Announce protest actions, general chit chat or give your opinion on issues we haven’t covered for the day.

The Editor doesn’t moderate this blog,  3 volunteers do, they are very lenient to provide you a free speech space but if it’s just deranged abuse or putting words in bloggers mouths to have a pointless argument, we don’t bother publishing.

All in all, TDB gives punters a very, very, very wide space to comment in but we won’t bother with out right lies or gleeful malice. We leave that to the Herald comment section.

EDITORS NOTE: – By the way, here’s a list of shit that will get your comment dumped. Sexist abuse, homophobic abuse, racist abuse, anti-muslim abuse, transphobic abuse, Chemtrails, 9/11 truthers, Qanon lunacy, climate deniers, anti-fluoride fanatics, anti-vaxxer lunatics, 5G conspiracy theories, the virus is a bioweapon, some weird bullshit about the UN taking over the world  and ANYONE that links to fucking infowar.

What have NZ/AO and this cryptocurrency star got in common – they are both run as a ponzi scheme. We charge people to come here and try to get them to invest millions here so we have a solid balanced background of assets and investments to borrow against so we can appear to be running a viable economy.

And that means that we have to have something to sell to these incomers. What happens when we have sold everything – well we will find something more. Otherwise there will be a giant collapse. How devastating to the people with investments and money; we others? Well soup kitchens if we are lucky. Woven huts out of hemp for them hah hah, they say.

  2. NZ actor ‘s hunger strike –
    May 22 – https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/former-shortland-street-actor-takes-hunger-strike-protest-over-war-in-gaza-to-parliament-in-bid-to-speak-with-winston-peters/VJHNYJBDYNF7POL3NRZWX4AKNE/
…Will Alexander has entered his fifth day of a zero-calorie hunger strike, earlier saying it was sparked by his belief that the New Zealand Government is “supporting Israel’s genocide of Palestinians”.

“I don’t know how to live in a world in which children are killed in such horrific numbers and so blatantly against international law with the active support of the New Zealand Government,” Alexander said in a video announcing the protest…
Alexander, who is from Christchurch and is part of the Palestinian Solidarity Network Aotearoa (PSNA), believes it is unacceptable…

…He wants the coalition to pull New Zealand troops from the Red Sea and maintain, then double, its contributions for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA).
Alexander met with two senior advisors to Foreign Affairs Minister Winston Peters and a senior official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade on Thursday.
“We talked about these three demands and where the New Zealand government is at with those,” Alexander said.

“We focused mainly on UNRWA and why we haven’t funded UNRWA sooner when other countries like Japan, Australia, Canada, Denmark, Finland and most of the countries who withdrew their funding from UNRWA have actually reinstated it after a UN report saying that the allegations made by Israel against UNRWA were baseless.”…
Alexander was not convinced Thursday’s meeting made a difference.
“I feel as though they did a lot of nodding and smiling and writing things down, however, I don’t know whether it will have made any difference or whether the message will have got through.”

In a post on X, Peters said the meeting reflected his views that the right to protest was sacrosanct, the country benefited from the public being engaged in foreign policy and political leaders had a responsibility to listen to everyone’s voice….
    (Winston being a statesman!)

    Friday 7 June https://www.1news.co.nz/2024/06/07/nz-to-make-unrwa-payment-on-schedule-and-in-coming-days-peters/
…Foreign Minister Winston Peters has confirmed New Zealand will be making its annual payment of $1 million to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA).
It came after the government said in January that it would “assess the situation” in Gaza before releasing the planned payment…

(When was this payment last increased – $1 million is chickenfeed these days?)

Why don’t police change there approach from punitive to correction? Stop the bloke usually, and say we have to prevent you from driving for a short while for your own and others safety and prevent damage. Then take him back to the station, give him a drink of tea and a bun and lock him up for the night, without cuffing him around the head or throwing him into the cell,; probably he will be obnoxious, the police will be restrained. He will get told off by a magistrate the next day who would demand a promise of better behaviour and a definite action planned by the perp as to make a change for the better. I believe that there is not a follow up to lawbreakers who are supposed to attend courses. They should enter a compact. Working with the individual is needed, by society and perhaps probation officers could do this.
and there would be more of them and funded reasonably to do so.

(But hey, stop, this gummint wants to fund a modern country on yesterday’s threepence, or perhaps a farrrr-thing. They have warm bottoms, but let the thinking machines do all the work while they get the salary. What a scam. Anyway those were my ideas, people-oriented.)

This might prevent police needing to put down spikes and chasing the guy causing him to get further reckless. The police are entering into the whole reckless scenario themselves in their present approach.
