Green Party out of the woke frying pan into the woke fire

The Green Party in one virtue signal

Benjamin Doyle, Green Party List MP in Hamilton, presents maiden speech

New Zealand’s first non-binary Member of Parliament, Benjamin Doyle, has presented their maiden speech.

Doyle (they/them/ia), of Ngāpuhi and Pākehā descent, became a List MP for the Green Party earlier this month after Darleen Tana was ousted from Parliament.

After fighting the uber woke they/them clique inside the Greens to kick Darleen out, the next one in off the list is another woke identitarian.

Post the Cass report and the total destruction by Trump (plus their own challenges with the ever hysterical woke activists) Benjamin’s inclusion now feels like the new Jaguar woke branding fiasco.

The Greens have allowed their factions enormous power to push their own woke candidates and this means the Party list resembles more an alienating vegan Kink munch more than a serious political party.

The next candidate after after Benjamin on the list pole danced to raise funds for the last election…

…the ‘lived experience’ groups inside the Greens have been given enormous selection of candidate powers and they have propelled these Identity Politics candidates up the list, the Greens need a good hard long look at themselves and the candidates they are promoting simply because of their diversity.

The bitter shallowness of Identity Politics has replaced the power of class solidarity and we saw the ultimate showdown of this in the American election where poor white people have become as easily triggered as middle class woke activists  and now see themselves as the victim, and when white poor people start seeing themselves in the same victimhood language as the woke, we are in an enormous amount of danger.

Defining ourselves through a constant prism of marginalization helps the Right, not the Left!

Unfortunately this is rational, logical and objective thinking, and as we all know from the woke, rational, logical and objective thinking is a heteronormative white cis male privilege and thus worthless.

Meanwhile, the earth is melting…

Earth saw hottest day in recorded history over weekend – climate agency

On Sunday, the Earth sizzled to the hottest day ever measured by humans, yet another heat record shattered in the past couple of years, according to the European climate service Copernicus.

…we are so fucked as a movement.

The latest Talbot Poll has the Greens on 10 and Labour on 33, if Chippy plays it right, he can slice 2 points off the Greens and keep them manageable.

At this stage that is the smartest move.

    • The Green Party is doing what it was designed to do. To be guffaw power for the witless as can be seen above.
The Green Party has Chloe Swarbrick and that is all The Green Party has. And in my view she should take her brilliance to the Labour party along with a bus to shove Hip Chipkins under.
The Green Party initiative was to make sure any attempt at holistic, organic farming practises look like tie died hippie undies lost amongst the hay bales. The real and actual AO/NZ economy is agriculture. It’s just that it’s an unfortunate fact that most farmers are a bit, well, special. As in ignorant. As in determinedly ignorant. As in ” I’m as dumb as fuck y’awl and I’m gonna stay that way. ” The Green Party is doing precisely what it was designed to do within the mandate of the corrupt MMP politic. To make organic farmers look like dumb ass sissies as they try to protect their environment and produce a better product. But instead, we get the National Party way of farming since 1936. “Can’t have none of that there dumb ass sustainable, organic shit and what not!. Martha! Where’s m’ Roundup? “

  1. I listened to this person’s speech and to think it could be at the table deciding my future is a worry. Long gone are the sensible Greens of the past.

  2. Soooo what do you have against Doyle? You didn’t say anything beyond calling them a woke identitarian…because they identify as they/them? So what! He’s also many other things one being a teacher and he seems a good person. Not a dipshit like Tana or the others.

  3. The greens cannot get away from the woke identity politics. They have structured their whole party in such a way they have painted themselves into a corner as every decision has to go through the members, and the members are so deep into identity/woke politics they are always….ALWAYS going to have this problem with MP selection.
But changing their structure works, well only to kick out the male co-leader to install a 2nd woman co-leader.
Nothing will change whilst the hippy vegan wokesters have the vote to say who is in and who is out on the list.

  4. Benjamin Doyle may be an odd fish for some, but no weirder than many many other MPs past and present in terms of their personal situations and public presentation. There are well enough old coots in suits in Parliament already in my view. The MMP Parliament is meant to more representative of who is around in society.

The thing with the new Green MP is he is not saying join AUKUS, and he opposes the war on the poor being waged by CoC.

  5. There is only only one ruthless, dedicated, relentless politician in Parliament at present
The problem is it’s David Seymour. And a long way back in second is Shane Jones.

  6. University of Waikato. They objected to women having voices too. Please dear God do not let Waikato Uni start producing doctors as being mooted. Their politicians are decidedly odd and people’s lives could be at stake with their medics.

  7. Gosh it took you a couple of days to put the boot in. I know this stuff makes you uncomfortable Bomber, but I actually liked what Ben Doyle had to say – not about his identity, but about his politics. I think it’s great we live in a country where someone like Ben can be sworn in as an MP in our crusty old Parliament wearing a skirt and a Hat. I don’t care what they look like, or wear, or how they identify themselves ; I care what they do as law makers. I am not a Greens voter, and nor will I ever be, but I would have there is plenty to be getting on with the first year anniversary of the corrupt coalition and much more to concentrate on than pronouns.

    • Yes, Bomber was a bit slow to put the slipper in…mind you some of the departed Greens have been spinners for sure.

I liked the “love” sentiments too, and this new MP did not gargle back a few wines and then make the loser symbol on his forehead to the house.

    • Agreed DF. I’d add, you know you need the Green’s policies Bomber !
Ask for example the people of Spain !
Amid their climate disasters what a CoC of a government they have.
      Time is nearly up.

  8. Nicely written, Martyn, expressing sentiments that I agree with. It is great to be well-meaning and inclusive. However, irrational, authoritarian and hypocritical doesn’t cut it. I somehow doubt that the Green Party will take your advice. Neither Marama nor Chloe respond as courteously as David Seymour to criticism.

  9. Good old Ben strikes me as rather mature. Hope he doesn’t come to blows with his highly triggered screeching teenage boss. You say anything to her and she’s outraged! Just keep calm Ben.

  10. It’s unfortunate that gender has gone from some sort of sideshow to a convenient way for absolute wankers to get voted in. I am talking about Trump. Luxon etc, not they them. Georgian Bayer seemed an incredibly brave person who, I could be wrong, stuck to issues that affected many people not some tiny percentage of the population. I personally don’t give a toss what you call yourself just focus on the good of the many. No one is. National Act are looking after a small percentage of rich pricks and the greens the right to wear a dress despite the suspiciously large Adam’s apple. We are all stuffed.

  11. The Greens are full steam ahead doubling down the identity politics to the chagrin of the working poor and environmentally minded people. What a destructive force they are to the left, surely too toxic to be reformed.
