Announce protest actions, general chit chat or give your opinion on issues we haven’t covered for the day.

The Editor doesn’t moderate this blog,  3 volunteers do, they are very lenient to provide you a free speech space but if it’s just deranged abuse or putting words in bloggers mouths to have a pointless argument, we don’t bother publishing.

All in all, TDB gives punters a very, very, very wide space to comment in but we won’t bother with out right lies or gleeful malice. We leave that to the Herald comment section.

EDITORS NOTE: – By the way, here’s a list of shit that will get your comment dumped. Sexist abuse, homophobic abuse, racist abuse, anti-muslim abuse, transphobic abuse, Chemtrails, 9/11 truthers, Qanon lunacy, climate deniers, anti-fluoride fanatics, anti-vaxxer lunatics, 5G conspiracy theories, the virus is a bioweapon, some weird bullshit about the UN taking over the world  and ANYONE that links to fucking infowar.

  1. Gout : It seems as if the medical fraternity is not interested in simple remedies much. Looking at general info on gout, and then listings for NZ health links, don’t offer any helpful and simple advice direct to people, or a place where health discussions in the public can take place or questions asked simply and directly.

I get flares of gout in my elbow – very sore and notice that if I haven’t drunk enough water, just a cupful every two hours say, apart from any other liquid, then that lack can result in a ‘flare’ of pinprick-type pain. If I am busy doing something and miss even a snack or small meal, that also makes it more likely that I will get an attack. When affected it persists and I can only get rid of with enough water. It can take 30 minutes to an hour of sipping and drinking to do so.

Water is needed – plain water. Sipping and drinking one to two cupfulls within a half hour, and probably a visit to urinate, then another half cup, and some non-sugary thing to eat will keep it away for another day!

(In one item on gout I see it says it can last for 3 days or more.) Nowhere does it give the advice to commence drinking by sipping up to 600 mls (3 cups) of plain water. It’s worth trying, otherwise the gout will be very trying on the person’s nerves and those of others having to put up with the affected person!) It works for me, even if it doesn’t show in most official advice. I put it here as it may help someone in pain and getting medical help and advice for ordinary people is becoming limited with lack of government will and funding.

  2. How about this as an example of how Luxon might have received a moment of piercing understanding. It’s a song called Tomorrow from film Annie (remember it’s a film). Yeh for gingas, they brighten the eye, and then you can dance to it (Portuguese) Let’s adopt ginga as the lively Kiwi leitmotif, and our own dear kiwis can stay in their quiet evening sojourn.

Landlord renting a run-down house in NZ – lives in Bali!!
    Allegations of spying from Bali
The decision says the Ushers discovered the owners were watching them on Ring cameras – a type of security camera – that were being accessed remotely from Bali, where the owners live.
They could remotely connect to a router in the house to work from Bali, and the security system notified the owners when anyone was at the front door.

This is not what we should have in NZ in 2024. We have got into a parallel universe from our politicians – how did that happen? Who trapped us in the bottom of this test tube – so cute from the outside, so unpleasant squashed in the bottom?
