Ceuta and the spectacle of collapse
At first I didn’t understand the narrative.
I know Ceuta is in Africa, so didn’t immediately appreciate the anti-immigration scaremongering that erupted on social media from right wing influencers.
The endless images of the snaking desperate writhing humanity we were flooded with had a tinge of hysteria from Western Commentators.
My interest was what the Christ had triggered so many to rush entry into a Spanish enclave that they must have known couldn’t actually get them to Europe – because they are still in Africa, but the fascination from Trump, to Musk to every right wing influencer with a live stream spoke of something far more troubling.
Firstly, why?

Russia-linked social media accounts frequently spread destabilising narratives in Europe, often promoting far-right talking points about immigration.
But 411 and other experts suggest the scale and coordination of the disinformation that followed the Ceuta crisis is significant. Groups spreading disinformation are more organised and powerful than they were several years ago.

The Russian’s connected with our Western fears as we watched those desperate sinews of humanity squeeze the coastline into a knot of flesh.
It was the zombie apocalypse live-streamed and it fed all those gnawing fears because we appreciated the righteousness of their misery.
We knew that if we were in their position, living in poverty and hopelessness with the shining gates of Heaven mocking us, we would tear it down and flee inside with all the same anguish as they were.
Their frenzy would be our frenzy.
As the planet faces catastrophic climate change, the level of refugees fleeing fallen burnt lands will only intensify these emotions as those in the lifeboats fear getting tipped out by those desperately trying to enter.
No one manipulates quite like the Russians.

Actually if you saw videos of trucks pulling up full of young Morrocan males while the Morrican police directed the Youth to Ceuta border you would realise this is linked to Morrocco which is pissed of the current Spanish Government Support West Sahara a former Spanish colony occupied illegally by Morroco Spain has better relations with Algeria that has many refugees from West Sahara who who want a referendum on Independence of West Sahara .Also Morroco is Pro Israel as West Sahara is Morroco Palestine parallel ie occupied indigenous people with out any political or economic rights Free Palestine Free West Sahara as well Free West Papua the last three places that need to be decolonised
There are clips of the young migrants explaining Morrocan police were waving them across the border. Apparently its a response to Spain softening its support of Morroco in Morroco v Algeria in the Sahara.
Observed that all the migrants that swam across the border were guys. It makes you wonder if Morrocan girls arent taught to swim?

They want to hide something or draw attention away from certain political matters, the immigration card is the trick to play. It is why immigration is always in the news, all over the world. You’re mistaken Martyn! 🙂 Morocco, though Moslem is a firm ally of Israel. Spain has been very critical of Israel lately and has refused the US landing rights in its airlift against Iran. This invasion of mostly young people was enabled as pay back by the complicit Moroccan government. Nothing to do with Russia! 🙂
