Apparently the Left wing strategy of sitting on your hands and doing nothing by offering no solutions to the 100 day right romper stomper lurch to the right of this hard right racist climate denying beneficiary bashing Government doesn’t win votes.

How surprising.

Oh and confidence is plunging…

New Zealand Government Confidence Rating slumps 13pts to 83 in June

The Roy Morgan Government Confidence Rating dropped 13ts to 83 in June. Just over a third of electors, 35.5% (down 7.5% points), said New Zealand was ‘heading in the right direction’ while a majority of 52.5% (up 5.5% points) said New Zealand was ‘heading in the wrong direction’.

The latest ANZ-Roy Morgan Consumer Confidence Rating for New Zealand was down 1.7pts to 83.2 and is still above the latest Consumer Confidence figure in Australia of 81.3 on June 24-30, 2024.

… and the Left have been decimated by losing so much Male vote…

Men clearly favour National/ ACT/ NZ First while women clearly favour Labour/ Greens/ Maori

On an overall basis, men heavily favour the National/ ACT/ NZ First coalition government on 56.5%, almost double the opposition Labour/ Greens/ Maori Party on only 38.5% – a gap of 18% points.

In contrast, a majority of women are behind the opposition Labour/ Greens/ Maori on 51% – ahead of the governing National/ ACT/ NZ First on 43.5% – a gap of 7.5% points.

…turns out woke middle class identity politics helps push men towards the Right.

The lack of anything vaguely looking like a committed front against the anti-Māori, anti-Treaty, anti-environment, anti-worker and anti-renter agenda of this Government has seen the left stall while the Right have attracted.

There are of course political winners and losers.

WINNERS:

Greens: Despite all the internal bullshit, they only dropped 1 point. If Darleen Tana cared about the Party, she would step down and resign now and make a clean cut of it for the good of the Party. At this stage, it doesn’t matter if any panel clears her, exploiting migrant labour is a value statement that won’t ever go away. It would be like making Golriz their small retailer spokesperson.

Cooker Kingdom: NZF requires the fetid stewing pot of the Conspiracy Kingdom to keep over 5%, that’s why you see Winston playing all these culture war revenge fantasies up to keep their feral toxic support. Look at the Inquiry into Covid as an example, The problem for Winston is that he can’t ever give the Cookers what they want because what they want is a Nuremberg styled trial where Jacinda gets hung on the steps of Parliament. Winston is playing with fire here, let’s hope he gets burnt.

LOSERS:

Luxon: His wooden C3P0 routine mixed with his dork Dad routine mixed with his butch tough guy to compensate for Winston and Seymour overshadowing him routine mixed with his losing his temper at media for being challenged routine seems to be wearing thin on voters. Despite National going up, he flatlines.

Māori Party: Their Malcolm X radical routine might inspire their supporters, but it’s the kiss of death to everyone else. A Māori Parliament, refusing Labour and the Greens from speaking at the Budget Day protests and the eye rolling drama of their hats, it’s all a bit much and the Māori Party are dooming the political left from ever beating the Right.

The Political Left: If Labour, Greens and Māori Party can’t work together, we will be locked out of power until 2029. By that point the Rights privatisation agenda will have stripped all assets so the Democratic State has no economic sovereignty meaning we will be endlessly lost in a never ending culture war over identity.

New Zealand: The last election was a grudge fuck against Labour and we elected a hard right Government that was bonded only in their shared glee to implement right wing feelings that are counter productive and expensive.

Environment: As the planet melts, this Government support the polluters and have stripped $3billion out of climate change funds.

Workers: As unemployment red flag bingo begins, workers are more exploitable than ever before.

Renters: We now have the highness rents in the OECD from a Parliament of Landlords.

CONCLUSIONS:

The Political Left aren’t trying so they won’t be that disappointed by this flat result, but the fact the majority didn’t see a win in the budget and with Luxon being as popular as puberty blockers at a MAGA rally, Right wing strategists will be concerned that the looming economic recession could knock the entire House of Cards over.

Meanwhile the planet burns, infrastructure crumbles and we are borrowing billions for tax cuts we can’t afford.

    • Doh…the demographic of this country is changing with each boomer funeral. Greens are for capital gains tax on property and a wealth tax on the corporate sector. Home ownership rates are dropping as people pay for overpriced rental dumps to gouging landlords–younger people know this.

The opposition does need to step up more or the CoC vandals will run down this country to the point where it will be difficult to repair by next election. Maybe Winston will blow a fuse when he has to relinquish the Deputy Prime Ministership, and an early election will be triggered.

    • ” Martyn – Greens at 14.5%…How ”

A reasonable chunk of that support is angry LINO voters.

    • If you are not for the right it would be hard to vote Labour as there is little difference and to vote TPM is a step too far for most Pakeha so it only leaves the Greens as a protest vote.

      • Trevor “ … the Greens as a protest vote”? Mon Dieu ! This lot got in as an anti-Labour protest and that’s not worked out well, but let’s not go full kamikaze. Labour has time to up its game, and there’s TOP; if Peters did call a snap election, he and Jones could be a force to be reckoned with: the MSM pre-election boycott of Winston Peters can be seen as recognition of this.

  1. A useless government with a disastrous opposition. We could be talking about this time last year. Only difference is it’s now more reckless, backward, and in the pocket of donors.

  2. Yeah, well, the so-called Right wing are on a roll all over the show while the Left is, and has been for quite some time now – dead. As such, its time we moved away from this ruling class orchestrated two sided illusion and just go back to good, old fashioned, party names, granted that the Labour party name isn’t up to much either, right now, but that could all change in a heart beat with, to use modern day parlance – a change of ‘wrapper’ to inspire a new wave. Mind you, there are more than enough issues that any opposition party worth a damn could smash this current mob over the head with, if indeed, they were worth a damn. Clearly, we are getting what we deserve – idiots all round.

  3. Jacinda seemed to care that people liked her and did as little as possible to keep the voters happy Luxon does not need to be liked to function. I am sure he wants to be liked rather than hated but he would not let it effect his decisions to follow his aims for the country and push his team.
Jacinda rose to the occasion with covid and the massacre. but lacked the leadership and ruthlessness to push her team on running the country.By tye time she quit she looked tired and defeated.

    • No Trevor he wants to be liked by his donors. How you can’t see that by now is beyond me. As for Seymour you can be “right” without being a complete wanker. He can’t and is.

      • Refreshing Wheel, you get right through the cotton wool. The poor bruised nitwits who lean to the right will need an earthquake to jerk them erect.

  4. It’s only been 250 or so days since the election so we can’t be too critical of Labour. I understand they have almost reached a decision on whether or not to have chocolate biscuits at afternoon tea time. Once that is sorted they are ready to go.

  5. If the Daily Blog posts and comments are any indicator, the antiChina and antiRussia sentiments suggest elements of the NZ Left are stagnant, smelling of brain rot.

    • Labours whole strategy. Rudderless and pointless under a captain who is dozing off at the wheel in a hurricane.

  6. What the roy morgan poll doesn’t show is that since the late 1980’s we’ve had no Labour party.
A right wing neo-liberal Labour minister of finance parasite called roger douglas and his greedy friends saw to that. I try to remain conscious of the fact that 40 years ago many of you were only ten years old or younger so you may not have an awareness of what that evil cunt did to us, for why, or for how much.
@ Countryboy is absolutely correct in writing that New Zealand must have a Royal Commission of Inquiry into our politics and its economy before it’s too late, and there’s nothing worse than too late.
We should ignore the pathetic rabble of rich arse holes in our politics and instead focus on trying new approaches to achieve new results. We have to rise above the weak little quagmire that is our swampy politics and invent then trial new and curative approaches to what is a disastrous tangle of perverted, artless, classless, dull witted money fetishists.

    • We haven’t had a Green Party either. They talk well, behave badly and achieve nothing for the environment. The 20 year olds don’t notice. Bless.

  7. She’ll be right chippie is on the ground in Auckland this week to sample a few sausage rolls.

  8. Personally I hope Chippie hangs around forever he is the weapon of the right.
In all honesty he is in my opinion an absolute idiot.

    • What would Chippie and many of his professional student politician mates do in the insecure ‘outside’ world? How would he bludge off the free market and earn 200K…? Who would employ someone who has practically fucked up every portfolio project he’s touched. He’ll have to hope all his rentals are paid off, poor Labour guy. I know, he could become head of his crown jewel Te Pukenga….yeah that’s it.

    • You do realise that no one on this blog takes your opinion seriously don’t you Bob?

        • Really really really really really really really really really really really really really really

      • Incel you should know that your opinion is misdirected – if you mean Bob1st. There is another boring Bob now – boring because he can’t work out that it is confusing having two bobs bobbing. That is if he wants to be read, if not he is wasting our time.

    • Personally I hope Luxon hangs around forever he is the weapon of the Left.
In all honesty he is in your opinion an absolute idiot.

      FIFY

    • Bob it’s your wonderful sense of self awareness that makes you well qualified to have such an opinion.

  9. My my many of you seem overconfident by the time the CoC have finished ruining us after the 3 years people will be desperate for change what that might be, we won’t know. But i find it hard to listen to luther he’s getting eviler by the day

    • I agree the coalition apologists are rife on the ground. Money talks as we know the election was bought just . Even with all that money they needed NZFirst and doesn’t he just love it. Where does the Labour Party and the left get any media traction only if they do something bad. The media are very asleep at the wheel and will soon be in bed. This government is getting away with murder and we all know it. Parliament is not sitting hasn’t sat for weeks. Luxon is on a constant holiday. There is absolutely no transparency in any decisions being made. Things are being sold off under our noses by deception. We have a housing crisis, no houses being built, we have a health crisis hospitals have a hiring freeze. Willis has already spent millions of next years health budgets David Seymour is calling all the shots and is even getting away with snap chatting teenagers “ all in the best possible taste” of course.

  10. Greens will hit 20% when Dharleen Tana is released and back doing her important mahi.

    • Even the 18-25 year olds and Remuera « at home » tea party pear clutchers will work out that the Greens have done nothing for the environment. They are great on gender politics, shame the world is boiling.

  11. Ooh that was quick. Maybe you’re onto it well after all. We’ll have to watch you to see you r sharpness.
