Chloe must sink Darleen’s waka – Special General Meeting October 17th

End of the road for Darleen Tana?

  • The Green Party will restart the waka jumping process to remove Darleen Tana from Parliament.
  • Tana was stood down from the party over exploitation claims against bike shops owned by her husband.
  • Tana failed last week in an attempt to have the process stopped in the courts.

This fiasco has gone on long enough.

The Greens CAN NOT allow the They/Thems to destroy their own Party.

Right from the beginning, the allegations of migrant worker exploitation against Tana’s partner was enough of an issue to stand her down and once the internal investigation clearly highlighted discrepancies between what Tana told the Greens and what she actually knew when, the only outcome was Tana to quit.

That the uber woke clique made up of members, non-binary activists and Green Staffers have enabled Tana as some sort of weird woke kamikaze attack against the Green leadership is a level of self mutilation too far.

The hurt feelings of this clique is what the rest of us have to usually tolerate from the Woke, watching them rip their own Party to pieces is bewildering.

The Green membership must trust Chloe to wield the waka jumping power. The Greens historical opposition to it was always based on the solid principle that conscientious objectors on matters of true honest difference shouldn’t be kicked out of Parliament, but that’s not what has happened here – it’s not like Tana has any legitimate position of principle, she just doesn’t want to quit!

The danger now is what does the uber woke They/Them clique do? Do they finally admit they’ve lost and retreat from this conflict or do they go nuclear and start releasing their dirt files?

We are seeing what happens when the woke attempt to take over power structures, we saw it with the Auckland Pride Parade, the Auckland Climate Change movement and previously Elizabeth Kerekere – now we are seeing it with Tana as the cliques last stand.

The problem with woke intersectionism is that it always ends up turning on itself, the fact the next candidate off the Party list is woker than Tana is humiliating and highlights just how powerful identity politics has become.

Meanwhile the planet burns while the They/Thems fiddle!

Increasingly having independent opinion in a mainstream media environment which mostly echo one another has become more important than ever, so if you value having an independent voice – please donate here.

  1. The Greens should embrace sustainability and recycling and welcome Tana back into the party. Cast aside their petty differences, move on from their misunderstandings and their fragile intersectional egos. That would be the way to show principles and values in politics.
Also, she really needs the money right now and her replacement on the list looks like a walking time bomb.

    • @ peter. Yeah…nah ! Fuck that! Stop breathing in the hair spray man.
Darleen is dodgy as fuck and the one thing The Green Party has is Chloe Swarbrick and she’s straighter than a very, very straight thing but not in that anal, sit up straight and pray to Jesus kind of way.
She’s honest. I think that’s what it is. She’s direct and clear and honest without being a doughy hypocrite. I can’t think of another politician like her and we should support her in what ever course of action she thinks she ought to take. Especially when dealing with a dodgy fucker like darleen. We already have a Parliamentary coop full of squawking darleens laying eggs all over the place. We can’t afford another one.

    • Peter. “ … her replacement… looks like a walking time bomb.” True. Yet another so-called University of Waikato product. They’re generally awful, IMO. One even speechifies from his laptop in Parliament.

  2. But the Greens are going to replace Tana with another they/them – Benjamin Doyle. The recurring problems we’re seeing aren’t a bug, they’re a feature.

  3. Greens have taken their sweet time on this one, but they will dump Darleen eventually. The Court would have been laughing like a drain when they were asked to intervene in a Parliamentary Political party internal processes and forums.

Tana has no shame obviously, the husbands business failure and exploitation of low paid workers would have caused anyone with a conscience to slink off months ago.

Greens will survive this type of scandal as a brand because if you read their policy they are the future–sustainability not capitalist growth on a finite, Climate compromised planet.

  4. Dump her now and move on .But take a hard look at future selection of candidates so that this does not happen again .NZ has had a lot of below standard candidates in all parties and a lot are in the current government which is driven by by hatred of the 90% that dont own 7 houses .I NZ is to become a great place to live we need to move away from the endless money grab of the last 50 years and work towards a great country for ALL kiwis not just massive money grab for the top 10%.Like it or not the greens may well be the party to steer us in that direction as clearly most of the others are caught in the money grab and have no idea on anything different .Events unfolding in the next 12 months will clearly show that has started to fail as the 90% have nothing left for the 10% to grab .

    • Agree with you 100%.

Both Labour / National ACT are two sides of the Neo liberal coin.

Over the last 3 elections the Greens have developed a policy platform that leaves those 3 parties in their shade.

Like it or not those 3 parties are now just legacy parties holding on by their finger nails.

    • Cricklewood their behaviour is definitely immature so a student type action would not surprise.
As optimistic as I am I can’t see them disbanding the party, they would lose their generous paychecks and end up unemployed.

  5. Greens are so useless. The mere fact that meeting is now only on 17 October says everything. They could Zoom the thing, like today. The I bet 10-1 that Chloe will not get her 75%. I listened to her on the radio and when someone nervously says “I trust the members to do the right thing”….that really means “Gee I hope this goes my way otherwise I’m toast”.

    • What happens if she gets toasted? Does she steer the Green Greens to another party or form a True Greens party, and leave the Gay Greens to their own devices?

      • Joe
That would be a very good thing for NZ. Plus it would show real leadership. On the basis of being true green, she’d probably take 90% of current Green voters with her because, as always, it’s only a tiny portion of professional shit-stirrers that always cause all the troubles. They can stay behind and form their own Them Alphabet Party with Leader Darleen, and rely on the 126 voters that live in the bush, smoke dope and go to every protest.

    • They will have a minimum period of days under their rules which is as normal as your local parent’s association special general meeting. I am not a lefty but let’s not be silly about process.

  6. The “woke” clique (as we are currently calling them) are basically bullies. Two generations ago it was easy to spot the bullies because they were white and the racist world they lived in meant they could get away with taking their dysfunction out on brown/black people. Nowadays it’s more complicated because the bullies can pretend they have inherited the mantle of Rosa Parks – but they are still bullies looking for someone to be mean to and they will never be able to build anything constructive.

Eventually everyone else will learn that toxic bullies need to be kept outside the walls until they learn to behave – but it could be a while before we get there.

  7. The Green Party plus @ Maori plus our Farmer primary industry plus turn Waiheke Island into a remand prison island for the 14 multi-billionaires, the 3118 multi-millionaires and the four now foreign owned banksters and we’ll be good to go! – ( That – one’s for you nathan -.)
The actual prison island is a little bit chillier. A bit drafty. Auckland Island. Seems appropriate though don’t you think? Ironic even.

  8. Why do we have to wait until 17th. Oct.? That’s ridiculous.
Do something decisive, Greens. We are all sick of listening to this will she/won’t she, garbage.
Cut off the dead wood now.
Martyn is desperately trying to be patient and understanding with you here, but the rest of us don’t have to be.
By all accounts the next person on the list is just as bad as Tana. Do something even more decisive and skip that person. Skip as many as you need to, until you find someone who knows what GREEN means.

  9. Chloe needs to have the next bloke in line, before he is given his warrant, sign a blank sheet of paper to keep in her desk drawer so she is never faced with this fiasco again.

  10. The charge of the knob head brigade on TDB…

Get it right–with each reactionary boomer funeral (there are lefty boomers too)–the Green brand will gain more support. Growth is not a happening thing on a finite planet with major Climate Disaster right here right now.

Sustainability and an electric powered AO/NZ is where it is at. Green policy is largely in sync with the requirements of our times, it makes little odds that there are political scandals pumped up by the for profit media channels.
