A unique thing has happened in NZ politics with the election of this hard right, racist, climate denying, beneficiary bashing, disabled abusing Government.
It has been generated out of a total lack of actual political values, philosophy and ideas. National became utterly dependent on lobbyists for policy because they don;t have any actual political values of their own.
This has generated hollowed out lobbyist talking points which are sold as policy and which ultimately turn out to be some regulatory change that enables their donors to gain more.
This has led to a rise of astro-turf dark money funded activism that whips up right wing sentiment using basic reactionary racism.
This external corporate activism has finally found a way inside the political system with Politicians who were former lobbyists now implementing policy that benefits those lobbyists.
Shane Jones, Chris Bishop, Casey Costello, Nicola Willis, Todd Stephenson, Nicole McKee and Winston Peters are all open examples of this!
The Right will argue that the Left does this with Unions which is a total misrepresentation of the truth.
Yes the Left has Union money, but what the Unions are wanting in return is a regulated employment sector where workers are paid properly and are safe!
Those are altruistic goals that benefit all society!
The Rights lobbyists however don’t give a shit about wider society and care only about their  profit margins.
The venal policy the Right are pushing is damaging to the common good while the Left fights for the common good.
We have professional corporate hitmen masquerading as politicians implement;emenfing policy that benefits their donor class.

A global wave of disillusionment and disenfranchisement has not spared New Zealand, with a majority of respondents to a survey here agreeing that New Zealand society is broken and the country is in decline.
Ipsos New Zealand asked 1001 Kiwis about their hopes for the future and their views of the state of the nation in the final week of February. The results, exclusively obtained by Newsroom, line up with the pollster’s findings from 28 countries overseas: People believe the economy is rigged to benefit the rich and powerful and traditional politicians aren’t doing anything about it.
Three in five respondents told Ipsos that New Zealand society was in decline and that the country is broken, aligning closely with results from overseas. This is the first time New Zealand has been included in this survey, which Ipsos has run elsewhere five times since 2016.
…the reason Kiwis believe the economy is rigged to benefit the rich and powerful and traditional politicians aren’t doing anything about it is because THE ECONOMY IS RIGGED TO BENEFIT THE RICH AND POWERFUL AND TRADITIONAL POLITICIANS AREN’T DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT!
The whole game is rigged and neither National or Labour (or any of the artificial flavorings that may be added to the mix) have any intention of changing it. Things need to change.

They offer roads, roads and more roads. But it’s not really an offer as you will pay for them with tolling, road user charges and increased taxes. Seems Simeon Brown was dropped on his head at birth( 13 years ago) or they simply poured excess roading cement into his head, either way, he has fallen for the age old National party line of “we are the party of roads”. Apparently roads assist with high unemployment, poor health funding and the exporting of the brightest to Australia.

Every time National get elected they cut taxes and shrink the capacity of the state to engage in the economy. There has to be a strong enough counter narrative within the political and economic culture in favor of public services and growing state capacity. That argument needs to made and won before the countries tax base disappears altogether.

stop importing more people and concentrate on housing and feeding ourselves properly. become energy efficient and reduce reliance on imported energy. de-financialize and support FREE enterprise. nz needs to de-couple from the hegemon and be COMPLETELY INDEPENDANT as a nation. including militarily. grow some fucking balls NZ.

Some think New Zealand Society is broken and in decline because they are constantly told this by the wankers that use it as a justification to slash everything to benefit their sponsors. The messengers are accelerating the decline.
We need more workers living in cars in the factory car parks .
We need more kids eating stale sandwiches
We need more big cardboard boxes for the homeless when we kick them out of social housing
We need less access to health and well being
We need higher unemployment
We need more small businesses to close
We need more population
we need more urban sprawl
we need more roads and 55 ton trucks to destroy them
We need to destroy the sea bed and fishing grounds ASAP so we can mine it to death
We need to drill more empty gas wells and make the poor pay for them
