Green Party co-leader Chlöe Swarbrick speaks at AGM

Green Party co-leader Chlöe Swarbrick has urged the party faithful to build the biggest Green movement the world has ever seen.

Alt Right Folk Singer and NZ First apologist Chris Trotter has already charmingly shat on Chloe’s goal of inspiring the largest mass movement, and while he raises salient points, the challenge of how Chloe leads the largest mass movement isn’t just a problem for the Greens, it’s a question to the wider left wing movement, a movement that Alt Right Folk Singer and NZ First apologist Chris Trotter sailed away from a while ago.

We need more Democratic Infrastructure.

The upgrade in democratic infrastructure 3 Waters and Māori Wards represented was a realisation of the Treaty Principles and an extension of the co-Governance frameworks that ACT and National themselves had created!!!

To now use a one person one vote Puritanism to mask naked racism at the mere concept that Māori should be included is insult to injury, especially when we need MORE democratic infrastructure, not less!

We need Universal Student Union Membership back on every Campus to resource and ignite democratic infrastructure amongst young people.

We need Universal Union Membership of every migrant worker to ensure their aren’t being exploited and migration isn’t causing our infrastructure to gridlock by ensuring good wages that are equal to what the domestic population enjoy so domestic workers know they aren’t being displaced.

We need a Māori Parliament to give extra voice to Māori.

We need Fair Pay Agreements to cover every worker.

We need Community resilience infrastructure.

We need adult education at schools, we need more community gardens.

We need more Democratic Infrastructure not less!

The carnage this Government has blitzkrieged in just 10months is unforgivable and their hubris insulting:

  •  Racist attack on local council Māori wards
  • Cancelling Māori Health Authority
  • Manufacturing public health crisis to justify cut backs.
  • Repealing OT legislation forcing interaction with Iwi so they can green lighting a mass new tsunami of uplifts for Social Investment Bog Data investment.
  • Throwing 50 000 beneficiaries off welfare including the disabled and drug addicts.
  • Promising cancer patients 14 new drugs and only funding half of them for twice the price.
  • Cancelling the Ferry’s only to spend more money for less Ferry!
  • Rigging Charter schools
  • Privatisation agenda in social housing
  • Allowing property developers to create urban sprawl ghettos.
  • Giving Chris Bishop, Simeon Brown and Dr Pork Shane Jones the power of Muldoon on meth with the Fast Track Powers!
  • Taking $3billion from climate change funds.
  • Allowing corporate dairy to avoid paying for their pollution.
  • Pushing 17000 kids into poverty to pay for tax cuts we can’t afford.
  • Dumping 3 waters to allow water rates to spike.
  • Military Boot Camps that don’t work.
  • Gutting public transport.
  • Allowing Newshub to fall over so there is less scrutiny of policy.
  • Allowing the donor calls to dictate policy.
  • Bending over backwards for the Tobacco Industry, Mining Industry and Real Estate Pimps
  • Allowing bosses to sack workers and Landlords to kick out renters
  • Getting NZ into Americas latest military adventure in the Red Sea
  • Tough on crime posturing that creates counter productive outcomes
  • Massive cuts to public spending that will become austerity next year.

The damage this hard right, racist, climate denying, beneficiary bashing Government is causing will be intergenerational.

The response must be communal.

Meanwhile the planet is melting, cost of living at 5.4% and economy is plunging.

How Chloe leads the largest mass movement isn’t just a problem for the Greens, it’s one we must all engage in outside of paywalls.

  1. “Salient points,” so Trotters analysis is correct?

The last mass movement in NZ was the Springbok Tour protests. A very black white issue that did see participants from all walks of life including rugby players. If the greens focused only on the environment they could have a mass movement because the environment affects most things (except pronouns).

“The upgrade in democratic infrastructure, 3 Waters”. It didn’t look like an upgrade in democracy. It looked like an expropriation of rate payer owned assets to Maori. It would have been better if the Maori King who says he owns the rain had simply demanded a royalty.

    • FIFY – The upgrade in democratic infrastructure, 3 Waters”. It didn’t look like an upgrade in democracy. It looked like an expropriation of rate payer owned assets “BACK” to Maori

      • Right, so Maori built all that physical infrastructure with their own capital and labour did they? Oh wait, no they didn’t.

  2. Chloe Swarbrick and her people could drag AO/NZ out of the ditch we were pushed into by uniting farmers with Maori with our down stream agrarian service industry providers. Our only industry worthy of close inspection, our primary industry, is producing food and wool for export.
Yep. That would mean you 14 multi-billionaires, you 3118 multi-millionaires with your $50 mil net each and you Australian owned banks being the second most profitable in the world here only to Canada would be fucked and not in that good way. The rest of us, however, would be just fine thank you very much. We’d flourish after a proper organic Green Party drenching and dipping to rid us of the parasites.
The NZ Initiative. These fuckers effectively launder farmer money. The money our farmers never, and can never be allowed to see.
Notice the four Australian owned banks in the list of crooks within the link below. ASB. BNZ. ANZ and Westpac. Every crook and their minions are also listed here.

  3. “We need Fair Pay Agreements to cover every worker”
No we do not. Bureaucratic mess that will not help anyone.
UBI is a far fairer and easier method to ensure everyone has the ability to prosper.

  4. Yes, we do need more democracy. Indeed any democracy at all would be a good start. We don’t need an unelected foreign monarch with extraordinary reserve powers as head of state. We don’t need security services which can dictate policy to “elected” governments.
We need politicians who are accountable. Truly accountable, as in “the moment you betray those who elected you, those electors can sack you without ceremony”, not as in “stiff bikky, I’m here for another three years and there ain’t nothing you can do about it”.
The very notion of someone “heading a mass movement” is profoundly anti-democratic. It implies that the person “at the head” can use the public to achieve a purpose of his or her own devising. That is not the function of a democratic leader. A rangatira is there to serve and represent the people. Not to use them towards his or her own ends, regardless of how well intended or altruistic those ends might be.
