High-profile TV host turned Act list candidate Paul Henry’s campaign tour took an unusual turn into a country pub near Dannevirke.
Henry yesterday visited the politically charged Black Dog Tavern in Makotuku near Dannevirke, where he found about 60 enthusiastic supporters to share a tipple with.
He’d been invited to the pub by owner Brendon Wilson, who made headlines when he controversially held a book burning event for former PM Jacinda Ardern’s autobiography in March.

Choosing to go to a book burning pub ablaze with the fucking Confederate Flag to drum up votes is akin to the KKK looking for laundry brand endorsements.

Honestly, I’m not sure why Henry didn’t join NZ First, that party seems more appropriate for his views on humanity. Perhaps he tried but Shane and Winston didn’t want any rivals for their attention.
But it seems strange that a party (ACT) that has for so long prided itself on its intellectualism goes for the lowest common denominator.
They will say and do anything for votes, so it seems.
Look, I tried to burn that book myself to light the open fire, but despite all the greasy schmaltz contained within, it simply would not burn properly. They used fire retarding ink to print the thing. So instead I had to use Kiri Allen’s book to light the fire…worked!
You’d have been better off with Paul Henry’s “what was I thinking?” Because it must consist only of blank pages.
