  1. We need to be careful rushing foreign Nurses and Doctors here based on recent news with Nurses knowingly coming here when they have family members with serious health conditions (and we cant even help NZers) and another male Nurse who stole credit cards add to his a Doctor with false credentials as this has happened before and who suffers?

  2. Our Covid cases number seem to be going up and down so do we actually know how many of the confirmed cases are made up of people who have already been infected perhaps this could explain the current situation. Now if re-infected cases are making up the numbers we need better health messaging to stop this from occurring.

  3. I think we need better health controls to keep from being infected, such as mask wearing everywhere in public, and discretionary when at family meetings. I am thinking along the lines of making a complaint of discrimination by those who won’t wear masks. They are willing to infect me, and perhaps killme for lack of good attitude to others and it’s not right. That’s my basic case if I go forward. Why should people be so careless and uncaring to others – it’s not just an age thing, or an ethnic or racist thing, it is an individual not taking personal responsibility human person thing.

This man will be trouble for the rest of his life. He doesn’t seem to be vicious but he is a thief and a drug taker and a hypocrite and liar. He is the perfect man to live in controlled circumstances on a prison farm as a worker, with privileges but, like a boarding school, expected to be on site with occasional holidays. A man like this might be given the right to have a small cottage, a partner and a family if he stays on site.

Eventually, after some two decades of innovative personal respect and goal building and unavoidable coaching, our crime level would sink low. But it does require people in charge at all levels who respect the human condition, and know that for most there is a good core, but some of those need temptation limited. At present large parts of NZ are at almost concentration camp standards.

  5. This should be noted because it is an example of how you can only do your best for people, hoping that all will behave as responsible citizens, but some just cannot bear to discipline and control themselves. Sometimes rules and advisory warnings not paid heed to need to be enforced with firm control and arrest, not just fines and a slap on the hand or home detention. Wild west behaviour is not appropriate here and now.

“We’re wondering if they should put some sort of gate because people, they ignore the signs and sometimes just for fun, they just run the signs over, and the council has tried all sorts [of things]. They’ve put huge boulders on places that they don’t want 4WDs to go, and they just drag them away.”

  6. Home detention. What treatment is assured for this unbalanced person? This is a serious assault on a person’s life – an attempt to force behaviour, blackmail etc. There doesn’t seem to be money involved. I have a feeling that property and money has too high a profile when deciding law breaking – peace of mind, freedom not to be harassed – not so much importance.
https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/national/472701/space-scientist-given-home-detention-for-campaign-to-humiliate-womanThis is a horrible case where there is a standover tactic and humiliation for the woman and her life highly impacted negatively. What will the woke women do about this abomination?

Yet there should be a list of freedoms that a person should be able to enjoy, and when many of these are breached as in this case, then it is a mental hospital case if not prison. This reminds me of the fixation that drove the Dunedin economics tutor to stab his young female student friend multiple times in her own home where she should expect to be safe.

  7. Electricity paying it forward. How does that go?

I know a big pothole near a supermarket by the river in Nelson, and it seems to be getting bigger with bigger jolts. We can’t have roads fit for most of us and cycleways as well fit for the few.

And most of us find a car much safer and a better work horse than towing your goodies behind yo uphill in the pouring rain especially if having a cold, wet house to return to. Bikers are generally middle class and don’t have to dodge and dive to manage their lives and children as low income people do. Finding the money to have or share a car tends to give good return in reliability and support for a family, especially if single parent one.
