The International Rule Of Law Breaks Down under US pressure.

” The ICJ is the highest court of the United Nations system. All its Members States have the obligation to comply with its decisions.
The respect of International law is not an option: disregarding a decision of the #ICJ will weaken the rules-based world order the EU supports and promotes everywhere.”

High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell Fontelles,
….the International Court of Justice has, by 13 votes to 2, requested the Government of Israel to “immediately halt its military offensive, and any other action in the Rafah Governorate, which may inflict on the Palestinian group in Gaza conditions of life that could bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part. Maintain open the Rafah crossing for unhindered provision at scale of urgently needed basic services and humanitarian assistance. Take effective measures to ensure the unimpeded access to the Gaza Strip of any commission of inquiry, fact-finding mission or other investigative body mandated by competent organs of the United Nations to investigate allegations of genocide. Submit a report to the Court on all measures taken to give effect to this order, within one month as from the date of this order.”

Joe Biden breaks the law

In a breach of the International rule of law Joe Biden has pressured Egypt into keeping the Rafah Crossing into Gaza closed

On Friday the International Court of Justice Issued a legally binding order on Israel to not invade the border town of Rafah in Gaza. The ICJ also specifically ordered that Israel must open the Rafah border crossing from Egypt into Gaza for the entry of aid.

In defiance of the ICJ legally binding order, Joe Biden pressured the Egyptian ruler Abdel Al Sisi to allow Israel to keep the Rafah Crossing into Gaza closed

The pro-US military dictator of Egypt, General Abdel Al-Sisi, in a phone call with the US President, has agreed with the US and Israel to keep the Rafah Crossing closed.
Under the agreement brokered by Joe Biden, Egypt and Israel agree that the only crossing allowed to remain open into Southern Gaza for the delivery of aid will be through the Kerem Shalom crossing in Israel.

https://www.npr.org/2024/05/26/g-s1-1069/aid-trucks-begin-entering-gaza-under-agreement-with-egypt-to-bypass-rafah#:

“Today, I spoke with President Al-Sisi of Egypt on our continued efforts to secure the release of hostages and address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
I appreciate his commitment to allow UN assistance to flow from Egypt through the Kerem Shalom crossing.”
No aid has has been distributied in Southern Gaza since Israel began its offensive against Rafah and illegally seized control of the Rafah crossing
Aid trucks from Jordan sent through the West Bank into Israel destined for the Kerem Shalom crossing have been looted and burnt by Israeli settlers and extremists as they pass through Israel, while IDF soldiers and border guards look on without intervening. The UN reports that aid that did get through the Kerem Shalom crossing could not be distributed due to the Israeli offensive.

The US brokered agreement between Egypt and Israel to keep the Rafah crossing closed breaches international law in five major ways.

Breach #1 The Camp David accords which is the peace treaty signed between Egypt and Israel specifies that the Rafah Crossing not be under the control of Israel.

Breach #2 The ICJ has ordered the Rafah Crossing to be opened.

Breach #3 The ICJ has ordered the halt of the Israeli offensive against Rafah. (that is preventing the distribution of aid into Gaza).
https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/crggvmyz03vo

Breach #4 The ICJ has ordered has ordered Israel to provide unhindered access, at scale, of aid.
https://www.barrons.com/news/icj-says-israel-must-keep-rafah-crossing-open-for-unhindered-aid-17a57117

Breach #5 The ICJ has ordered access to the Gaza Strip of any commission of inquiry, fact-finding mission or other investigative body mandated by competent organs of the United Nations to investigate allegations of genocide

The agreement between the US, Egypt and Israel to keep Rafah closed and redirect aid to Israeli controlled Kerem Shalom meets none of the ICHJ internationally binding legal orders.

All International binding orders of the ICJ have been ignored and/or broken by the US and its partners, Israel and Egypt.

    • Spoken like a true bully.
Because you think we are powerless and ineffectual you think the Zionists can get away with committing genocide.
But as Martin Luther famously said: “The arc of history may be long but it bends towards justice”

      • That quote is from Martin Luther King. Not the same person as Martin Luther, in case you were not aware of that.

    • Spoken like a true bully:

“Must be frustrating knowing you’re so ineffectual.” gaby

      Yes it is.

Because we are ineffectual and powerless to stop them doesn’t give Israel the right to commit genocide.

    • Are you a Zionist Gaby?

Come on now, you can tell us.

      Yes or No.

It’s a simple question. It is not a trick question.
      Why can’t you answer it?

  1. Thanks for the update Pat love your reporting on apartheid Israel awesome work. America “rules based order” which means that they can make the laws they see fit is to undermined actual ‘rule based international law’. Other democratic western country like Germany Britain, have also used this “rules based orders” to justify arming a genocide in apartheid Israel. The west has no moral compass when it comes to human rights especially when a genocide is happening on social media before our very eyes.

    Free Palestine

  2. Any regime that continues to collaborate with ‘israel’ and its puppets in the US and Egypt is guilty of genocide. Like the Luxon regime, with the multiple US intelligence bases here that are used to help the ‘israelis’ target high-profile targets like journalists, doctors, and nurses.

  3. So the ICJ ordered Israel to open a crossing which they legally have no control over. And Egypt, who legally has control and isn’t the subject of an ICJ order, agreed to keep it closed.

    Hmm.

    • The zionist entity could just order their Egyptian puppets to open it or their US puppet to order Egypt to open it.

        • Whataboutism

          Really?

…. the rhetorical practice of responding to an accusation or difficult question by making a counteraccusation, by asking a different but related question, or by raising a different issue altogether..

Running out of arguments to defend Israel’s human slaughter in Gaza, are you Ann?
Your ridiculous and spurious whataboutism doesn’t come close tp justifying Israel slaughtering of tens of thousands of Palestinians including 15 thousand children.

Sure, Turkey’s oppression of the Kurds is terrible, Ann, but it doesn’t permit Israel to commit genocide against another people entirely.

Turkey’s oppression of the Kurds has nothing to do with the Palestinians.

Turkey’s oppression of the Kurds, similar to Netanyahu claiming, Germany’s Holocaust of the Jewish people of Europe has something to do with the Palestinian people, cannot be used to justify Israel’s genocide of the Palestinians.

Netanyahu Holocaust remarks: Israeli PM criticised

          BBC 21 October 2015
          https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-34594563

….Angela Merkel said Germany “abides by its responsibility for the Holocaust”.
“We are very clear in our minds about the Nazis’ responsibility for the break with civilisation that was the Shoah,” the German chancellor said.
A senior Palestinian official meanwhile said it showed Mr Netanyahu hated Palestinians so much he was willing to absolve Hitler.,,,,

The same could be said of you Ann.
You hate Palestinians so much you are willing to absolve Erdogan for responsibility of oppressing and killing the Kurds by smearing the Palestinians as being somehow responsible.

          • Gosh Pat, that’s a very long bow you’re drawing. You’ve not heard of al-Husseini’s ardent and prolonged efforts to import the Holocaust to the ME and in particular Palestine? I’m astonished. Here’s some background. https://www.tabletmag.com/sections/news/articles/amin-al-husseini-nazi-concentration-camp.
Can we also apply your schooling on whataboutism to the false moral equivalence between the wars in Gaza and the Ukraine which frequently arise on this site? And accusing me of hating Palestinians because I loath jihad is akin to me smearing you as an anti-semite for your anti-zionist rhetoric. A demeaning ad hominem attack in the manner of B Awakesky is quite unworthy of you.

  4. USA has always ignored international law and world opinion when it conflicts with what USA considers is in its best interest.

  5. Davos WEF MIC Big Banks USA = “rules based order” (loosely translated as “whatever we decide the rules are” ). That basically negates the rule of law. Law is not arbitrary and down to power, it is a mutually respected agreement.

  6. Every single entry and exit point into Gaza is now controlled by the Israeli military.

The distribution of any of the aid that does get into Gaza is at the discretion of the IDF.

All exit and entry of Drs. Journalists and other international witnesses and aid workers including UN personal has been completely stopped by Israel.

International volunteer Drs. and other foreign aid workers presently in Gaza are now trapped and not able to leave.

    https://edition.cnn.com/2024/05/16/middleeast/american-medics-trapped-in-gaza-intl/index.html

Drs. and other international health workers and aid workers who want to give relief for those international volunteers trapped in Gaza have been refused entry.

Sick and wounded Palestinians including children in need of treatment in Egypt have also been prevented from leaving.

    https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/gazas-wounded-children-denied-medical-aid-with-rafah-crossing-closed-2024-05-29/

Often described as the world’s biggest open air prison, Gaza has been transformed into history’s largest open air concentration camp.

    Concentration Camp

    Encyclopedia Britannica

    https://www.britannica.com/topic/concentration-camp

Concentration camp, internment centre for political prisoners and members of national or minority groups who are confined for reasons of state security, exploitation, or punishment, usually by executive decree or military order. Persons are placed in such camps often on the basis of identification with a particular ethnic or political group rather than as individuals and without benefit either of indictment or fair trial. Concentration camps are to be distinguished from prisons interning persons lawfully convicted of civil crimes and from prisoner-of-war camps in which captured military personnel are held under the laws of war. They are also to be distinguished from refugee camps or detention and relocation centres for the temporary accommodation of large numbers of displaced persons…..

Benjamin Netanyahu has just announced that Israel’s campaign of industrial scale extermination of the imprisoned population of Gaza will be continued for more than a year. or until it is completed.

  7. In the interests of transparency here are some questions for you to answer please Pat.
Who arrested 3 of the looters of the aid trucks crossing through from Jordan if the IDF and border guards stood idly by? Is it normal for border guards to accompany aid trucks transiting though Israel?
Why did you not also report that the aid, once through the Kerem Shalom crossing was intercepted and diverted by Hamas? Is Hamas in a better position to “distribute” aid than the UN workers in Gaza?
What are UN workers even doing in Gaza. I was assured from all the authors here that they had been withdrawn months ago. https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/us-calls-out-israel-hamas-after-gaza-aid-shipment-attacked-diverted-2024-05-02/

    • Boy, you sure do hate the heroes who stop you zionists from raping and killing kids, don’t ya?

    • “Why did you not also report that the aid, once through the Kerem Shalom crossing was intercepted and diverted by Hamas?” Ann E

Because I have seen no such reports.

Ann, again you are making another unsubstantiated assertion posed as a question.
Worse than that, Ann, your unsubstantiated assertion posed as a question, that Hamas are diverting the aid, is the same assertion Zionist settleres make for burning aid trucks, for destroying and withholding aid, for beating the Palestinian truck drivers and for assaulting the Israeli peace activists.

Are you a Zionist Ann E?

It is a simple question, Yes or No, Every single anti-Palestinian commenter here, including you Ann, have refused to answer this simple yes or no question.

      Why is that?
It is not a trick question.
If you can’t answer this question, could you tell us why?

Claim you are for transparency, then answer the question.

Ann, you have asked your slanted loaded questions, which you claim are in the interests of “Transparency”. How about some transparency from you.

      Are you a Zionist?

      • You’re getting tiresome Pat. And a bit shouty. Calm down.
I asked you some questions after reading the Reuters article I linked to.
I have previously answered your “Zionist” question and referred you to my post.
I have never received an answer to my questions about your obsession over this.
Please get your slurs correct. I am anti-Hamas, not anti-Palestinian.

  8. So Hamas stole an aid truck, whoop de do at least they demonstrate some humanity compared to Israel. What’s striking is comparing images of starving Palestinians and video after video of Israeli hostages being well fed and appearing healthy. Just saying.

    • You think it is humane to steal, then sell humanitarian aid to the people for whom it is intended? You’re as bad as the destructive settlers.

  9. “Who arrested 3 of the looters of the aid trucks crossing through from Jordan if the IDF and border guards stood idly by?” Ann E

I notice Ann, that you don’t give a URL link to back up your open ended question.

Why don’t you give us your evidence of your veiled assertion framed as an open ended question?

    I mean, why is that?

Is it because it is bullshit?

Using a google search I have not been able to uncover any evidence that the Israeli authorities or police have charged any of the looters let alone three of them for these crimes. Some may have been briefly detained, after the intervention of peace activists, but none were held, or charged with any offence.

It has been reported that only after the intervention of Israeli peace activists, who put their bodies between the aid trucks and the settlers, did the Israeli police remove some of the looters.

‘Solidarity over hatred’: the small band of Israelis stopping settlers obstructing aid trucks

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/article/2024/may/31/solidarity-over-hatred-the-small-band-of-israelis-stopping-settlers-obstructing-aid-trucks

The settlers had received detailed information about the timing, location, and number of trucks that would pass through the checkpoint that morning. What they had not anticipated was that dozens of peace activists had also gathered in Tarqumiya with a specific mission: to prevent the settlers from blocking the vehicles and ensure that the aid continued its journey to Gaza.

“We decided to form this humanitarian guard, because we understand that this a fight over the lives of innocent people in Gaza,” Alon-Lee Green, national co-director of the Jewish-Arab peace coalition Standing Together, a movement mobilising Jewish and Palestinian citizens of Israel in pursuit of peace, equality and social justice. “These are people who have lost their homes [and] their land, people facing starvation……”

The settlers tried to free themselves from the human barrier to reposition themselves in front of the truck, shouting at the peace activists and accusing them of aiding Hamas.
Israeli soldiers approached but said they could not intervene.
Previous footage has appeared to show Israeli soldiers escorting convoys, without taking any action against the settlers….
…..Standing Together’s tactics proved successful. After about half an hour, as a long queue of vehicles formed at the checkpoint, a group of police officers arrived. In front of dozens of peace activists and reporters filming the scene, the police intervened, forcing the settlers to clear the road and allowing the trucks to continue…..

Protesters in Israel arrested after attacking Gaza aid trucks
Footage shows protesters apparently destroying boxes of aid bound for Gaza.

    https://abcnews.go.com/International/protesters-israel-arrested-after-attacking-gaza-aid-trucks/story?id=110220557

What is interesting about this headline Ann, is that nowhere in the body of the reporting of these incidents by journalists Kiara Alfonseca and Will Gretsky was the headline, that Israeli protesters were arrested, backed up.

If you were familiar with how a newsroom works, you would know that the headlines for a reporter’s work are often decided by the editors not the reporter, and often after only a cursory report of the article by the editor This may be what happened here.

    The closest the reporting by Kiara Alfonseca and Will Gretsky gets to saying anything about the Israeli police response to the attacks on the aid convoys is this;

Israeli law enforcement has publicly said only that an investigation into the aid convoy attack is ongoing.

    So how about it Ann?

Why can’t you back up your assertion framed as an open question with some evidence?

    • Please read the attached Reuters link for context to Questions 1 and 2 before going off on your wild accusatory goose chase Pat. The link does not cover Q3 but I’m confident you’ll frame a response to that.

  10. Gotta laugh at Ann and Gaby supporting the Zionist project. How is that for stupid? You use imperialist powers to grant you land where the locals have lived forever. You claim it is your holy right and throw the locals out on some spurious claim of prior ownership two millennium since. Then you kill them. They fight back you kill more. Stupid, but the ultimate stupidity. There are countless hostile Islamic in the region, you think that they won’t throw you out. They will.

  11. You don’t know your jihad doctrine very well do you Nick. “First the Saturday people, then the Sunday people.”
Ya laughin at Spain’s new directive to its foreign affairs officials not to mention the G-word? That’s verboten now, but they were so righteous just last week. Plus ça change plus c’est la même chose …
And Ireland! You must be rolling on the floor at its volte face on migrants. Fancy the proud movers and shakers of antii-semitism (oh noes, I mean anti-zionism of course) being reluctant to grant thousands of young, foreign men the land where locals have lived forever. Retribution for Baltimore West Cork maybe?
Germany too must be a right giggle for you. Mannheim police still searching for a motive. Ha, ha, stoopid huh?
Have a read of Salman Rushdie’s latest musings, there’s a good chap. Lived experience is always enlightening. If that doesn’t appeal Martin Niemoller’s poem has a certain contemporary feel to it. Note the progression from the Saturday to the Sunday people.
