How it started vs how it's going

Well, the budget made it clear, this is a Government of Landlords, for Landlords in the interests of Landlords.

We are literally killing cancer patients by not funding next generation medicines so rich landlords can get a tax cut!

We are a meaner more awful country for this budget, we have two political parties, National and Labour who are not prepared to tax the rich to properly fund our social and physical infrastructure.

It is a media coup to claim this is a ‘vanilla’ budget or ‘middle of the road’ budget.

It is not!

It is a budget of billion cuts for the rich!

This Government has borrowed more than Labour did, but when Labour did it, it was to save us from Covid, when National did it, it was for tax cuts that benefit their rich donors!

Let that sink in!!!

  1. 100% Also social housing obviously is being privatised with interest deductibility* and accommodation supplements with a fat capital gain at the end for the landlords enabling the government to slither out from its social housing obligations. Enriching Landlords rather than the public provision. Neoliberalism in pure form. Not to mention all the motels and boardo houses getting paid for emergency accommodation.
    * It’s disgusting the public purse are paying get rich by capital gains Landlords’ interest bills. What the F*ck is going on!! O YEH most of Parasite Palace are friggin Landlords aren’t they!

    • I forgot when those Landlords sell off their cash cow boxes we don’t even collect a Capital Gains tax!!! The Landlords don’t sweat they pay property managers to do the job of keeping the bennies in line. On top the foreign aussie banks make a killing with all those interest payments being off shored to them. Biggest Neoliberal rort going.

    • HATE her politics but hey dude, the sexist language in my view has not place in serious debate, plus it hurts many women on the left who yearn for a fairer society. Just saying.

      • Yeah, I didn’t declare class war on the poor and then inform the nation how I should use my hunger as a motivating factor in reversing my degenerate spondylosis, or how the kids that go to bed hungry tonight should, instead of the breakfast they already know they aren’t getting, or the parents who have gone without again to make sure they don’t.

I’m not outraged at fucking off some fat arse, no will power, rich twat’s sensibilities, or anyone’s. It’s not just politics anymore, it’s a dirty war, and existential.

      • Those who do dirty can expect to receive dirty – no excuses because of ….
If the cap fits wear it, and if it is a dunce’s cap it fits anyone who is a dunce. Just saying. Those who want to pretend that they will wear velvet gloves when sparring but actually have steel knucklebones underneath deserve what they get.

  2. Restoration of the tax break for landlords was an election plank and it reversed the move made by Labour to change a system that had been in place for 128 years. Business plans were made with the tax break in the mix and it caused many to quit the rental market make homes to rent scarce and costly when the plan was changed by Labour.

    • The shortage of rental properties is down to a lack of building houses not a lack of tax breaks Trevor. It’s about time one of our governments reformed our outdated tax system to take pressure off working people and incentivise investment in the productive areas of the economy. Giving tax relief to landlords does none of this. All we have done over the generations is kept kicking the can down the road, out of naked self interest leaving future generations to pay for our lack of forsight. No wonder people are bailing out to Australia and other shores.

    • They had a tax break still if they purchased a newly built home, how can purchasing existing homes & making it more difficult for first-home buyers to compete ever increase the rental supply compared to those seeking a house to rent anyway? If existing homes are sold to first-home buyers then there is at least 1 less rental home needed so your thinking is faulty.

  4. “We are literally killing cancer patients by not funding next generation medicines so rich landlords can get a tax cut”

    Repeat that ad nauseum.

National had a chance to embarrass Labour on cancer treatment.
However Labour never promised to increase funding as National did.
National are filthy liars and corrupt. Disgusting a government for the rich by the rich will let people die because of ideology.
Look for Kings birthday honors to be full of wealthy inductees.

  5. Our elected representative’s are driving the country into the ground except those who own more than two rental properties.

This whole business regarding funding life saving cancer drugs should be a human right to access with no or minimal cost funded out of general taxes.

As a country we don’t value human life like we value the power of money.

No one should be surprised at this Willis woman who did her training with Key and the other human maggots from 2008 at just how merciless and vile these people including Willis actually are.

  6. For some ‘heavy’ light relief about the housing problem and landlords. Enjoy.

  7. It’s a National budget for National people, why are you so surprised? Luxon looks nothing like Ardern, so why the confusion?
