Luxon defends coalition’s record on climate change

Prime Minister Christopher Luxon is defending the coalition government’s record on climate change.

Luxon was in Samoa for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) last week.

The leaders declared the Pacific faces severe challenges from climate change.

Parliament’s environment watchdog has questioned the government’s claims that it is on track to meet climate targets.

But Luxon told Morning Report he rejected that.

“We are doing everything we can.”

This is ridiculous! HE’S LYING!

NZ – YOU elected a climate denial Government, YOU have to swallow the deep shame of that political decision so watching Luxon squirm and lie about our collective failure when we are challenged on the global stage is as sad as it is empty!

EVERYTHING this Government has done in the last 12 months has destroyed, burnt down or wrecked any moves NZ was making on reducing climate change emissions: They have gutted climate change adaptation budgets, killed off public transport and dumped the rail capable Ferry’s!

Pretending the abuse of the Fast Track program will solve the problem WHILE that Fast Track programme will allow for more coal mining is so absurd, only Kiwis will believe it!

You can’t shit on every climate change measure and then pretend we are doing something when we get challenged at CHOGM.

  1. Don’t fret – New Zealand can always fall back on dodgy East European Carbon Credits to take up the slack. After alll, it worked last time. . .

  2. Martyn – We could stop hosting meetings in far flung paradise’s like Samoa, therefore reducing our Climate Footprint, but that’s not fair on Samoa…Google Meet, or Zoom perhaps?

  3. I was surprised Luxon said we’d meet climate targets. Then I heard it was by 2050. Sorted people will live in special areas by then.

  4. luxon is a direct result of our collective exhaustion. 40 years of the fascist-like mono-politic called neo-liberalism has us flattened and to think a pig farmer did this to us. That, is bizarre in the extreme.

  5. It would surprise me if Luxon believes anything which comes out of his own mouth. In Parliament his focus seems to be spouting glib utterances aimed at shooting down critics but with little substantive to offer in return. The Greens wallow in a racist regressive adolescence, and little is achieved.

    • How can you say that about the greens it is not them trying to start new land wars is it .Just because they remind the population that white men and women are no less violent than brown people you call them racist .

    What do you mean?

Social justice is regressive. Fairness and equity are regressive.

    Clarity please.

  7. Luxon doesn’t give a fuck – he is implementing his fundamentalist agenda while his stupid base are too “Labour bad” blind to see it, and before they actually want to admit it.

  8. It must be tricky – how do you keep warm when burning all the rich people to keep warm fc*ks the climate?

It’s enough to keep you voting Labor!
