  1. The attitude towards rape in the judiciary in this country is absolutely disgusting.

We should have compassion towards those who have committed crimes and paid the price (which should generally be higher).

But to let a guy who groped a bird and likely intended to rape her off without conviction because it could impact his future employment prospects? Absolutely f**ked in the face. Someone who would opportunistically attack a woman because he wasn’t aware of the degree of 24/7 surveillance in downtown Wellington will just as easily rape a woman he works with if they’re left alone at night. That possibility decreases with age, but if anyone deserves a conviction, it’s this prick.

  2. Think the cost of power bills are high now? Seems they are going to become a lot higher going forward.

Apparently, $42 billion needs to be invested in electricity network upgrades and new generation within the current decade.

That investment is required (in part) to meet the extra needs created by the greater electrification of industry, transport and the phase-out of fossil-fuelled generation.

Where is the plan to address the widespread hardship this will create?

  3. We do not need the three strikes LAW in NZ. Our judges already have the power to administer longer sentences for extremely violent and heinous crimes. We also have the Parole system where, if need be, they can be kept in prison for longer. What we need to sort is the unfairness, access to fair and good legal representation, the inconsistencies in sentencing, the Police use of plea bargaining, the Polices so called unconscious bias and the tardy work done by some of our Police and Crown legal representation is sub-par to say the least.

  4. I’ve worked out our political system. The PTB keep things going, pushing the plums to the most promising contenders. The problems present and chronic get a lick of paint and a pain-killer, and some taxi chits, and everyone is jollied along or herded forward until there is a disaster, big accident, lots of small accidents which coalesce into a notable trend which can be worried over. Then that gets looked at with meetings, conferences, time for academics to publish which will help their CVs and salaries, and we go on in the same sort of way from the beginning. And projects get started – one at least in every area, and some ones get closed to balance the initiatives. Action look, vote for us.

Covid fits in perfectly into this scenario
