Infrastructure politics: Labour not sure about Bishop’s calls for politicians to be less political

Infrastructure Minister Chris Bishop has put out a call to infrastructure spokespeople from across Parliament to work together to take some of the politics out of infrastructure – heeding the call of many in the sector who complain about the see-saw approach successive governments have taken to infrastructure by cancelling their predecessors’ pet projects in order to fund their own.

Where the fuck does National get off calling for infrastructure bipartisanship?

National is complaining that political parties chop and change the infrastructure projects WHEN THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT THESE SANCTIMONIOUS PRICKS DID THE SECOND THEY GOT INTO POWER!!!!

  • The Ferry deal!
  • The Light Rail Deal!
  • The Onslow Dam
  • Killing the petrol tax that funds these projects!

On the one hand National says Government’s chopping and changing the infrastructure projects are the problem WITHOUT EVEN FLINCHING that they did exactly that 10 months ago after they won power!

The total lack of awareness they are displaying is just as jaw dropping as Luxon, a 7 property owning, Hawaiian Holiday home multimillionaire talking about ‘nice to haves’.

What the fuck would this rich entitled prick know anything about ‘Nice to haves’?

How much must you have hated Jacinda for having the temerity to save 20 000 lives during a once in a century pandemic for this level of hypocrisy from National to be acceptable?

  1. I too was gob smacked by that announcement .I can only think Bishop must have been snorting some smack before he started spouting .Clearly his plan is to set in stone what ever national think should happen then expect everyone else to roll over and go with what they want .This is merely replacing the existing agency with another twice the size undera different name and then saying look we reduced the size of government .Between this and Seymours white elephant thats over 100 extra jobs paying 140k per year .This organization needs to be like the reserve bank completely independent of parliament and should create projects after being approached by district councils or other agencies like waka kotahi .No government should then have any input as funding would be arranged by the agency its self .All road user charges and fuel taxes would go directly to the agency .100 billion of projected work is way under as the road from warkworth north will take 30 billion for a start .As it is dealing with infrastructure i see no mention of water and waste water in this plan .There is another 190 billion right ther and are classed as infrastructure so should also come under the same umbrella then perhaps we can justify have 100 people working here .

  2. If Labour wants to campaign on pointing to the Auckland Light Rail, the cost blowouts for ferry terminals, and the 2040 date for Lake Onslow to be operational, please go ahead.

ALR and Lake Onslow will arrive the same year as Labour’s capital gains tax.

    • The ferries tax cut Willis at the expense of health for all New Zealand axed. Yeah Ada you backed a real winner in the dictatorship National government.
Meanwhile the ferry service National have confined to the bottom of the straight.

  3. What happened to the former bipartisan agreement on building houses that was promoted by national when in opposition ?.They canned it before the election because the donors wanted to take over the farms in Pukekohe .

  4. Of course, politicians when in power want their policies to be accepted as “bi-partisan”. The deep state and our foreign overlords also want bi-partisan policies. Funny thing is that the people do not. They have had a gutsful of bi-partisan neo-liberalism, colonialism and war mongering. They would prefer democracy to a bi-partisan jack-up.
