MEDIAWATCH: TVNZ Breakfast Political Panel

Now John Campbell has left, I like to be the first to put the boot into TVNZ Breakfast, but the political panel on TVNZ Breakfast with Matthew Hooton and Shane Te Pou is the smartest political debate on any TV network in NZ.

It’s the weirdest joy to discover something this genuinely insightful and clever on TV any longer.

Thank you so much to which ever producer managed to get this past the TVNZ gatekeepers because it really is light years ahead of any other political commentary on TV.

To have just 10 minutes of intelligent debate is enough to justify your Fourth Estate cred.

Hooton and Te Pou did more to calm the baying mob down over Uffindell and provide actual insight and oversight on the issue than the entire breathless media press gallery reporting combined.

It is must watch weekly political commentary.

Increasingly having independent opinion in a mainstream media environment which mostly echo one another has become more important than ever, so if you value having an independent voice – please donate here.

  1. Yes I always watch Hooten and Te Pou they are both good in this area and they were exceptional this morning. Shane Te Pou always tells it how it is plus he is also a very good advocate for Maori.

  2. Askhully Wheel both commentators were positive about undenfill they don’t blame him they blamed the process and the selection panels poor handling of the issue.

  3. Thanks for the nod. So it’s a Thursday morning. Hooten has principles — which don’t work as playing cards in America or, halfways, Oz. A chap could learn from that. If you put reality before … other things like our survival in this fricken climate crisis.

I half expect a response, unlike the Left corner dairies.
