Angry Teachers and Brown Shirt private militia – why is ACT so focused an letting other individuals touch you?
ACT want to empower Teachers to manhandle rowdy kids and security guards to be able to physically restrain people – why does a Party of the Individual like ACT get so excited about letting others arrest the individual?
ACT wants to paramilitarize private security forces in what vaguely looks like what one would call a proto-militia.
Think of ICE without the guns or budget, or legal oversight.
I’m not sure any of us would be safer allowing ACT to start the formation of private militia by giving security guards the power to detain you, physically over power you, take down your details AND conduct searches of your person!
You can’t be this collectively stupid to give the most right wing party the DNA for a private militia.

Manhandling kids out of a classroom for disruption and handing them over to the cops isn’t a solution. It is a problem looking to create more problems.

I don’t think allowing ACT Party Voting Christian Teachers who belive in spare the crowbar, spoil the child should be allowed anywhere near our kids.
You give kids a second, third, fourth and fifth chance BECAUSE THEY ARE KIDS!
Isolating them and quarantining them and casting them out writes those kids off.
What schools need are more councillors and wrap around services and a Teacher’s aid in each classroom.
I’m not saying disruptions are good and we should absolutely minimise their impact on the collective learning of the kids, we all agree 100% with that, but this alpha bullshit routine to give teachers the powers to grab kids is so backwards.
These kids don’t need to be fined, excluded, manhandled or punished. They need care and empathy and understanding and help and support and encouragement!

I will question your description of a hard core Christian Teacher as that is not following the example set by Christ. Self sacrificing love is how hearts are changed and why we are warning against any combination of religion and state (Jn 18:36) and is demonstrated during the dark ages and by those theocratic states that exist now. Any teacher like you describe is identified in Jn 16:2 as a false believer. I know many genuine Christian teachers and they wouldn’t bash children or vote for ACT although I’m aware that there are people like you describe.
I completely agree with the comments that Paul Henry made and this is off the back of having 1 kid leave school a couple of years ago / 2 currently in college / 3 currently in primary and my wife working in a college .. last that I heard (from my wife only a few days ago) is that Year 9’s are barking at female teachers (prob some Andrew Tate etc shit) and again with total impunity.

Have you ever considered the concept of us all still being under the jackboots of the proponents of neoliberalism? Act, is the tip of rogers nob-end and remember, the rodge infected us with neoliberalism nearly 40 years ago and nothing’s changed on that level while our politic has become a zombie-society and sinking and our economy’s fucked. More over, our politic isn’t ours, it’s neoliberalism and that ain’t a politic and the sovereignty we’ve had of our AO/NZ’s dead and what we hoped were our politicians are rich, egomaniacal losers instead. I mean, how is it ok for us to pay the bald loopy $550,000.00 plus perks, coke and hookers PA while we must walk past families living in the decorative shrubbery along K Road? We no longer need politics as much as we need psychiatric evaluations followed up by intervention.

I can’t see too many teachers wanting to manhandle kids. Unless there are in immediate danger to others. Most of them are reasonably peaceable characters. I remember when the teachers went on strike and had a march on Parliament – number of police observation people – two. Quite insulting really.
Acts stupid policies like this show they are desperate and we know they are when they recruited a dick head like Henry. Also, many of our teachers are women do they expect them to man handle bad boys and what about the misogynistic behaviors of some boys in NZ classrooms why hasn’t this issue been dealt with and sorted.

I was a teacher, a very short teacher. I had no desire whatsoever to man-handle children. How would I have done that? It would have made me look stupid and I would have lost the respect of the others, especially if the child were to turn around and man-handle me instead.
I suggest Paul Henry goes into classrooms and shows us all how it is to be done, actually demonstrate. Don’t tell me teachers would receive training and pass the law. Actually go and do it Mr. Henry, if it’s so easy.
Trust a loud-mouthed, know-all from the ‘world of entertainment’ to think this is a good idea.
If this is how things are done in charter schools, it’s a good reason to stay away from them.
Teachers are trying to behave like adults, not like whiney children who resort to physical confrontation to solve problems. Luxon should be backing teachers up on this. Resolving things like adults!!!!!
Good news is that there are two charter schools approved for neurodivergent children. Both opening term one 2027.
Would this behaviour be sanctioned there?
If children are neurodivergent the last thing they need is security guard bullies hovering over them.
Their problems would be exacerbated and there’d likely be more kids unsettled and being ‘little s–ts’.
