The Spinoff finally gets across the finishing line…
The real reason behind Act’s push to redefine the Treaty principles
Some say the Treaty Principles Bill is rooted in ignorance, but Rupert O’Brien argues the Act Party is making a calculated move to remove a significant barrier to its privatisation and deregulation agenda.
Yes! Yes! Yes!
Look, if even our comrades over at the middle class Identity Politics conclave that is Spinoff can see it – then anyone can!
As The Daily Blog has been pointing out since this hard right, racist, climate denying, beneficiary bashing, disabled abusing Government formed, the attack on Māori rights is really a Trojan Horse for a privatisation agenda pushed by far right International Think Tanks like the Atlas Network, the very same Atlas Network that recently threatened The Daily Blog.
We are seeing a blitzkrieg of hard right culture war revenge fantasies masquerading as social policy to distract from the real agenda of removing regulation for the Rights Donor class.
The Right have Super Political Lobbyists like Costello, Jones, Mckee, Todd Stephenson, even Winston, who were former consultants and now in power are ramming through their agenda with as little scrutiny as possible.
They are making it a culture war when it’s actually a class war.
The limitations of pure temple identity politics uber alles as epitomised by the likes of The Spinoff (ironically) is that it allows the Right to make it about identity when it’s really class.
I have spent over half a decade trying to warn middle class identity politic activists not to hand David Seymour the culture war ammunition he would use against us. The NZ Left consistently underestimate Seymour and manage with their cancel culture pure temple politics tactics to continue driving voters directly into the arms of the far right.
Increasingly having independent opinion in a mainstream media environment which mostly echo one another has become more important than ever, so if you value having an independent voice – please donate here.
“The Treaty principles, while imperfect, have played a crucial role in safeguarding Māori interests and preventing the unchecked transfer of Crown assets, which benefits everyone in New Zealand. As such, they remain a critical tool for upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi and ensuring a just and equitable New Zealand”
If any fool supports this BS referendum than they’re anti-New Zealand
Absolutely. From an economic nationalist perspective maori sovereignty is always kiwi sovereignty.
Chuckles 😉
Lies lies lies and propaganda.
Cultural “war” is a propaganda war.
Like the “war” in Gaza , “War” is simply a word to justify genocide by the Jew/sAmericans.
Hamas are said to be waging “war” yet Hamas has no army air force or navy.
The nuclear armed Jews are “defending” themselves against the weakest military in the world.
We can not have a race /cultural “war’ because the Whites have overwhelming power.
A race /cultural “war’ is simply propaganda to justify political genocide by the White majority
and of course to avoid talking abut real issues like White power, the economy, health housing employment the environment, education, gender + many more issues.
We the Maori are the “Hamas” of the White right wing political propaganda agenda/narrative.
The “imaginary” enemy who must be conquered if Whites are going to survive.
The 2023 election was won by the right invoking White prejudice, ignorance and power.
Invoking White hate of minorities especially Maori is all it takes for the right wing to win power.
For millions of White people Maori hate has become their lifes purpose their reason for living.
With out Maori hate White media /newspapers /TV news/ ZB talk would disappear over night.
Maori hate is a very profitable business for the White right wing. It is what keeps them in power.
And the White right wing electorate devour the “war” propaganda like hyhena on fentanyl.
Been happening since the White invasion post 1840.
Maori hate guarantee’s the White Right 9 years in Power even Winnie has realised and jumped on the Maori bashing bandwagon.
Maori hate is a very profitable business for the White right wing. It’s why I keep showing your comments to young White guys I know.
Xeno, pakeha get their racial ques from their parents peers etc… Maori hating is deep within pakeha communities its been here since pakeha arrived. If you believe that showing young pakeha comments as above to turn them against Maori well you’re wasting your time and talking shit because there so much maori hating online its nothing new
Xenophobe types have been around since the Doctrine of Discovery.
“The Doctrine of Discovery was based upon racist theories that Non-Europeans were not human, and therefore had no property or human rights, and could not safely govern themselves. Based upon that theory, Europeans ignored native property and political rights, and set up governments on Indigenous lands.”
Reminds me of Luxon and his properties.
Xenophobe, educate yourself…

ya still dont understand the word ” conquest ” do you?
Woe to the vanquished, to the victor the spoils. Moari understand that well enough with their endless pre euro wars.
hetzer, but that what neva happened because they had an agreement called the “Tiriti o Waitangi” the spoils you yap on about was under duress with cunning pakeha using the “New Zealanders” kindness to infiltrate Maori communities introducing diseases & mayhem with double dealings attacking unarmed “New Zealanders” communities who welcomed & feed pakeha.
Oh I fucking get it alright. When the treaty and the crown goes, we will go then in will come the anus oilers to bend luxon over and we’ll become someone else’s meat to corral.
My guess will be the israeli’s who once settled and secure here and you and me and Maori are butchered where we stand they will nuke the middle east for their oil. The good news is that we were all destined to go down this route and the israeli’s will be the last rats to burn while hiding in the wood pile.
Don’t underestimate the saffas. They came here in droves and became instant Kiwis.
Seymore must be wetting his pants with the controversy he is causing and he is loving all the attention he his getting from the NZ Press who are fawning all over him.
Not unlike the maori party, the press fawning over them when they come out with inflammatory rhetoric….loving all the attention they are getting.
And the weak as cats piss National party and PM who is clueless in curbing the tail that wags his government, although his fawning ZB far right listeners like tighty never righty and Xenophobia adore him.
Actually the original “Principles” BS was also all about the 1980’s privitisations, and the Iwi leadership have done very well out of it, as their National mates know.
It is true that since 1984 Maori have been the major impediment to the progress of the neo-liberal project. When the unions surrendered without a struggle it was Maori who forced the Lange-Douglas government to make concessions. Therefore David Seymour and ACT will still see Maori as the one group capable of frustrating the plan to transfer the remaining New Zealand-owned economic assets directly into the hands of global capital.
However if they consider that the Treaty Principles Bill is an effective means to that end, they are badly mistaken. Maori are an effective opposition not because they are Maori, and not because they are one in five of the population, but because they exist as a people independently of the state and its laws, with their own vibrant and self-sustaining social organisation.
The TPB seeks to legislate Maori as a people out of existence by proclaiming them to be nothing more than citizens. The folly of such an approach will be obvious to all who can think clearly. If the TPB was to pass into law, iwi, hapu, whanau, runanga and marae would continue to exist. Maori as such would no longer be represented in the councils of government, but that would not greatly change things because their presence in government has never been the source of their strength. “Out of the tent” Maori would be a greater threat to the neo-liberal project than they have been when “inside the tent” over the past forty years.
If the ACT Party is thinking along the lines that turning Maori into citizens will end the threat that Maori pose to neo-liberalism then they are wrong, and I am sure that the National Party theoreticians are able to see just how wrong. Therefore, the bill will not proceed into law.
