  1. I suggest most people interested in fair democracy follow this:
    ihttps://www.rnz.co.nz/news/national/471615/former-exclusive-brethren-members-detail-the-church-s-money-go-round
A cult-like church that exerts almost complete control over its members has metastasised into a multinational corporation with massive buying power…
Senior executives from a range of leading brands, including Air New Zealand, Office Max and Freightways, make cameo appearances thanking the flock for their business and offering details on new deals.
Brethren and their companies are encouraged to buy their supplies, groceries, petrol, internet, insurance – the whole range of goods and services – from companies that give cash back to the church through a range of kickback arrangements.
A broker with the insurance company, Crombie Lockwood, said he was instructed to use a special code with Brethren clients, discounting his commission by 20 percent, which went to the listed “sub-agency”, UBT (Universal Business Team) a church-controlled company.

Remember that they were National’s little elves at an earlier election. Remember the poisonous truth of ‘Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Some interesting links about religion and business- an unholy combination.
Some may remember the rise of the ministry of North Korean Moon. I remember it put its headquarters in a small town and virtually took it over – it didn’t have to pay wages to its workers and they did everything for the local area whose businesses disappeared.

It’s interesting that this religious group is concerned to support anti-communism which is considered a threat to business.

  2. https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/business/471603/former-reserve-bank-governor-criticises-central-banks-performance-during-pandemic
    2:38 pm today Jul.26/22
The Reserve Bank (RBNZ) and other central banks of developed economies have been lambasted in a report by the free market think tank, the New Zealand Initiative.
Former RBNZ Governor Graeme Wheeler has co-authored the report which roundly criticises central banks around the world for serious mistakes in monetary policy during the pandemic which allowed inflation to get out of the control and hit multi-decade highs.
The paper concludes that central banks were too confident about their monetary policy frameworks, their economic models, and lost their focus on keeping inflation in check.

The bolded words above indicate why Labour can’t do anything for the people. We’re just a blood bank to be drawn on in measured amounts so that the body-financial can be kept in good health; inflation being like high blood pressure!! It is amazing that the time spent in the practice of financial management and economics doesn’t lead to near-perfection and stability, no!

Out of university, Graeme Wheeler into Treasury at 22 and on and upwards etc. And he and other money handlers have the front to front up criticising that their playing field hasn’t been well kept! Why didn’t he stick to cricket he seemed good at that. It’s an honest game, played out in the open, has a few tricks involving rubbing balls but in the main can be seen and understood for what it is, an elaborate physical pasttime. Financial play however is a vitally different game. I enjoyed reading fiction ‘Banker’ by Dick Francis. That exposed the financier to risk not usually encountered I think, the public usually wearing that.

    Professional career – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graeme_Wheeler (born 30 October 1951)
Educated at the University of Auckland, Wheeler began working at the New Zealand Treasury in 1973 as an adviser. From 1984 to 1990 he was economic and financial councillor for the New Zealand delegation to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, eventually becoming director of macroeconomic policy at the New Zealand Treasury in 1990. In 1997, he went to work for the World Bank Group, firstly as director of the Financial Products and Services Department. From 2006 to 2010 he was managing director of operations at the World Bank overseeing 12,000 staff and a US$1.7 billion budget. In 2010,
Wheeler left the World Bank to start his own firm, advising investors and Russian policy makers about Russian privatisation.[1] Wheeler currently serves as a company director in Europe and China.[2]
    Reserve Bank Governor
Wheeler succeeded Alan Bollard as Governor of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand on 26 September 2012.[3] Wheeler was replaced by Deputy Governor Grant Spencer on 27 September 2017.

  3. This is an example of Maori having difficulty getting control over pieces of their land even when it seems to be in trust for the iwi or hapu concerned. Laws can be misused to take a piece that gets waved under their noses and then taken away before they can grasp and hold it permanently.

Land too precious to lose –
More than 40 years after the Hīkoi and the occupation of Bastion Point and two years after Ihumātao, Miramar Peninsula represents our continued, wilful ignorance of history.
    by Mary Varnham
Take the number 24 bus to Miramar and you’ll encounter a strange sight – a dilapidated prison with tall cack-yellow walls sprouting rings of razor wire. It stands on an empty hilltop with some of the best harbour views in Wellington.

  4. lk about 8 million world wide – concentrate on our total 5 million. Are there 5000, how many are old people. Just try giving young people decent conditions, and keep them away from smoking. But cut out the zero thing. Can you imagine a world where some prating agency haven’t got a budget to tell us we should be perfect. Now that would be an advance. Care about us don’t fine us, and don’t sneer or lecture us when we don’t meet the dominatrix’s orders.

    • Don’t know what happened here – sorry. It’s a hunt for the silver idea. Could it be golden, don’t know?

  5. UK and Johnson – and antisemitism

July22 from Nelson Mail – Team Sumak fear Johnson sabotage
Johnson urged his successor to “cut taxes and deregulate” and warned them against “always” listening to the Treasury. Also “Number one; stay close to the Americans.”

    Australian comment – https://www.theaustralian.com.au/subscribe/news/1/?sourceCode=TAWEB_WRE170_a_GGL&dest=https%3A%2F%2F
Two children of Thatcher vie to succeed Johnson
Rishi Sunak and Liz Truss seek to harness the ghost of Margaret Thatcher as they battle to follow her into Downing Street as the next British prime minister.
