By ruling out TOP, Luxon has misdiagnosed why voters are fleeing National in the first place.
TOP is drawing second generation migrant communities and Gen Xers locked out of the property market.
TOP voters are the kids of National voting parents who live in the cities.
They are too rich to vote Labour and not Māori enough to vote Green but they are horrified by the race baiting and cruelty of National, NZF and ACT.
They are leaving National BECAUSE they are disgusted by what National have allowed NZF and ACT to get away with.
Luxon trying to cauterise National losing more votes to TOP by ruling them out is a misdiagnosis about why they are fleeing in the first place.
If you have an education, aren’t held hostage by the farming lobby and believe in climate change, you know a vote for National is a vote for ACT and NZF, that is why TOP have popped and are so close to 5%.
The issue now Luxon has ruled them out is how could a Labour/Green/TPM/ TOP Government work together?

Elected without much of a plan, National signed coalition deals with ACT and NZ First which puts the latter two parties in the policy driving seat and lets them call the shots. All the polls show National will lose seats in the election, so even if the regime manages to retain power by election rigging, National will have less power in it than they do at present. Which means even more NZ First and ACT policy, and even less of National’s.

Every time Luxon speaks he puts his foot back in his mouth. He was never going to be our brightest PM by a long shot but can’t seem to get it right – that the less said, is often best. Once he starts pontificating he can’t seem to stop. He seriously can’t even consider that this CoC-up’s lack of decent, caring policies for ALL, is the main problem. Plus the lies, corruption and cruelty towards those whose jobs have been removed. Not everyone on the street is there because they don’t want to work – they no longer have a job, a home and some have even lost their families. Shame on you Luxon for giving so much to those who were already sorted and leaving, thousands, with no place to live or income to live off. Now the horrible Upston is attacking the Job Seeker payment! All this while the CoC run amok destroying our cultural heritage! It’s disgraceful behaviour so it shouldn’t be rewarded 7/11! Current older RW voters could learn a huge lesson from their offspring!
