Announce protest actions, general chit chat or give your opinion on issues we haven’t covered for the day.

The Editor doesn’t moderate this blog,  3 volunteers do, they are very lenient to provide you a free speech space but if it’s just deranged abuse or putting words in bloggers mouths to have a pointless argument, we don’t bother publishing.

All in all, TDB gives punters a very, very, very wide space to comment in but we won’t bother with out right lies or gleeful malice. We leave that to the Herald comment section.

EDITORS NOTE: – By the way, here’s a list of shit that will get your comment dumped. Sexist abuse, homophobic abuse, racist abuse, anti-muslim abuse, transphobic abuse, Chemtrails, 9/11 truthers, Qanon lunacy, climate deniers, anti-fluoride fanatics, anti-vaxxer lunatics, 5G conspiracy theories, the virus is a bioweapon, some weird bullshit about the UN taking over the world  and ANYONE that links to fucking infowar.

  1. This article (in the link below) highlights what a circus our health system has become.

It could be used as the storyline for a new Yes Minister episode.

Nobody in charge seemingly knows what the hell is going on.

We can’t even get confirmation on the number of nurses we are short.

To top that off, in the middle of a nursing shortfall, hundreds’ of international nurses are leaving because they can’t find jobs.

And it gets worse, spreading to Immigration NZ as well.

Apparently, international nurses had been told one of Immigration New Zealand’s requirements was for nurses to have offers of employment before they could move off the occupational registration visa. At the same time, some had been told they needed to hold a visa to work.

So it’s a case of employers saying if you don’t have a work visa, you can’t apply for this position, while Immigration NZ is saying if you come with a job offer, we will give you work visa.

  2. And we were told that we had to jettison government as being inefficient before the 1980s.
If we had chutzpah we would have a daily or weekly satirical show along the lines of Le Canard*. We could get laughs as from Yes Minister. The French know more about gummint and protecting their country than we do.

Our sentiments came over during my childhood, and don’t seem to have changed to be more incisive yet. The Yeomen of England in the opera Merrie England by Sir Edward German lyrics written by Basil Hood (relation to Robin?)
The words seem to be under copyright, as they come up blank on request. Here is what I have remembered for 60? years and a little excerpt from the Proms 2010 from a singer who might be English. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iUUFv27YUGw
Who are the yeomen, the yeomen of England?
    The freemen are the yeomen..
Strong were the arms they bore, when they went out to war
Stronger their promises? for the freedom of England.
And nations to eastward and nations to westward
    All something of England.
No other land could bear them, but their motherland old England
And on her broad bosom shall they ever lie.
Something like that, not mentioning how men were kidnapped in press gangs to serve the Royal Navy leaving their families poverty stricken, bereft. etc etc.
