Gang patch legislation passed into law

Gang patches will be banned in public places from November 21, part of a raft of measures the Government hopes will “crack down” on gangs peddling “misery and intimidation”.

All eyes are now on November for National to indulge this bullshit to distract from the economy going backwards.

Meanwhile, Chris ‘Fricken’ Luxon butches up over gangs…

‘It’s not about the frickin targets’: Luxon fires up over gang numbers

…Luxon is the weakest PM in NZs political history. He is so weak he had to fire Melissa Lee to look butch. His PR people know that the public see Winston and Seymour playing Luxon like a chump so they want him to do more of an angry Dad routine to butch him up.

Clearly they’ve landed on a. safe target like the Gangs. Luxon can butch himself up and throw around fricken’ at the Gangs to look tough.

This pantomime is most dangerous because the austerity and amputation of public services to affords tax cuts for the rich will start to bite in the triple dip recession and National need a symbolic victory to eclipse that egalitarian vandalism.

Luxon said he would send 500 armed police into a Gang Tangi to remove a Gang Patch, the madness of this perspective will be tested once the law comes into force in November.

Coster who had previously been a brake peddle on the Government using Police force leaves in April 2025, look for the new hardline use of search and surveillance powers against gangs in their homes to expand once he’s gone. This will escalate immediately as Gangs start forming legitimate grievance beyond their own damaged experience of the State.

This should all erupt before the 2026 election so National can hold up the conflict they’ve inspired and promise to protect us from it.

Am I being too cynical?

No. No I’m not.

  1. How many millions is he going to waste on a war against 8k people in a population of 5.3 million?.Remember last week he ordered the police to fudge the number of gang members he has been using for the last 3 years to make it look as though he had already cut the numbers .Like his attack on overall crime rates he will fail as these people have been around longer than he has and they live in the real world and his hatred is nothing new to them .Another thing pissing him off is they are sucessful business people that make millions of tax free money just like his owners who probably want that business for them selves .Once he has locked up the gang members who will step in to supply the drugs his mates consume daily .

    • I’m wondering what a gang patch or insignia is? Maybe it’s a blue business suit, or a cops uniform, maybe an All Black jersey. Personally I distrust rural types wearing gumboots because they probably vote National and pollute rivers. Or perhaps they are OK people. This gummint is a farce.

    • The government seems unable to understand that the consequences of their economic decisions is the biggest problem we face as they fragment society. They are so obvious in their favouritism for the already wealthy yet so ignorant of the resentment that will cause.

      • Correct Bonnie. Right wing governments are responsible for the rise of gangs through their punitive rich get richer and poor get poorer policies.
It has been this way since Adam was a boy.
When gang members worked in industry it was never a problem but through neoliberalism and the loss of industry, gangs have resorted to drugs for income.

          • Well one point would be, despite all the bs, Labour aren’t really “left” at all. Labour may have started it, but Ruth Richardson wasn’t shy in adding steroids to it. Finally no one as been holding a gun to the heads of any party to say this is the way it has to remain. Actually I’ll correct that. The coalition has had a bag of cash held to its head and obliged accordingly. Sell outs.

          • No introduce by a bunch of lawyers and academics that infiltrated the Labour party which proves your theory that these types are good for running a country. It wasn’t until Mike Moore was elected( from a background of a manual worker) that Labour rid themselves of the failed neoliberal construct. Sadly National ramped up Neoliberalism to the point most of our SOE they sold off. Where has the money gone? Into the pockets of the rich and wealthy, which is the prime objective of this horrid government.
What is your point other than political trolling, biased comments which you gleefully promote and coming on this site simply to shit stir? You have never posted a constructive comment on this site, ever.
Would be a really good time for you to grow up as your comments are tedious.

          • It did not sit well with Labour and those established Neoliberals left to create the ACT party and we see to this day how much damage ACT’s neoliberal policies has created. They have divided our country with their racist rhetoric and failed charter schools and I can tell you one thing for certain, that is not political propaganda( which appears to be your modus operandi Bob, judging by every one of your comments )but the truth.

  2. Meanwhile the police arrest almost every Commanchero patched gang member and they now face hundreds of charges and will have millions of dollars of property seized. That’s how you frickin well get tough on the frickin gangs.
This gang patches stuff is political theatre.

    • The whole commanchero scenario you cite was a 3 year ‘tough on crime’ Op using resourced personnel, included complex digital surveillance and meticulous work by intelligence staff.

How does taking a now under resourced police force and sending them out wasting time on ineffective patch snatching duty get to the heart of gangs ?

In the hood our busy local ‘ courier ‘ doesn’t even wear a patch ?

      Think about it.

  3. Mangu Kaha–Black Power–and Mighty Mongrel Mob are just part of the furniture in many provincial communities and some urban suburbs. They have some rough history if you are old enough to know it, but are different to the 501s who just seem hard out drug businesses. Tribesmen and Headhunters are a bit in-between, not keen on them either, and I know a few members of both.

But regardless…“snatch the patch” is an attack on all that believe in freedom of speech, association and assembly. Cops entering homes and tangi to try and take or find insignia is over the top in a democratic society, but I guess at least the cops might be met by semi autos not just shotties and fists if Act have their way!

I have been surprised by the number of people in the North who don’t have a particular like for gangs but are opposed to the new search and seizure law. One guy at Kaitaia Market told me his tramping group are getting a patch done, that resembles gang ones, just to annoy the cops and make a point. One of the local cops has really long hair tied back, a full beard and would totally suit a leather vest rather than anti stab vest. It is going to be interesting indeed when Police are ordered to seize patches.

  4. Oops, did not mention luxury Luxon in my comment, if he really wants to butch up he needs to grow some stubble and put bronzer on his shiny bonce, black jumper and Doc Martins.

  5. Maori commit more crimes against Maori and gangs play an integral part of that victimization. On the face of it the current PM comment sound plausible in most cases and this has been well known for decades. The NATZ are fucking up our economy and Cluxfuck was on breakfast this morning shifting the blame on Labour.

I’m in support of Gang patch band as it affects Maori communities more than others. I have whanau in gangs and some of the shit they believe is fucking insane even targeting their own whanau using the gang as backup for their shit.

Most NZers won’t hardly see gang patches but in the maori communities its common. The gangs can be a solution however it ideology is occultist manipulation and criminal even though there are some that don’t commit crimes & live normal lives however the precarious nature of someone’s mind in gangs fueled by drugs, alcohol, makes them a liability to their community.

  6. I think we have run out of words to say how inept Luxon really is. We may all laugh however he is not only inept he has proved how dangerous he actually is especially where David Seymour is concerned. We have this government on one hand taking patches away, entering peoples private houses and on the other hand we have an ACT. Politician giving them access to machine guns and obviously there is absolutely nothing this so called PM can do about it

  7. Definitely some fuzzy thinking going on in this Fricken COC. Especially with ACT wanting to reinstate the use of semi- automatics, I won’t be happy if I see these being used against the Police, Children or Religious Groups ??? These weapons are totally unneccessary in a Modern First World Country like New Zealand and God Help if they get into the wrong hands.

Seymore and ACT appealing to the NRA and the White Right Nut Jobs.

    • A “Fricken” great job perhaps Bob the Fart…the shiny bonced bullshitter is totally unsuited for public office.

An actual great job for any govt. would be reducing homeless, hungry (e.g. not cutting school kids lunches), getting on top of Climate Disaster by getting on top of the polluting sheep shaggers and Dairyers, building sustainable energy infrastructure rather than sabotaging Solar and EVs, increasing worker rights, reducing economic inequity with CGT and Wealth tax–for staters…

        • Incorrect an unbiased opinion would show by every measure Labour made things much better, every measure. Now that National has created a recession things are much, much worse, just ask the people of Wellington. Fact.

    • Yes Mr C Luxon is doing a great job of being a cowardly, spineless, weak yes minister. Won’t be long before he starts stamping his feet and foaming at the mouth.

    • You’ll think a small bald narcissistic sociopath’s doing a great job, when he’s not painting his seven rentals. Is its because you’re a frickin dip frick? Can you just frick off and take your salivating thoughts about his bald fricken head the frick with you for fricks sake?

  8. Stevie no understan’
Government intensifies unequal taxation, intergenerational poverty, punishes beneficiaries while creating more unemployment and homelessness. Also provokes anger in Maori by needless debate so David Seymour can have power wank. In addition continues to needlessly prosecute people for cannabis use, while a gun nut in parliament intends to make more dangerous firearms available
    BUT
To deal with crime, various insignia are banned and more people will be imprisoned.
Can anyone tell me where and how this has worked?

  9. If the RBNZ doesn’t massively drop interest rates then the continual house price fall and consequent dewealthing effect is going to flow through to 10 percent unemployment and way more desperation crime.

    • If you think lower house prices will lead to 10% unemployment (which it won’t) then this country is truly screwed, and has a serious problem with the way the economy is set up.

  10. Now the economy has been stabilised with inflation falling the Reserve Bank is in a position to continue a reduction in interest rates.

      • My understanding and academic achievements in economics place me in a position to comment professionally whereas the confused comments by NSC reveal his/her ignorance.

        • Clearly not, your very low intellect requires AI to complete a post otherwise you’d know we have been forced into a recession by the coalition of chaos you absolute illiterate. Thankfully with my business acumen, acclaimed political science literature and doctorate, I am able to attempt to educate you but alas, you are required to have higher-order cognition, including critical thinking, responding appropriately in social situations, and so much more. Yet you have none.

    • National have butchered the economy to the point they have created a recession.
And some of the worst sufferers are the people of Wellington. Because they are struggling and with the cost of living exploding there is no extra income for spending inner city. Now the dictatorship government is forcing those working from home to return to the city offices so they will spend money they can’t afford to spend. A bigger driver of the downturn in spending has been the sharp rise in living costs and related rise in interest rates. This is a very dangerous government.
