CEOs are the Barons and Dukes, Kings are best represented by heads of state whether authoritarian, elected or ceremonial, all are tolerated and controlled at the whim of the nobility.

When Louis IX of France fed ten beggars at his table every noon he did not ask them if they were eligible for food or if they had failed to look for work. He knew they needed food and that it was his duty as ruler to relieve the poor.
When monasteries provided shelter for sick and homeless people the monks and nuns provided it for all that needed it.
When harvests failed Feudal rulers used their personal funds to buy grain from other places and transport it to where it was needed.
I am not trying to show that Feudal Society was wonderful and all rulers were kind, compassionate and caring( there are so many examples to show they were not ) but they did belong to a culture which believed the wealthy and fortunate had a duty to care for poor and unfortunate people. An idea reinforced by a church of which all were members.
Luxon calls himself a Christian and it may be he contributes to charities but I do not believe he daily feeds ten homeless people.
Edith Pargeter got interested in medieval Wales and England and wrote about them in her series about the worldly monk Cadfael. One gets the feeling of the times, tensions and ways. Cadfael was the herbalist at his monastery but had gone to the Crusades, been around, and his Abbot? used him on any diplomatic missions wherever experience in the world was needed. There are 18? books and better to read for immersion in the times but a good tv series made.
