Attacks: There are no safe places for the militarily-dominated population in Gaza, who find themselves subjected to airstrikes and other missile attacks on buildings, homes and many essentialfacilities, as well as constant gunfire and invasions by Israeli forces. The Israeli Navy continues to fire missiles, targeting facilities and buildings along the entire Gaza shoreline.
Victims: 40 more people killed in Gaza now bring the total number of deaths, since 7 October, to at least 39,790. With another 140 wounded, that figure has risen to more than 92,002. The daily average number of men, women and children killed in Gaza is at least 129 and, that of those injured, it is more than 299.
Over 100 killed in Israeli strike on Gaza City school-turned-shelter,
The al-Tabeen School victims were killed as they performed dawn prayers in the shelter, with at least three Israeli missiles ripping through the complex. Rescuers in Gaza said an Israeli air strike on a school housing displaced Palestinians killed over 100 people on Saturday, sparking international condemnation against Israel. The bombardment of al-Tabeen School and mosque drew criticism from across the Middle East and beyond alongside calls for a ceasefire, after international mediators invited the warring sides to resume talks towards a long-sought truce and hostage-release deal.
Civil Defence rescuers said three Israeli missiles hit the complex in Gaza City while people were performing dawn prayers. “They dropped a missile on them while they were just praying,” said one woman, mourning over a dead child shrouded in a plastic body bag. “Those who were inside the mosque were all killed,” said local resident Abu Wassim. “Even the floor above, where women and children were sleeping, was completely burned.” Civil Defence spokesman Mahmoud Bassal told AFP that “bodies were torn apart.” Bassal told a press conference that eleven children and six women were among those killed at the school shelter, “and there are many unidentified body parts”. Israel’s brutal military campaign in Gaza has killed at least 39,790 people, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry, and the territory has been subject to more than ten months of war. The European Union’s foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, said the school strike left him “horrified”. “For several weeks, school buildings have been repeatedly targeted, with an intolerable number of civilian victims,” the French Foreign Ministry said.
