Why latest Climate Change Protest was as large a flop as this years Pride Parade

The Climate Change Protest on Friday was as large a flop as this years 3000 turn out Pride Parade!

Wow.

Just.

Wow.

A pathetic 2000 climate protestors turned up in Auckland, a pathetic 2000 turned up in Wellington, 1000 in Christchurch, 500 in Dunedin with a a dozen other small tiny gesture protests elsewhere.

Pathetic.

How the fuck can Climate Change go from 170 000 on the streets in 2019 to less than 10 000 when climate change is showing what an existential threat it is?

How can the movement be so toxic when the need for change is so apparent?

What on earth could have happened between 2019 and now?

Why has a once popular movement plummeted?

Like The Pride Parade (that has gone from an event that once attracted 30 000 to 3000), the climate protest movement was taken over by radical woke activists who alienated everyone involved and killed it off.

In 2018, woke Trans activists seized control of the Pride Parade Board at a stacked meeting and promptly burnt every bridge the rainbow community had spent decades building. They decided to force the Police to dump their uniforms if the Police wanted to march in the Parade because police uniforms trigger the Trans community.

The Police had fought to win the right to wear their uniforms against the Police Hierarchy and so saw demands by the new woke Pride Board to dump their uniforms as blasphemy and promptly pulled out alongside everyone else who had spent decades building bridges with the rainbow community.

The woke proclaimed this a victory because now only the true believers were left.

30 000 to 3000 is victory according to the woke.

Likewise the climate change protest movement. It peaked in 2019 with 170 000, but collapsed after the exact same woke activism attacked the existing leadership structures.

In 2021, School Strike 4 Climate Auckland cancelled itself because it decided, thanks to woke dogma, critical race theory and critical gender theory, that they were racist and as such , they bewilderingly cancelled themselves.

I know, I know, I know.

You think I’m joking.

I’m not.

They honestly cancelled themselves and announced it…

Ummmm I’m not sure how to tell you this but the Woke just cancelled themselves?? School Strike 4 Climate Auckland Organization disbands because it’s too racist???

I honestly thought this was a parody but apparently it’s true. School Strike 4 Climate Auckland has disbanded because – wait for this – they are a racist organization???

The identity politics cult would eat their own young if they weren’t all vegan.

To disband a youth climate change organization because PoC suffer most from climate change ignores the fact that the planet will burn regardless of your fucking skin colour!!!

To whip themselves into such submission for an intersectionist cacophony of grievances competing for social hierarchy based upon woke dogma that all white people are intrinsically racist as a response to a burning planet is so intellectually bankrupt it’s terrifying.

Pure temple doctrine divides & alienates. Broadchurch universals build solidarity. This is self defeating identity politics madness.

Read it yourself, it’s just so unbelievable…

School Strike 4 Climate Auckland is disbanding as an organisation.
This is under the suggestion and guidance of the BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Colour) members of our group, as well as individual BIPOC activists and organisations. We are not holding any more climate strikes in the Auckland region. Our members have also separated from the national SS4C team. Going forward, we will only be using our social media to uplift BIPOC-led climate justice spaces in Auckland.
BIPOC communities are disproportionately affected by climate change, so the fight for climate justice should be led by their voices and needs, not Pākehā ones.
We are disbanding because, since 2019, SS4C AKL (as well as the wider national group, though we can’t speak on their behalf) has been a racist, white-dominated space. SS4C AKL has avoided, ignored, and tokenised BIPOC voices and demands, especially those of Pasifika and Māori individuals in the climate activism space. As well as this, the responsibility and urgent need to decolonise the organisation has been put off for far too long. SS4C also delayed paying financial reparations for the work BIPOC groups/individuals within and alongside the group have done for this organisation in the past.
This is a non-exhaustive list.
We apologise for the hurt, burnout, and trauma caused to many BIPOC individuals, including current and past members, as well as BIPOC-led groups. We also apologise for the further trauma caused by our slow action to take responsibility. We recognise that this apology can never be enough to make up for our actions on top of years of systemic and systematic oppression, racism, and the silencing of those who are the most affected by climate change. This apology is just one of our steps in taking accountability for our actions.
Our disbandment is well overdue.
We acknowledge that our attitude has been racist and dismissive of the voices that have rightly spoken out against us and we apologise deeply for the pain we have caused. In saying this, we also need to acknowledge that racism is a big problem within the SS4C NZ team as well, but that we have made this decision independently from them.
We recommend you all redirect your support, resources and involvement to BIPOC activists, spaces and causes, especially those that are led by Pasifika and Māori people. This includes groups such as 4TK ( 4TK), Pacific Climate Warriors ( Pacific Climate Warriors – Auckland ), Para Kore Ki Tāmaki ( PARA KORE KI TĀMAKI), Protect Mataharehare ( Protect Mataharehare ), Protect Pūtiki ( Protect Pūtiki), Save Canal Road Native Trees ( Save Canal Road Native Trees ), Te Ara Whātu ( Te Ara Whatu).

If you are a BIPOC-led climate/social justice organisation or a BIPOC climate/social justice activist, please let us know if/how we can help by messaging our Instagram, Facebook, or emailing aklschoolstrike4climate@gmail.com. We will uplift your kaupapa and Mahi through this platform, or any other means available to us.
The climate justice space must be led by BIPOC groups and others who are disproportionately affected by climate change. In Aotearoa, this especially means Māori and Pasifika groups.
We fully discourage any future and current Pākehā-led groups from occupying the space we leave behind.

School Strike 4 Climate Auckland

…I love that at the end they threaten any group from stepping into this space. They enjoy all the nuance of a Maoist purge.

Twitter outrage is woke righteousness porn for the middle classes. A puritanical razoring where the self elected morality police publicly shame and cancel anyone for not using the language protocols of the conclave. That they are now detonating themselves for the cause seems a tad driven and wide eyed.

I haven’t seen wilful self mutilation like this since the 2020 National Party election campaign.

The climate crisis is the largest existential threat we face as a species – to divide and amputate protest against that for some middle class identity politics struggle session is so incredibly misguided.

The polluters who cause climate change must be laughing.

The woke and their pure temple politics have killed off Broadchurch solidarity.

There should have been 1 million people on the streets on Friday. Barely 10 000 showed up from a height of 170 000.

Put aside how ludicrous it is to demand solutions about climate change  from children that we as adults refuse point blank to consider, just look at how the middle class identity uber alles activist movement have seized control of movements and then immediately crashed the popular support those movements enjoyed.

The woke offer alienation and schisms in an ever spinning roulette of intersectionist identity  niches that become ever more tiresome in their cancel culture micro aggression policing.

We get it, your self constructed identity is more important than our shared humanity, and anyone who disagrees with you is committing a cultural genocide.

If the woke have finished cancelling all effective Left wing activism in favour of pure temple elites that can’t achieve anything, can we please get back to some universal Left solutions that lift all rather than vanity protests for hashtag aesthetic activism?

  1. I am a boomer but was happy to support the climate march in 2019 and even wrote a letter to the Press of congratulations to the organizers. This year not so much as they included vote age dropping to 16 and other side issues .On TV they came across as rude and not prepared to listen .
It is amazing that they seem to follow the demise of the Greens at a period in time when they should be riding a wave of popularity.

  2. I give you two words “Izzy Cook”

I think some of the youth may have started looking at themselves in the mirror and perhaps understood the hypocrisy and their protests when they’ve enjoyed such a privileged life, never have walked to school, lived a life of air conditioned comfort, consumed the latest gadgets or spent holidays in the tropics.

Don’t worry the next generation will find the next big thing to protest against.

I’m gen X and was having an amusing discussion with a millennial, she was terrified that the earth was going to go up 1 degree in 100 years. I told her, at that her age I was terrified it was going to go up 6000 degrees in 3 nanosecond.

And by the way. It didn’t happen….

  3. Unfortunately nobody wants to march, with the woke in charge.

    Everywhere they go, numbers plummet.

Truancy seems to be on the rise, the woke in charge of the syllabus of Mataranga Maori, even Elon Musk describes what they are preaching as ‘insane’.

Elon Musk, Richard Dawkins’ criticism of mātauranga Māori in schools faces backlash from Kiwi researcher
    https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/elon-musk-richard-dawkins-criticism-of-matauranga-maori-in-schools-faces-backlash-from-kiwi-researcher/QQWSKLTDF5DCTETX5F3P3RBC5Y/

When other scientists disagree (who are Maori) they are publicly and incorrectly pounded by the tiny amount of elite woke who seek to keep their status as woke Nazi’s – and publicly found to be in breach of media standards of accuracy and corrections.

The Media Council has unanimously found a column by Siouxsie Wiles in Stuff was a breach of two principles – accuracy and corrections
    https://www.kiwiblog.co.nz/2022/03/media_council_finds_wiles_column_breach_of_press_standards.html

Nobody wants to march or be involved with the woke who seem to have copious amounts of time on their hands to wreck previously huge amount of public support for protests.

Woke have also eroded Labeens Majority – fe want to be involved with such toxic people.

    • And the woke are bullies. Even on this site they try to Queeny it, to fling accusations of being right-wing or Nat supporters, in response to any sort of criticism. In person, more arrogant than thoughtful, too rude.

    • Tinetti is on the rampage against truants, after her government has disrupted schooling with their COVID mandates, wiped out school routes with their industry practices and do little about the living crisis with their social policies.

    • I don’t understand why Dr Mcallister keeps falling into the obvious trap of claiming that mātauranga Māori is science. Why does it have to be? Who, specifically, wants it to be? Is there a general consensus that it’s a good thing to slap the “science” label on mātauranga Māori? Or is it just her and half a dozen highly invested friends? Every time she does it, she’s effectively claiming that bodies of knowledge and ways of thinking only have value if they are “science”.

  4. It was held after school not in school time this year.

I don’t know about other localities, but most of the actual work here has been undertaken by much older adults across the years. There are some passionate young people but it seems that there have been factors that have inflated just how many.

There has been a profound apathy among younger people for a long time. When I was involved in activism what to do about the problem was always a major question.

And nowadays whenever I read about some ”identity’ issue touted as causing some political blockage or stoush, the first thing I think is ”what’s really going on”? It is the go-to excuse, diversion, cover-story or manipulation and it has been for a very long time now.

  5. Same thing happened with the bm marches

anyhow guys, being the budding artist that I am I have been working hard on some new culturally in touch material and I am hoping to get a grant from Creative NZ

I thought I would run my new artistic venture past you now as taster of my up coming book of poems called “Lazy maoris, coconuts and coons”

    Dirty nigger
    Filthy jew
I’m in my zero emission electric car
    And I’m coming for you

    I’m a Krazy Krytsal Karen
    And I’m on the loose
when I catch you degenerate cunts
    I’ll cook your goose

Gee fellas what do you think? Art is so powerful and emotive and my poem is up there with the old masters I reckon and even that mixed race islander lady.poet says she likes my stuff

  6. Climate is a white, middle class pose. Like all middle class activity, it’s about being on-trend.

Everyone else is too busy trying to put food on the table.

    Especially eggs.

  7. Wow, that woke organization suicide note is just astounding. I’m surprised they didn’t set themselves on fire (too much carbon emissions) or commit seppuku (cruelty to dumb animals) to round it off.

  8. Wokeism is a disease of the mind and a signficant cause of apathy and an inhibitor of free speech IMHO, why engage if your opinion has to pass through the woke filter to be judged. Best not to go there, life is too short and all of that…

This Matauranga thing is a classic case in point. Cultural knowledge has its place, but as per usual Dawkins lacerates the woke with his intelligence. If it’s important and scientifically relevant it needs to be understood everywhere in the world, the fact that it isn’t tells you all you need to know. The woke retaliates with bizzare commentary, my favourite being “science needs to be decolonised” – ridiculous! I can only imagine what the philosophy department at Auckland University thinks about this behind closed doors, and therein lies the disease in all its gory, cowering those that are most mentally equipped to chop it off at the knees.

  9. Good that you’ve covered this @ MB. It needed to be. I was THERE so my observations are first hand. Sure the turnout (in Auckland) was low. Quite a few school kids but could have been more given the focus was School Strike for Climate. I’m not really sure why the turnout was poor. Perhaps @ MB you have a point. But surely the bigger picture is the take home messages: 1. hold polluters to account –FFS Fonterra for example still burns coal to generate electricity. Sure, we in lil ‘ol NZ have no impact on Australian coal exports or on how Germany generates energy but we a civic duty to hold local players to account. 2. Ditto, keeping carbon in the ground. Sequestration not exploitation. 3. Question the ecological validity of intensive dairying. FFS, people have been telling us this for aeons. 4. Grass roots action has the potential to bring governments to heal – although that might be more wishful thinking than reality. Perhaps a continued presence of dissent is as good as it gets. 5. The future matters.

IMHO most people don’t give a flying f*ck. No, that’s a bit unfair, they are so far co-opted into the system that they can’t see beyond their next paycheck, their next utility bill or rent payment, their next mortgage payment, their next overseas trip holiday, their next …. well, whatever. It’s never anyone’s fault in particular because we all know it, the world is pretty random at best and shit happens. And for most the future never comes, except for the poor folk in the Esk Valley and Tairawhiti, and on the west coast of Auckland or sprinkled over the Coromandel. Even in the low lying areas of Sunnynook and parts of Henderson where council planning failed them. For them the future is here. With the coming shift from La Niña to El Niño whose next? But don’t expect the tropical cyclones to disappear. They’ll be back…”These extreme weather events we’ve seen over the past several months and weeks, these are consistent with our expectations of climate change.” https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/national/485129/saying-goodbye-to-la-nina-what-to-expect-from-autumn-s-weather

That’s the message from NIWA, that climate change is here. In NZ. Elsewhere in different ways. Always been the case? Exacerbated by global warming? If so, caused primarily by the burning of fossil fuels but also massive deforestation? Systematic of the current global economic system? BIG questions, for everyone. And BIG decisions to be made, at all levels.

IMO School Strike for Climate needs to push for educational change also. Let’s start with compulsory civics education in schools, a bit like literacy should be, across the curriculum. Starting early. What does it mean to live in a democracy in the post-truth age? And add to this a basic understanding of ecology, how all things are interconnected. That’s my wishlist.

  10. For a protest to succeed it needs males willing to fight. The people in charge now don’t want to fight rather opting to monitor things from twitter.

So we do the honesty system now. We don’t need cops, we just check ourselves into prison and snitch on ourselves. For the love of god, begging with the it known as Weka should shut the fuck up.

    • Agreed. Nobody trusts the climate strikes for schools, after they cancelled themselves for being too racist and told other kids they were too racist to continue to protest.

  11. “How the fuck can Climate Change go from 170 000 on the streets in 2019 to less than 10 000 when climate change is showing what an existential threat it is?”
Is it because we’re all exhausted? We’re tired. We’ve become depleted of our vital energy. We have no fun and every day is a scare coupled with doom pronouncements. I had an Aunt like that. Everything was doom, gloom and disaster. During the best of times she’d wail and moan and complain about things both real and imaginary and during times of hardship she’d sit by the fire smiling quietly to herself while mumbling things like ” See? Told ya.” You know what I miss? Cartoons in the news paper. I miss the news paper generally but the cartoons seemed to defuse and diminish dismal fucking reality-wank. You know what? Fuck the climate if it can’t take a joke. If you’re a penguin? Buy a pair of Speedo’s and a surf board for Christs sake and stop your whinging. If you’re some kind of special widdle dribbly nosed plant that’ll die if it gets its feet wet? Die then! But stop being a whiny little martyr.
If we really want to make a difference to the way we humans do the dumb shit we do then put the brakes on consumption. Look at us? We’re all fat. We all drive our cars alone. We buy pap one day then chuck it the next and that pap is mostly plastic. Great. Go for it dumbasses, but stop moping and whining and instead enjoy!
( I can tell you one thing for sure. You scum bags who fucked with agriculture by using banksters and the rbnz to force farmers to go agri chemical just to sate your greed? Malnourished will be your new look. But hey! Bright side! You’ll finally get your fat urban arse into that Karen Walker, and a fresh-dead human’s just as edible as a cow or a sheep. Salt, pepper, garlic, red wine baste. See? Not all bad after all.)

  12. It’s all irrelevant. CC is happening and worsening nothing, nothing we do or don’t do now can arrest its progress. It’s not a human agency that’s persuadable by us.Protest all you like in the tens or millions.

  13. I could not agree more. The Left is better at everything: economics, environmental management, hell, we’re even better at fighting wars. We should be wiping the floor (electorally speaking) with the right, but we’re not. Why? Identity politics.

I don’t know who had the idea that the best way to build a broad coalition is to focus intensely on the things that divide us. But I wish they would shut the fuck up.
