being rewarded
The current Mayor of New York Zohran Mamdani won, running in the biggest Jewish city outside Israel, every other candidate for Mayor denied the genocide in Gaza, and universally accused Mamdani of being an anti-Semite for his stance on Gaza.
In the US establishment Democratic polticians that deny the genocide in Gaza are losing primary elections to Democratic Socialists, In the UK Local body politicians who denied the genocide in Gaza lost to Green Party candidates.
Voters who are witnessing genocide on their smart phones and devices, respect politicians that call it out.
Voters know instinctively that politicians that have the courage to call out genocide when they see it, also have the courage to impose wealth taxes to pay for social programs that benefit the majority.
It may be anecdotal, but I have been surprised that some long time loyal Labour voters have told me that they will not be voting at all this election.
Voters want politicians with the courage to stand up to the establisment.
Chris Hipkins and Christopher Luxon may not like it, but the genocide in Gaza is the ruler by which all politicians are being measured against.

Winston peters is a bullshit artist with a streak of back-street mean and not the classy sort neither. Whinny’s what you get when you run out of poodles pretending to be Pitbulls. If only the left could translate this into meaningful election tactics, such one or more parties not standing candidates in certain electorates to help the chances of another to win. When your voting block is opposing a ragtag of greedy neo-liberals, rich-list employees and racist demagogues you have to get creative but Labour steadfastly refuses to discuss such things.
