As Israel extends the genocide to Lebanon – protests across 30 centres this weekend demand government sanctions on the rogue state of Israel

Protests in 30 centres across the country this weekend will demand government steps to sanction the rogue state of Israel for its genocide in Gaza and now extending the genocide to Lebanon.

“Israel want wars – endless wars” says PSNA National Chair John Minto “because that’s the only thing which keeps Netanyahu’s far-right government in power”.

“Netanyahu has repeatedly tried to provoke all-out war in the Middle East in recent months with highly provocative attacks aiming to draw Iran into a military confrontation”

“Israel is an out-of-control rogue state”, says John Minto “simply because it has never been held to account for its racism, apartheid, ethnic cleansing and endless war crimes against the Palestinian people.

“The demand for sanctions from our government is a demand for accountability for Israel in line with the calls from the International Court of Justice”

    • I Honestly don’t know. Maybe because there were over 500 aid trucks a day entering Gaza just to meet basic needs pre October 7th and now barely 200 a day according to Israel. Their generosity knows no bounds. (Sarcasm)

  1. John – I want peace between Israel and Lebanon … but the 7,000 rockets fired from Lebanon into Israel since the 8th Oct last year cannot be explained away…

  2. Kia Ora John,
Israel is not stupid, unprincipled yes, but not stupid.
Is it possible that blowing up war with Lebanon is a diversion with benefits? So whilst the world is preoccupied with this and Gaza their ethnic cleansing of the West Bank continues relatively unnoticed, but an inceased rate.
After all, Israel’s goal has always been the eradication Palestinians from both the West Bank and Gaza.

  3. You know Hamas is winning when even humble blogs like TDB start getting infected with new posters defending Israel.
Israel doesn’t “Need” war, it wants war 78% of Israelis approve of the war crimes in Lebanon.
Its a sick world when a myriad of agencies condemn these crimes they are labeled “Antisemitic” here’s a thought if everyone’s telling you that you’re an @hole then its pretty much guaranteed you’re an @hole.

  4. The Israeli policy of war by assassination is unusual. For whatever reasons, most civilized states avoid such tactics even in war time. If you eliminate the leadership of your enemy then you have no one left with whom you can negotiate peace. Of course that does not worry the state of Israel, because Israel does not want a negotiated peace. It wants absolute victory. But there is another consideration. If you eliminate the enemy leadership you have no one to persuade the defeated people to unconditionally surrender, the very important role performed by Emperor Hirohito, Marshal Petain and General Hindenberg for example. So the State of Israel is looking for something beyond unconditional surrender from the people of Lebanon and Palestine. It is seeking their total destruction. This is the paradox of assassination across the board. It appears to be aimed at the leadership, but the real target is the entire population. The United States, which also uses assassination as a standard tactic of war is similarly disposed to seek elimination of entire peoples in the Middle East region, starting with the Palestinians and the Lebanese but unlikely to end there. The West no longer even claims to be acting solely against Arab autocrats, such as Saddam Hussein or Muammar Gaddafi whom it selectively executed in an previous era. The object is to eliminate all levels of leadership, which necessarily means the elimination of peoples. There is no more scope for the classic western pretense that “We are only severing the head, and we have no complaint against the body”. Israel and the West are bent on genocide, and the string of assassinations are all the proof that is needed.

    • Geof, fortunately Hesbollah and Hammas are not hierarchies, they are heterachies where leadership is spread multiply. You cannot cut off the head.

      • It is true that there appears to be a depth to the leadership of Hezbollah and Hamas which makes the assassination campaign problematic. However that does not change the fact that the intentions of Israel and the West are to eliminate the Palestinians and the Lebanese Shia by a top down strategy of progressively assassinating the leadership down through the levels combined with a bottom up strategy of causing mass fatalities through sanctions, blockades and bombing leading to starvation and disease.
This is the Western playbook, to which the Realm of New Zealand has signed up. To what extent it might work remains to be seen. I say to Mr Netanyahu, Mr Biden, and the “rich and sorted” Mr Christopher Luxon “Beware the wrath of God”. He will come like a thief in the night, unexpected and unseen, to sweep away everything that you have taken into your power.
