This happened between 3 – 4 am. Wouldn’t it have been better to isolate the guy (they had spiked his car) and close the highway BEFORE they ‘had’ to kill him? He had a machete, not a gun, and he was obviously out of his mind, he would have calmed down eventually. Very sad. He was a victim, the police are not handling mentally ill people in these situations humanly. Do they know how to?

There is no doubt the police policy is to “shoot to kill”.
I have known police officers who quite frankly should not have access to a night stick let alone to fire arms.
Not all police officers are of the right stuff to serve and protect.

Yes, I noticed this …YET ANOTHER death by police shooting.
As if they don’t already cause enough deaths by their car chases.

WHATEVER HAPPENED to shoot to disable?

I notice these days its shoot to kill. Followed by media whitewashing- few facts & let reader assume it was necessary.

There was another case not long ago, and I noticed the SAME thing.

YES this is a very disturbing new trend .

Where is all the detail of this event in the report? Who,how,where, why, what were the difficulties in apprehending this person? How dangeroue or unstable was the person Are we supposed to form an opinion just because an offender was shot. Do tell us more!

Bugger the tasters shoot them all, he wanted to die,obviously a nut and police duly obliged.
Looks like suicide by cop and I guess the cop must feel pretty bad for killing the individual.
Guess he’ll be wiping his bottom for sometime , to kill someone and walk way thinking a job well done could be hard to morally justify.

You were not there, you have no idea. What I do know is that confronting someone at 4.00AM (in total darkness) wielding a machete is not for the faint hearted or under equipped.

Tasers have limitations, as do batons or just trying to reason with someone.

Now go and wipe your bottom.
