On Yesterday’s ‘Te Kaupapa’, Waatea’s Weekend Political Podcast, Press Gallery Journalist, Claudette Hauiti made the observation that the C-word fight between Andrea Vance, Brooke Van Velden and Nicola Willis was middle class white feminism privilege.
Claudette noted that the vast majority of the women who are being robbed by the Government’s reversal and dumping of the Pay Parity claims are Māori and Pacifica women, and that the controversy between middle class white feminists taking offence at the C-word was their middle class white feminism privilege eclipsing working women of colour’s material reality.
Likewise the privilege of the Privileges Committee that punished 3 Māori MPs for a righteous Haka.
They received an unprecedented banishment for their Haka because it disrupted Parliament however Brooke Van Velden has received no punished for doing the same by uttering the C word!
The cultural double standards and the class double standards wrapped all in a self pity offended safety blanket for the rich while the poor suffer the damage and the audacity of having their real life pain eclipsed for middle class feelings.
If you don’t want to be called the c word, don’t be a c word.
If you don’t want angry hakas, don’t do things that prompt an angry hakas!

The current collective group of women in the government are the nastiest people imaginable .It is no wonder we have 50k plus people leaving every year and the highest youth suicide rates in the world .There is a saying that a fish rots from the head down ,and that is whats happening to NZ today .I met a person yesterday who asked if I had noticed that people have become nasty and hatful in the last year or so .I said well you only have to look at the current bunch of so called leaders to see why that is the case .She thought for a while and said that I was correct as these people are making being nasty and hateful into the norm now .
Absolutely correct.
Agree Gordon. Selfish and nasty. Very quick to take offense. Unforgiving and unkind.
This govt. aspires to punish people for being poor, disabled, women etc. to make themselves look good.
People seem to be following their lead.
It’s not the poor economy or poor prospects which are the basic causes. It’s the mean, nasty, vindictive, miserable, govt. which is causing us all to feel blah.
When they let misfits have so much power over ordinary people just trying to live as well as they can under difficult circumstances, optimism feels in short supply.
It’s not good governing.
You’re dead right there. NZ seems to be exactly where USA was during the Obama period; polarized into extremes. The current leadership and their political agenda isn’t helping; in fact it’s exacerbating the situation. Which of course, has lead to the exchange of potty mouth insults.
While inhuman behavior by a governing political coalition is cause for sharp political response, in my humble opinion, the response by Mark Carney to Diaper Don (aka 8647) was intelligent, decisive and bitingly witty. Maybe our journalists and politicians could learn a thing or two from our Canadian cousins.
Secondly, what Martyn says is also precisely accurate. The two ministers are presumably intelligent people who must have been warned about the impact their policies will have on the very people who are most vulnerable, and after behaving badly, they were called out, vulgarly yes, but justifiably so.
Not being students of political history, the two ministers fail to realize that the political pendulum is swinging back against them, and whatever inroads they might make against ordinary people’s rights today, will be returned tenfold when the other party/faction gains power. That’s the way it’s always been and will continue to be.
Unfortunately for the right, the march of history is against them. Just compare workers, womens and gay rights now with what they were 50 or 100 years ago. In the long run, the leftist march towards equality is unstoppable. We know this, so name calling is beneath us, and drags us down to their level.
Whatever gives you the idea that the COC women are feminists?
Feminists believe in collective action, to fill the sails of all women…these women are out to support individualism and capitalism…maidservants to the patriarchy
100%.
This is an example of “girl power” where confidence and self esteem of the individual woman is seen as the end goal and not the collective equality of rights and opportunities of women that characterises feminism.
It works for a time but then the sociopathic “girls” run out of men they will begin to cannabalise each other in the pursuit of power.
Correct.
And they are not feminists. They have bought into the patriarchy, lock, stock and barrel.
Every man for himself.
Isn’t feminism, look down on stay-at-home mums, have a room of one’s own to be a world-famous author or break the glass ceiling to become a bank CEO, AG or PM, end of story? Surely this lot are the epitome of feminism.
These are not feminists they grew up under the umbrella of wealth and privilege, they have no idea of the working poor, all they can do is preach from the holy grail of how much better they are than any other woman on the planet but in the majority of women they will always be cunts
The disproportionate punishment meted out to Te Pati Maori is a continuation of the inequality in our society where Maori are more imprisoned, unemployed, worse housed, poorly educated and in poverty than Pakeha.
Punish Brooke Van Velden? Who could be whiter than that poster girl for the master race?
Yeah so true. The punishment of TPM was brutal and unnecessary. It really showed the world what a bunch of assholes CoC really is. And Martyn could not be more spot on about the classism at the very heart of pay parity destruction wrought by this government of middle class pricks and cunts, brown and white.
Racisim at its best .Pure racisim and nothing else .Read the story on news room if you dont believe me .Even jabba the hut ,Brownlee, agrees .
Correct.
And they are not feminists. They have bought into the patriarchy, lock, stock and barrel.
Every man for himself.
Agree 100%
Yes, your right Lone Comet and our PM seems to be a hypocrite as he said this on RNZ this morning about the privileges committee punishment for Te Pati Maori, ” I just think it’s really important that the rules are upheld because we’ve got to be able to discuss difficult and emotional subjects in Parliament and debate them, but we also need to make sure it doesn’t degenerate into absolute chaos.” Yet he had no problem with one of his Ministers using her personal email account in fact he was fine with it.
He wasn’t even fucking there because he’s a Lilly livered coward

Feminist fight for womens’ right they don’t crush them so I wouldn’t put any of that lot in this category
Do they even know (or care) what it’s like to be a caregiver? Yes, those 65,000 care and support workers who have no chance of a pay equity claim now no matter what the CoC says and the lies they continue to tell. And the Early Childhood Education Teachers? Any worker in the so-called “funded sector” ? The mocking has been disgraceful and the comparison with their lives as “strong women” who are not feminists, no matter how they claim they are, is all on National ACT and NZ First.
If the pay is/was so bad, why did they accept the job?
FFS > rent, food, children, petrol, mortgage, clothes, rates, power, phone, car repairs, sickness, home repairs, medical bills……need I go on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh Ada are you Bob the first in drag because your views are getting more pathetic by the day
Look forward to you needing care Ada and the care givers saying fuck off, I’m not touching that for any money in the world.
Willis and van Welden are being complete dicks.
Their skin is at the fore and they will ultimately lament
