You can see why this Right wing Government are focused on trying to limit the Waitangi Tribunal after the Tribunal has once again proven its worth by denouncing the latest attack on the Treaty, The Regulatory Standards Bill.
The Tribunal ruled that the Regulatory Standards Bill breached the Treaty, because the legislation would generate huge and enormous impacts on all law without any discussion whatsoever with Måoridom.
This is Aotearoa New Zealand, you can’t just ram through law that will have an enormous impact on the Treaty without talking to Måori!
Come on, how many times have we seen this play from the Crown?
So the Tribunal ruled that the Government should immediately halt the Regulatory Standards Bill, which is the right decision, but people need to understand what the Regulatory Standards Bill actually is to fully appreciate just how terrible it could be.
The argument behind the law is that red tape and bureaucracy hinder growth and resource use of individuals, companies and corporations. The legislation would create a vetting council of corporate interests to ensure their property rights aren’t being compromised for human rights by Parliament.
This corporate interest panel would then look at all law and legislation to ensure their property rights were not compromised. The argument is that unshackled from oppressive regulation the economy will boom and grow.
It’s like allowing corporations to vet all our laws before Parliament has even heard the debate.
Corporations and Billionaires want structures like this built into our Democracy to ensure their interests are given prominence over our collective well being, Treaty obligations and environmental protections.
The Treaty Referendum Bill was an appallingly racist and spiteful piece of legislation that eroded Måori sovereignty.
The Regulatory Standards Bill is a dangerous erosion of our collective sovereignty.

How many days will the old coot Peters get for bringing disorder to parliament.
I don’t think they’re in a position to demand anything. In fact, Parliament can disestablish them at the stroke of a pen.
I know right , ACT can’t demand anything Andrew.
They don’t have the authority to demand anything, that’s the truth of it.
I seriously don’t get it! It’s impossible to believe that everyone, even those with only half a brain, is not opposing another of Seymour’s spiteful, nasty and insidious Bills. Are the supporters really that stupid? This Bill is dangerous, cunning and beneath any form of dignity or common sense. Well done Waitangi Tribunal for taking a lead in this. Why can’t we all sign a petition to stop it in its tracks now? Seems to me everything Seymour touches, e.g. school lunches, Treaty referendum, charter schools, is tarnished with his self entitlement and all about the “greedy takers” out there. Someone tell us if there is anything in it for the ordinary Joe Bloggs – I bet not. Go away David – hang your head in shame for what you are doing to our country and it’s people.
