The Editor doesn’t moderate this blog, 3 volunteers do, they are very lenient to provide you a free speech space but if it’s just deranged abuse or putting words in bloggers mouths to have a pointless argument, we don’t bother publishing.
All in all, TDB gives punters a very, very, very wide space to comment in but we won’t bother with out right lies or gleeful malice. We leave that to the Herald comment section.
EDITORS NOTE: – By the way, here’s a list of shit that will get your comment dumped. Sexist abuse, homophobic abuse, racist abuse, anti-muslim abuse, transphobic abuse, Chemtrails, 9/11 truthers, Qanon lunacy, climate deniers, anti-fluoride fanatics, anti-vaxxer lunatics, 5G conspiracy theories, the virus is a bioweapon, some weird Bullshit about the UN taking over the world and ANYONE that links to fucking infowar.

The world’s maritime watchdog has agreed to a landmark deal for shipping companies to pay for their carbon dioxide emissions – but New Zealand abstained from the vote.
The Ministry of Transport said New Zealand was preserving its position “while officials undertake further work to analyse the draft resolution”.
The ministry said officials would give further advice to ministers before any formal adoption at the next meeting of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) in October.
( Idea of personnel is to find a way to do nothing about a serious problem and still get paid a huge salary.)
Is this an enlightening thought from a different perspective, or is it something that everyone but myself knows? Edward de Bono* says that a way that is effective for preventing consideration of an idea is to say that ‘it is not new’. As we don’t even consider, think about present ideas for veracity etc, one can see that if that thought of de Bono’s is correct it means that a great lack of thinking and evaluating is being lost.
It occurs to me that the way that computer program are built, line by line of code, each working with others towards an assigned goal is really a blueprint of how society works – encoded for portability and multiple use. We have created a copy of our own advanced society, and need to recognise that, but it is not to the front of our minds.
Each one of us is similar to a separate line of code co-operating with each other for some goal. Now if we could find the people with whom we can interface, check each others ideas and refine them and then work on agreed and good programs/policies, we would get on better. We at present consider we have a generally co-operative approach to our living, but competition, business even countries stealing each other’s customers, gaining power over others so they are lessened and we can gain more, has crept on us as the way to be. This is not a new approach but it has grown exponentially since the internet has become a leading, cutting edge into our affiliations, beliefs, life directions.

…Educated at St. Edward’s College, Malta, he then gained a medical degree from the University of Malta. Following this, he proceeded as a Rhodes Scholar in 1955 to Christ Church, Oxford,[4] where he gained an MA in psychology and physiology….
(While mentioning Rhodes Scholars, here are our NZAO picks for 2025: They are doing some good thinking, studying, more thinking, being tested and proving their conclusions. All sound sincere, and desirous of adding positively to society. Good wishes to all of them. https://www.universitiesnz.ac.nz/latest-news-and-publications/rhodes-scholars-announced-2025)
But it is important that the learning of these scholars breaks through the carapace of obsessed and dumb money gatherers who have found a way to suck up the oil of power and desire in the world, to become their goal and measure, (Analogy: The Triffids in John Wyndham’s story were oil producing but very dangerous plants.)

The protagonist is Bill Masen, a biologist who has made his living working with triffids—tall, venomous, carnivorous plants capable of locomotion. Due to his background, Bill suspects they were bioengineered in the Soviet Union and accidentally released into the wild. Because of the excellent industrial quality of an oil produced by and obtained from the triffids, there is heavy triffid cultivation around the world. …

Police have charged seven protesters with trespassing after they tried to shut down a West Coast coal mine.
The mining company Bathurst Resources is seeking fast-track approval to extend its Stockton mine and extract 20-million tonnes of coal from the Denniston and Stockton Plateaux over the next 25 years.
Last week, about 70 people camped on Denniston Plateau, and, on Monday, several protesters climbed into cable cars used to transport coal, in order to halt operations….

….Speaking at the release of the court’s final report, Chief of Navy Rear Admiral Garin Golding described the Manawanui’s activity on the south coast of Upolu.
So the operation was done in support of CHOGM – a very high-profile security activity on behalf of a nation, so it wasn’t just a peace time operation,” he said.
“It was done in what we call rapid environmental assessment so we were going in and undertaking something that we had to do a quick turn around of that information so it wasn’t a deliberate high grade survey. It was a rapid environmental assessment so it does come with additional complexity and it did have an operational outcome. It’s just um you know we we are operating in complex environments.
The report explained the Manawanui was tasked with “conducting the Sinalei survey task” “to survey a defined area of uncharted waters.” But Pacific Security Fellow at Victoria University’s Centre for Strategic Studies at Victoria University Iati Iati questions what is meant by “in support of the upcoming CHOGM”…
…who exactly initiated that additional task which I think is on paragraph 37 of the report after the ship had sailed the extra task was then confirmed. Who initiated that I’m not sure and I think that needs to be explained. Why it was confirmed after the sailing that also needs to be explained.
“In terms of security, I guess the closest we can come to is the fact that you know King Charles was staying on that side and Sinalei Reef. It may have something to do with that but this is just really unclear at the moment and I think all those questions need to be addressed.”
The wreck of the Manawanui lies 2.1 nautical miles – 3.89km – from the white sandy beach of the presidential suite at Sinalei Resort where King Charles and Queen Camilla stayed during CHOGM.
Just over the fence from the Royals’ island residence, Royal New Zealand Navy divers were coming and going from the sunken vessel in the early days of their recovery operation, and now salvors and the navy continue to work from there.
AUT Law School professor Paul Myburgh said the nature of the work the Manawanui was carrying out when it ran aground on the reef has implications for determining compensation for people impacted by its sinking….
