‘Chicken jockey’ chaos: Minecraft movie trend sparks cinema mayhem
A global trend inspired by the new Minecraft movie has taken a dangerous turn, after a fire extinguisher was let off inside a packed Melbourne cinema.
The bizarre craze has fans erupt during a specific scene in the film when Jack Black’s character introduces a creature called a “chicken jockey” – a pixelated baby zombie riding a chicken.
But what began as a playful online trend, with people throwing popcorn and cheering, has now escalated into full-blown cinema disruption.

4 – When I was fortunate enough to interview Richard O’Brien last year, I read about how cinema goers began singing and speaking along to the Rocky Horror Picture Show when it came out doing the midnight screenings unprompted and it added to the cult nature of the film.
5 – Let the kids enjoy Chicken Jockey you grumps!
As for the movie:
1 – Minecraft the movie is exactly the same as Minecraft the game, only appreciable to children.
2 – Despite hundreds of millions on CGI, they can’t manage to get Jack Blacks hair dye the right colour in almost ever scene.
3 – Jason Momoa and Jennifer Coolidge are very funny.
4 – Nice to see all the Kiwi actors who haven’t had a pay cheque since the last Taika Waititi movie all get a chance to pay the mortgage.
5 – It’s funny how shitty run down NZ looms like shitty run down Idaho. This is a terrible insult to Idaho.
