Reporting on the East Asia Summit, RT the Russian official media outlet of the Russian Federation, quoted Sergei Lavrov on the world situation.
S.L.“Our American colleagues demonstrate permissiveness” for themselves in international affairs “every time they try to assert their dominance”
S.L.“The Americans have taken up a course of suppressing any independence,”
S.L.“understand the futility of a policy according to which you can just turn a blind eye to one situation, one crisis created by the US, and expect that everything will be more or less OK there,”
S.L.“They decided to turn Ukraine into a menace for Russia and for many years ignored the racist policies of the Kiev regime, which has been destroying everything Russian… they violated the principles of indivisible security, which they signed up for at the highest level and which they simply trampled upon,”
S.L.“Similarly, in the case of [US House speaker] Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan, they [the Americans] ignored their own principles, which they proclaimed publicly,”
Antony Blinken response to Lavrov and Yi’s comments was also quoted.
A.B. “cease these actions.”
Putin did not invade Ukraine out of concern for the persecution of Ukraine’s Russian speaking minority.
World War One was not fought because an Arch Duke was assassinated in Kosovo.
World War Three will not be fought because an old lady visited Taiwan.
The underlying cause of global conflict and world war is the same as the underlying cause of pollution and climate change. Infinite economic growth on a finite planet, is running up against the natural and man made borders of the planet.
Nazi propagandists accused Poland of persecuting ethnic Germans living in Poland. They also falsely claimed that Poland was planning, with its allies Great Britain and France, to encircle and dismember Germany…
The Russian leader said his forces invaded Ukraine because a genocide was underway against Russian-speakers. People in Ukraine say that claim is a hoax…
Pat O’Dea is a trade unionist and human rights activist.
Click bait title on a confused argument.
Spot on Richard…Ukraine Government is nasty!
Domain expansion overrules economics, trade, human rights, free speech, freedoms of expression or what ever and neutralizes all arguments.
That’s why war is bad for business in a global economy like the rules based order operated within western democratic nations. Proxy Wars aren’t just a simple conflict though technically they are civil wars, secessionist movements which is even worse for business than a conventional conflict.
Supply chains and trade routs are going to be harassed or blockaded. I completely forgot who said it but it goes something like “why shoot missiles at another nation when you can just sell them” which is a source of your average arms dealer and unfortunately it is a very prevalent mindset amongst corporations including New Zealand’s own AirNZ.
It’s an interesting phenomena the appearance of what I’d like to call the neutral corporation.
Companies that have representation within central government at the same time publicly involved efforts to reduce human rights and basically create Chad freindly fire zones. There’s a clear conflict of interest here one that seems to escape the notice of, just about everyone.
Pat — Ukraine does not allow opposition parties, or allow media outlets to report on day to day stuff, the media that did were banned…Ukraine STILL allow the Azov Battalion, the Nazi nut jobs, to gain high tech weapon systems…start being honest about Ukraine if you are really a Human Rights Activist, otherwise you are repeating CIA talking points!
“…you are repeating CIA talking points!” Nathan
Really?
You’ve got to be kidding.
Leftists, who oppose Putin’s war on Ukraine, are well aware of the shortcomings of the Ukraine state.
We are not dupes of the CIA that you try to smear us.
My name is Ilya. I’m an anarchist living in Ukraine. I left Russia a few years back because of the crackdown on the entire anarchist movement…..
…..Our platoon also has anti-fascist movement members who aren’t anarchists, so I’m going to speak for myself: Putin’s invasion is not a war between two states. It’s a war between Putin’s regime and Ukrainian society. In my opinion, the Ukrainian state is corrupt, oligarchic, and neoliberal. I’m not too fond of it. However, Ukrainian society has a lot more freedom and pluralism than its Russian and Belarusian counterparts; than almost all of its neighbors. Turkey is no better than Putin’s Russia, while Poland and Hungary have swayed considerably towards conservatism lately. The Ukrainian state exerts considerably less control over its citizens’ private lives. Since Russia decided to export its authoritarian Mordor-style regime, Ukrainian society needs protection.

…..Ukrainian feminists, Ukrainian left feminists and all the people concerned have the right to resist to the imperial aggression of Russian Federation.

Very true that the ideology of infinite growth is the problem. This is why the American snake must have its head cut off.
