Christopher Luxon doubles down on trade war comments after Winston Peters’ criticism

Prime Minister Christopher Luxon has repeated his view that there is a trade war playing out between the US and China, despite the foreign minister calling that language “hysterical”.

Luxon told Morning Report there is a trade war happening.

“Obviously, if you look at what’s happening with respect to the US and China, there is real trade wars and tension going on there,” Luxon said.

However, he denies there’s any tension between him and Peters regarding the response to the United States tariffs.

“We are very aligned in our approach,” Luxon said.

…Winston’s brutal take down of Luxon with his criticism of the PM talking to other Trading partners without his say so highlights how weak Chris Luxon truly is.

The Foreign Minister is sucking up to America while the Prime Minister is leading a new trading block against America.

Luxon pretending Winston isn’t trashing him in public is a bit like Zelensky claiming Trump loves him.

I love how Winston is now just threatening Luxon to shut up until her gets home…

Winston Peters won’t speak while overseas on PM’s ‘hysterical’ trade language

The foreign minister is not commenting further about his criticisms of “military language” such as “trade war”, saying he will deal with domestic matters when he is back in New Zealand.

Winston Peters has criticised Prime Minister Christopher Luxon for not consulting him before calling world leaders to discuss trade, and said some of the language being used was “hysterical” and “short-sighted”.

The prime minister, meanwhile, has downplayed suggestions of a rift between him and his deputy on trade, saying it was a “media beat-up” and all of his ministers were on the same page, in that they did not want to see a trade war.

…does anyone know who is actually running the country?

The Foreign Minister or the Prime Minister?

  1. Then Luxon goes on radio and tries to say it’s a media beat up! Where? They are not quoting Peters out of context, they are just publishing what he said.

    • That’s now Luxon’s default. Blame media when he doesn’t like hearing the truth, a page out of Winnies book.
Luxon is out of his depth and either way will be gone next election as National parachute in a new leader for the party.

  2. Who is in charge? No-one, absolutely no-one.
They all think they are in charge, but we all know they are the weakest, stupidest, most pathetic excuse for a govt. we’ve probably ever had.

Every useful public service is being squeezed dry to set up a series of private businesses which benefit no-one but their owners.
They think because they are rich and sorted that they personally, will never feel the cold, hard reality of having to endure health care or educational care which has been privatised for profit. They think they are immune.

Imagine the improvements to our health and education systems if these fools put as much effort into supporting our public services as they do to destroying our collective benefits.

The people who own these fools will not get much return on their investment because NZders hate them. Many NZders are wise to their manipulations and will be deliberately anti and subversive when they find they are being diddled. Two can play at that game. They undermine our institutions, we will undermine them and their sneaky plans.

Apparently, Seymour’s charter schools have attracted 215 students. That indicates that most parents are too smart to get involved with charter schools with the obvious likelihood that they will disappear at short notice. Your child’s long term education is damaged by changing schools for no good reason.
The doctors in our hospitals are talking of strike action to raise public awareness to the difficulties they face. There are public meetings about the destruction of public health. Go and listen and ask yourself where our priorities should be? in support of collective benefits or making profits for a few owners?

NZ’ders united whole-heartedly to undermine and dispose of the TPB. We need to do the same with the Regulatory Standards Bill and this attack on health and education perpetrated by someone representing barely 10% of the electorate. Seymour has no mandate, no knowledge and no right to rob our institutions to fund his vanity projects. He isn’t even morally entitled to be in parliament.

  3. Winston used to be a quite attractive looking man but look at him now.
Shows what a sour personality will do to your looks.

Luxon just looks like the plodder he is.

No-one is fooled into thinking they know what they are doing.
