American Campus protests – there’s a difference between Anti-semitism and Anti-Zionism

The manner in which American Mainstream media have smeared the pro-Palestine protesters on US campuses is extreme and grim evidence of what a draconian State America really is.

This is what Free Speech looks like on US Campus…

…the faux anti-semitism charges are a nonsense and don’t justify any of this!

Caitlin Johnstone is scathing of the coverage…

CNN Compares Campus Protesters To Nazis In Stunning Propaganda Segment

In one of the most appalling propaganda segments I have ever seen in my life, CNN’s Dana Bash launched into a fire-and-brimstone sermon on Wednesday comparing anti-genocide university protesters to the brownshirts of Nazi Germany — doing so in defense of a fascistic police crackdown against those very same protesters.

After playing a clip of Zionist activist Eli Tsives theatrically claiming campus protesters at UCLA were blocking him from his classroom, Bash solemnly said, “Again, what you just saw is 2024 in Los Angeles. Hearkening back to the 1930s in Europe, and I do not say that lightly. The fear among Jews in this country is palpable right now.”

According to journalist Jeremy Lindenfeld — who happens to be Jewish — Tsives wasn’t even being denied access to his classroom, but was only being denied access to the protesters’ encampment which he’d conveniently decided he wanted to walk through in order to get there. Dana Bash makes no mention of this, framing this instead as a terrifying attack on Jews which could soon see them being loaded onto trains headed for extermination camps.

Bash played a clip of New York City Mayor Eric Adams saying “There is a movement to radicalize young people, and I’m not going to wait until it’s done,” as though preventing the spread of radical political opinions is something a mayor is elected to do in the United States.

“They’re calling for a ceasefire,” says Bash. “Well, there was a ceasefire on October 6, the day before Hamas terrorists brutally murdered more than a thousand people inside Israel and took hundreds more as hostages.”

This is a brazen propagandistic lie. Israeli forces had been routinely murdering Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank in the weeks and months preceding the October 7 attack. On October 6 2023, The New Arab published an article titled “2023 is ‘deadliest year’ for Palestinian children say human rights groups,” citing the Defence of Children International — Palestine along with other sources.

“This hour, I’ll speak to an American Israeli family whose son is still held captive by Hamas since that horrifying day, that brought us to this moment,” said Bash, adding, “You don’t hear the pro-Palestinian protesters talking about that. We will.”

Ah yes, such brave, up-punching journalistic integrity for you to talk about the Israeli hostages, Dana. Not like we haven’t been hearing about them every single day from the imperial media for the last seven months while orders of magnitude more Palestinians are butchered by US-supplied war machinery.

“At UCLA, pro-Israel and pro-Palestinian groups were attacking each other, hurling all kinds of objects, a wood pallet, fireworks, parking cones, even a scooter,” Bash says.

Another lie. The footage going around makes it abundantly clear the violence is being consistently instigated by Zionist counter-protesters, with videos of pro-Israel thugs launching fireworks and hurling bottles of chemicals into the encampment, ganging up on a protester on the ground and beating him with sticks, and tearing down parts of the encampment while screaming “Second Nakba!”

Later on in the same segment of Bash’s own show, CNN’s Stephanie Elam contradicts Bash’s both-sides lie by commenting on some of this footage, saying, “And you can see that in the video, it looked like people from this side were breaking down the encampment from the pro-Palestinian side last night, throwing objects in there. As well as it looks like some sort of maybe pepper spray or something coming from the other side over here.”

It should here be noted that Dana Bash gets her surname from her first husband Jeremy Bash, who went on to serve as the chief of staff for both the CIA and the Pentagon. The woman is pure swamp.

It should also be noted that CNN’s own staff recently leaked to The Guardian that they have been pressured to report on the Gaza onslaught with an extreme pro-Israel bias, attributing the pressure to the network’s new CEO Mark Thompson.

I for one think it’s great that the imperial media are becoming so transparently obvious about their propagandistic nature, and I hope they keep exposing mainstream westerners to the fact that the primary purpose of these outlets is to promote the information interests of the US and its allies.

Propaganda only works if you don’t know it’s happening to you, so hopefully they keep going mask-off like this for everyone to see.

…Jacobin went a step further and covered the story as if it was happening in an authoritarian regime

Last night, as Israel carried out another round of violence against Gazans, killing six women and five children in Rafah along with at least eleven other Palestinians while planning a disastrous ground invasion of the city, its chief military patron saw an outpouring of violence of its own.

Over the course of hours, the New York City police, under orders from Mayor Eric Adams — an authoritarian member of the ruling Biden government’s party, who is currently under investigation for corruption and had vowed to bring Israeli tactics to the city’s police force — sent a small army of militarized security forces to disperse a Columbia University protest against the war. Three hundred protesters were arrested after a night that saw brutal violence against antiwar demonstrators at several other universities.

The crackdown — which shocked analysts and observers with its size and ferocity — saw peaceful protesters hit with tear gas, pushed down stairs, and dragged out of buildings to be thrown into the back of police vans and carried off, with police entering the university’s occupied Hamilton Hall with their guns drawn.

The raid was officially sanctioned by the university, despite there being no faculty vote of approval as required under campus bylaws and the university’s rebuke by an oversight panel for facilitating the clampdown. Shortly after, New York police carried out another, similar raid at the City College of New York that saw a further one hundred arrested.

Officials cited the safety of students, particularly those with Jewish backgrounds, as the reason for the crackdown, a claim met with skepticism in light of the brutality visited on students (many of whom were Jewish) by security forces. Events on the West Coast — where pro-war forces entered the site of an antiwar encampment at the University of California, Los Angeles, unencumbered by police or security, and where they soon began physically assaulting students and shooting heavy-duty fireworks at them — only deepened these suspicions.

…Israel has literally bombed every single University in Gaza, yet the moral panic is crushing any protest on Campus that pricks the conscience of Pro-Israel students?

How dare those pro-Israel students be made to confront the obscenity of their Government’s ethnic cleansing war crimes!

This hilariously has been the American response…

…I know right?

They built a wall.

I’d be laughing if I wasn’t crying so much.

There is a vast world of difference between Anti-Semitism and Anti-Zionism.

If you are attacking Jewish students for being Jewish, you have no place in our movement, but if you are protesting the criminal over reaction by Israel to October 7th and their brutal Occupation of Gaza and the West Bank, then step on up.

America is enabling Israel’s war crimes with their Military Budget, the youth of America acting to protest against that hypocrisy, to protest against the brutal Occupation and to protest against Israel’s current ethnic cleansing war crime is evidence that America is redeemable and does have a conscience.

Netanyahu’s entire political career has been to provoke Palestinian violence, respond brutally to that violence and then politically harvest the fear this dynamic creates. He has to keep escalating to prolong the conflict so as to avoid any accountability.

The invasion of Rafah must be the red line the West draws against his regime and the brutal occupation of the Palestinians.

I stand with the young people who have the courage to resist this ethic cleansing war crime.

    • Pay attention to Ukraine. Has Israel joined sanctions against Russia? There’s no luxury for Zionists to fence-sit a European war vs Communists

  1. I am surprised we haven’t got to the point where these arseholes are saying Harvey Weinstein is actually a great guy, and it’s just antisemitic voices that have led to his incarceration for being a piece of shit.

  2. Martyn – Correct…their is a big difference between Anti-semitism and Anti-Zionism…My concern with the current protests is two fold..
    1. The amount of non university staff and students protesting at those universities, not all with good intentions
    2. if gently challenged on their viewpoints, the protesters go into drone mode stating “Free Palestine”, “We are all Hamas”…and nothing else.

    • Neihana, let’s be frank most of your comments on this subject has been pro-apartheid Israel. There are a significant jewish population among the pro-Palestinians protesters against the apartheid state something zionazi supporters seem to neglect to mention.

You are bereft of knowledge when it comes to Palestine/Israeli defaming actual Jewish Israeli scholars & historians which I have read religiously like Illan Pappe, Avi Shlaim, Edward Said, etc.. Like I said Neihana stick to knitting

      Free Palestine

      • Tipene – and let’s be frank about your comments on the matter…you celebrated the 7th Oct massacre, you refuse to acknowledge the role of Hamas in the on – going suffering of the Palestinian within Gaza, and continue to support the madness of the current killings – under the slogan “Free Palestine”

        • Neihana, the 7th Oct is just a continuation of the 1948 Nakba when the Zionazi took land by force of the indigenous palestinian.

Under international law the occupied have the right to resist their occupier and just a little context concerning ‘Hamas’ which didn’t exist until the 80s and became a political force in the 2000s however the daily humiliation & violence existed towards the indigenous population even before 1948.

          Stick to knitting dude

          • Tipene – Here we go again, its’ not the killers fault they killed, its’ the victims’ fault for being in wrong place, at the wrong time…come on Tipene.

    • I’ve said it before many of those protesting don’t know why they are.
The first day they attended they were looking for a protest.
      New Zealand has serial protesters.

  3. This is all a reflection of the world today. It all starts with buying/corrupting the political class, then using the equally corrupted corporate/mainstream media in conjunction with the bought and paid for political class, to push the interests of the money behind these two compromised, one-time pillars of society. Throw in the strong arms of the corrupted state, the police and military, and then top it all off with a narrative all designed to censor/cancel/denigrate those speaking out against all this rottenness, the narrative in this case being antisemitism, and this is the true state of today’s world. Rinse and repeat! The odds are firmly staked against, we, the people today, but understanding the (above) formula being used against us, is step one in our fight back against it all!

  4. The Americans are prepared to deal with protesters who break the law it’s that simple.

    • Then why didn’t they deal with those Zionists who assaulted peaceful protesters in Los Angeles? They stood by and watched people being bashed with clubs.

    • Bob that’s rubbish. Think of the amount of money that’s involved from certain segments of the population.

        • Are you saying the American media corporations don’t have a fair amount of Jewish money influence involved?

Actually Bob, name the country that Anthony Blinken is a citizen of. I’ll give you a hint, the US is one. He’s a dual citizen. The other begins with ‘I’ and it’s not Iran, India, or Italy. Of course he’s completely impartial when dealing with the Middle East.

          • Oh get up to speed Wheel. The new media dosh is coming from the ME Arab countries, CAIR influence is outdoing AIPAC and guess which I country Obama’s top adviser Valerie Jarrett has dual citizenship with.

              • Softly, softly, catchee monkey approach starting with entertainment, sport and publishing while (in the meantime) leaving political influencing to Qatar’s al-Jazeera, illegals breaking through the border, the Dearborn “Death to America” citizens, CAIR and the Imams. The US will be like the UK in a couple of years. Don’t worry about Blinken – he’s a lightweight next to Jarrett and Obama.

                • Oh my god. Is it because Obama is dark ( much like Jesus) and has a middle name that makes you very uncomfortable. He’s not the f’ing Secretary of State, that pretends to be uniformed every time that wanker Netanyahu kills another load of bystanders. Your little description of a plot sounds like what the Jewish get accused of ( hence no one accepting boat loads pre and post WWII). Hitler probably felt he had a good chunk of the US and Europe on his side when he began his despicable plan. I never saw any Palestinians in the photos.

              • You never saw pics of the Mufti of Jerusalem with his buddy Adolf who gifted him honorary Aryan status? Or inspecting the SS Handzar units before their deployment to the Balkans. Is it possible you think there was no connection between their butchery whilst part of the Ustashe and the Srebrenica massacre either? You do need to do some research don’t you.
I am uncomfortable with Obama because he was an embittered out and out race-baiter and war monger.

    • imagine the footage was of russian or chinese riot cops dealing to ‘democracy’ protesters and repeat your statement bob the last

  5. No doubt the seppos will start bombing the universities & hospitals cause the protesters (Terrorists) are hiding inside!

  6. The Zionazi supporters attacking students for exercising their constitutional rights is typical Nazi behavior. Watching the Police being humiliated frog marched out of the UCLA by patriots of humanity the student protest for Palestine was amazing.

  7. Talk about foreign interference in government, Israel has coerced the US government into banning constitutionally protected free speech and protest while ramming through laws which criminalise any critique of Jews breaking the law, such as the Israeli mass murder campaign. We will never know who killed the activist Jesus but we have irrefutable evidence of crimes against humanity and genocide by Jewish Israelis. Maybe the people of America could somehow sue the state for placing their government into disrepute?

    • If there was any remaining doubt, the response to these protests confirms who runs America, and it’s not Americans. What could always be inferred by observing US foreign policy is now confirmed by their domestic policy towards certain kinds of dissent.

    • Eathan Woke, isn’t that a disgrace! Why is no one talking about this? Well in the US it’s because of money and corporate media control. Of course we are not allowed to raise the point that maybe this where some of the anti Jewish sentiment stems from. Does no one stop and think why the Europeans after defeating Hitler and the Nazis say “shows over folks you can all return to your homes”. They couldn’t find a promised land in the Middle East fast enough.

  8. It speaks volumes about who calls the shots in America that protests against the behaviour of Israel, a foreign country, cannot be allowed to occur lest the public mood turns sharply against Israel (if it hasn’t already), thereby pressuring American politicians, and Israel can no longer rely on America’s unconditional support for project to dominate the Middle East unopposed.

Even if anti-semitism and anti-Zionism are identical, they are opinions and beliefs, neither of which are illegal.

  9. I have a friend whose daughters were involved in the protests at Yale. She was concerned, not so much about the girls or their involvement – having met both they are pretty sensible – but that they might be caught in the violence if things turned sour.

  10. As proof of how abnormal Bob the champ is, he can look at the goon squad photo of militarised cops near the top of this thread,,,,, with their long skull cracking clubs ready to be used on peacefully protesting students along with some professors, other staff and the media. As has been pointed out hundreds of times many of the protestors are Jewish,,,,,

Anyway a hypocritical thing like Bob posts “The Americans are prepared to deal with protesters who break the law”… Americans lawfully have a right to free speech,,, and the lawsuits being filed which will result in large payouts because of the UNLAWFUL violence the cops/thugs have done.

Hypocrites like Bob the champ prove by themselves of themselves,,,, that there is always a portion of society who would go full Nazi if given the chance,,, it and he is that simple.

Israel is Genocidal and our politicians are their criminal coalition.

    Hypocrites

    • Read my comments B Awakesky you seem to have answered someone else either that or you’ve used me to air your blatantly biased misplaced views.

  11. The initial Israel response was fair retribution but it has gone on too long and is out of proportion. If they have an all out attack America will be divided and Biden could lose to Trump then the World economy will suffer .Things do not look good and we can only hope sanity will prevail

  12. Like all decent people, I am appalled at the violence used against people who only want to support the Palestinian people & bring attention to the improper support that the USA provides to Israel, while there are the usual fools who insist that anything their side does has to be correct history is littered with examples to show that power is often exercised by those who are not suitable for the responsibility.
As an attempt to bring more light on the bigger picture in the Middle East, I offer the video below to explain what is happening
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6F9A1WBtUuM&t=6s

  13. We now understand how to ‘manage’ live-streaming a Genocide.
1(a) Ensure that it isn’t called one.
1(b) Ensure the Palestinians resisting an occupation army for 75 years, are called TERRORISTS. 1(c) Ensure those fiercely militant european-zionist survivors of the Hitlerian holocaust, ethnically cleansing Palestine post 1945 to gain political advantage – ensure they are framed as ‘heroic defenders of enlightenment and democracy’. 2. That, any sympathy for the Palestinian people is described as ‘sympathy for terrorism’. 3. Slander the students who are in revolution against the obvious Genocide in GAZA, as ‘anti-semitic holocaust deniers’ and ’Nazi’. 4. Describe all judgments by any world Court bold enough to confront the anglozionist war-crimes (UN,ICC,ICJ etc), as an expression of ‘anti-semitic’ ‘racism’, and ‘Hate-crimes against Israel’. 5. Being ‘anti-zionist’ or arguing against Israel in any meaningful way, is anti-semitic. 6. Reduce every proof of Genocide, against October 7th, as ‘ the worst attack against the Jews since the Holocaust’. A conflation beyond reasoned possibility.
However, ‘impossibility’ is the name of the propaganda game. Black is white. Up is down. War is Peace. Genocide is ‘self-defence’ by ’the most moral army in the world’ while live-streaming the murder of 34,000 innocent people. 25,000 of whom are women and children. Destroying all of besieged Gaza. The targeted killing of journalists and medical/aid workers by the hundreds, their bodies now found bound, tortured, shot and buried alongside their mothers and fathers and sons and daughters in the mass-graves of GAZA.
Mostly, you get away with live-steaming Genocide, by silence.

    • Thank god the poor man ( who charges $5000-$10,000 speaking fees for his arab-pro zionist niche) did not get stabbed in the eye,,,, like the poor brave Jewish victim of that hate crime 😉 …. https://youtu.be/zTKJus4bUxw
Hate Crime Hoax: “Stabbed with a Palestinian Flag for Being a Jew”

  14. Okay, let’s turn on the high water pressure, because this thread really, really needs it.

Judaism is a global faith that has existed for at least three thousand years. It is also an ethnicity and culture. Before the Second World War, it consisted of a range of strands, including zionism and Bundism, a Jewish socialist strand that was vitally important in Eastern and Western Europe and North America and probably Australasia as well. Then came the Holocaust. As a consequence of the absence of safety in Eastern Europe (whose unreconstructed nationalists were still conducting pogroms even after the War ended), the West sought to assuage its guilt and responsibility for that genocide by offloading the problem onto the Middle East. Consequently, in 1948, Israel came into existence.

Unfortunately, the emergence of Israel created a nightmare for the Palestinian people who have endured the last three quarters of a century under occupation. During that time, the democratic socialist ideals that Israel was founded on slowly coarsened into its own irredentist, militarist and nationalist brand of conservatism. It wasn’t helped by an influx of hardline ultra-orthodox Jews from Eastern Europe, the former USSR and the United States, who are accountable for most of the illegal settlements on the West Bank and those planned for Gaza. Within the current Cabinet, they are represented by Itamar Ben-Gvir, the indescribably disgusting Minister of National Security and “Emergency Housing” and Bezalel Smotrich, the Minister for Finance. It would not be excessive to describe Kahanism, the political philosophy that guides Ben-Gvir particularly, as neofascist.

However, let’s not overgeneralise here. The Netanyahu regime is in severe trouble with large segments of the Israeli population, particularly those who want an end to the war and the release of Hamas’ Israeli hostages. On the other hand, the IDF has behaved brutally and barbarically and Israel has repeatedly flouted its obligations under the Geneva Convention. Medicins Sans Frontieres has put out a disturbing report on the ordeal of Gazans due to the wanton destruction of healthcare infrastructure.

Let’s not make malicious statements about Jewish ethnicity as being at the core of this, or crackpot theories about Jewish world domination, because that is anti-Semitism and it is beyond the pale. On the other hand, it is not anti-Semitism to demand that Israel stop engaging in repeated human rights and civil liberties violations and murderous aggression against Palestinian civilians. Indeed, some Jewish anti-war activists would argue that Israel’s ultra-zionists are actively promoting anti-Semitism amongst the raving right who are trying to make out that all Jews support this war or are zionists. Neither is true. One of the most encouraging things about the current Palestinian solidarity movement is the number of anti-zionist Jews who have come forward to denounce Israel and its war crimes and make it clear it does not speak for them.

  15. I’m no fan of braying niave students BUT the footage clearly shows pro-isreal thugs attacking a peaceful student camp..though the media is unable to call out the culprits and refers to ‘counter protesters’…the police facilitated these attacks by masked terrorists
if you think I’m being too judgemental imagine the coverage if the attackers had been’antifa’ do you think it would be different….I should coco
