MEDIAWATCH: Q&A: David Seymour smashes Chris Luxon

Excellent episode focusing on the Pacific with all the geopolitical tensions now in play.

Barbara Dreaver, who is such a Journalistic Titan in this country, is on. She’s so important to explaining the Pacific to a mass audience and with it coming into play more and more, TVNZ needs to fund everything she wants to do.

How good is William Sio is on and you just forget what an amazing leader he is. He shows how a dignified humble good faith response to the Pacific is our greatest diplomatic tool, get Sio on every week! That’s the kind of politician we need to see more of and hear more form!

After getting the snot beaten out of him by Rebecca Wright yesterday, David Seymour explodes back into action with an eye watering attack on Christopher Luxon in what is his best pitch to the Right he’s ever made in his entire political life.

David Seymour senses how weak Chris Luxon is and is attacking National from the Right by stealing my 100 day strategy.

The Yellow Quick Fox steals from the Lazy Red Hog!

Luxon is a prosperity evangelical Christian who believes him owning 7 properties is proof Jesus loves him.

Luxon is selling self certainty to a frightened electorate. He’s the clam voice of the Pilot just before the plane suddenly explodes.

He can do the 45 second CEO soundbite, but push him on any actual detail and he falls over.

In fact Luxon’s wanting to deregulate NZ’s welfare state!

Seymour is the Yellow Quick Fox who will leap over the lazy blue log.

Seymour intends to amputate 5 Ministry’s, plus the Human Rights Commission while cutting $7billion per year from welfare!

People do not understand just how radical an agenda a National-ACT Government are going to be.

I have been pointing this out for sometime, the Left must find policy that makes a material difference to Kiwis lives at a time of immense economic anxiety or the Government an angry electorate will elect will cause a radical lurch to the hard right in a way we haven’t seen under MMP.

To paraphrase the Wu-tang clan, ‘Act Party Clan ain’t nuthin’ to fuck wit’.

Great show Jack!

  1. Problem with Seymout is he is perceived by many of his potential voters as being too flakey especially when it came to vaccine mandates

    • Exactly. He’s a supposed “libertarian”, but never unequivocally spoke out against the vaccine mandates which fly in the face of bodily autonomy or “right to choose” and even NZ’s own Bill of Rights Act!

    • That’s because he is flakey…
And to your point… He did an interview on either Q&A or The Nation where they extrapolated the figures out to see how many deaths would have occurred had he been in power and implemented the policies that he was espousing and put it to him that the number of deaths at that time would have been well over 10,000 and closer to 20,000.

He was all over the shop with an incoherent burbling response stating that he couldn’t be held to that and anyway he didn’t agree with the figures,(despite them being consistent with world wide infection /death rates).

      That’s his easy out… ‘I don’t agree’….despite what the facts say..

It’s easy to mouth off calling the Government incompetent, (and he certainly does a lot of that), but if he had to actually perform and be responsible for his decisions which more often than not have significant ramifications, then it would soon become evident that he is just a boy who shouts wolf a lot!!
He’s hopeless and God help us if he gets in to some sort of power

    • I wouldn’t worry too much, I hear they’re working on upgrading his software 🙂

I’ll probably vote ACT, I voted TOP the last two elections.. I like to change things up.. honestly, I’m probably the definition of a swing voter.

It’s probably true that voting tastes change with age, but I’m pretty young! I think I’ve just stayed in one spot and ‘The Left’ have just run further left and are currently jumping off Mt Woke.

My thesis is that a strong Act Party might restore some balance in The Force and National might constrain Act’s tendencies towards The Dark Side.

I don’t proport to know the mind of the chief editor of the blog I’m commenting on, yet I feel Martyn and many others have held to their strongly held beliefs, which they have respectfully presented while taking critiques from ‘the center’ and ‘the right’

They have largely stayed in one spot too, perhaps even moving slightly more towards ‘the center’ and giving more of a hearing to ‘the right’. They too stayed put while ‘the left’ have gone skydiving off Mt Woke.

      • Good work on voting TOP Zack. Well thought out policies that by and large have been proven to work in many of the truly progressive countries around the world. Unfortunately the myopic voting constituents of New Zealand won’t have a bar of it. Sad, but at least they have some credence unlike ACT’s neo liberal, libertarian bullshit policies that would have us go down the American road with all the inherent economic inequalities and social dysfunction attatched to it. Not that we are far from that anyway. I guess we’re fucked which ever way you look at it.

      • Zack, Lets hope you don’t need welfare if NACT are elected. You will be responsible for yourself there. Make sure you have plenty of dollars saved up for a rainy year or two. You will probably pay $100 to see a doctor and all hospitals will be private, so you’ll need to pay for them if you need treatment. Make sure you’ve bought a house and have saved enough money to pay the rates for 20 years. You won’t be able to buy houses under NACT unless you’re a millionaire. If you choose to rent, you will need a massive income to pay the rent each week. You will more than likely end up living on the streets, in your car or in a caravan. Be ready for that. Petrol will be so expensive it will be a waste of time owning a car. Make sure you’re fit enough to walk every where. Food will be so expensive you won’t be able to eat every day. Be ready for NACT’s dog eat dog society. Everyone will be bitching and moaning at each other. No respite though, mental health will be too expensive for “bottom feeders.” That’s the lovely world you want to create with your valuable vote. Cheers.

        • Given Seymour is single and he has no intent on sharing, (having a partner) he is set up on his salary for private health insurance and a permanent parliamentary pension. Seymour is living in an eco chamber of one. He has no intention of supporting those who are marginalised. If he was then why did try and stop state housing being built in Epsom? It was available land after all.

  2. We need to find out how Luxon treats all his many tenants. Lets find out what he really thinks of renters, if he actually can be arsed thinking about them at all. They are obviously sinners or God would have given them a house.

  3. The show was good for reasons outlined but the interview , (if you can call it that), with Seymour was pathetic other than highlighting the dearth of talent that the right have . Seymour is a clueless arrogant dweeb kept their by the Epsom silver spooners …
If Seymour is smarter than Luxon ,and as we know Luxon is hopeless, then N.Z should be deeply concerned !!

    • Grant you comments have no substance. You just come across as anti

Give a good critique and I will give what you say some thought. “Flakey” is just a label

      • Anti what?….Anti dweeb …yes well…. you got that right and i make no apologies…
The person lacking in substance is Seymour and there is plenty of evidence to support that.
Just go back and look at some of his previous interviews and match what he has said with what has actually happened.
If he had had his way 20,000 more Kiwis would be dead from Covid by now.

      • If you look up the Otago Daily Times 11/ 8 2021 Seymour is there spouting forth with all his wisdom that the borders need to open up next year regardless of vaccination levels and fortress N.Z shouldn’t be protecting the unvaccinated.

The idiocy is mind numbingly breathtaking. No mention of the hospitals being swamped or people dying in their homes due to over capacity or the number of sick completely crippling all the businesses that he supposedly cares so much about.

There are many other examples of his idiocy, but there he is on T. V, spouting rubbish because the silver spooners put him there.

People like him are an absolute danger to society !!

  4. David even complemented James Shaw, which was interesting. Maybe ACT and the Green s, Could work together in some areas ! He is a far more effective politician than Chris, probably because Luxton has to appeal to center voters and doesn’t understand how the Wellington bureaucracy works, as he has not been in Parliament long, compared to Seymour.

  5. Not sure about dumping on Luxon…stating that ACT and National need to share, sounds like MMP to me…

    • I think your article sums up NACT alliance best in one sentence Idiocracy:

Evaluating the morality of the tax agenda implemented by Brownback with a consequentialist analysis yields a similar conclusion to that reached in the previous section, as such an approach reveals that these policies hardly fit in a supposedly Democratic society since they sacrifice the welfare of greater public for the unnecessary improvement of the elite few.

Thanks for this article which clearly shows that ACT and National are an alliance for the elite and not for the greater good of a democratic society.

Hubert Humphrey spoke about the treatment of the weakest members of society as a reflection of its government: “the moral test of government is how that government treats those who are in the dawn of life, the children; those who are in the twilight of life, the elderly; those who are in the shadows of life; the sick, the needy and the handicapped.”

Doesn’t matter how much smarmy blue and yellow glitter Seymour sprinkles on the turd of neoliberalism, it’s still a turd.

  6. Pfffffffft, Que Sera Sera. It’s now the only thing you can be sure of. And let it happen sooner rather than later. I’m running out of life to be able to witness it.

  7. It’s starting to reach the point where one starts looking at the policies of other party’s and although plenty of ACT’s are not good, a few Seymour mentioned today make good sense.

Then you balance that with Labours achievements of (or lack thereof) and use that as gauge for their next 3 years. Not flash.

And who may be in bed with Labour next to prop them up and those party’s policies. Te Pati Maori’s announcement this weekend of “decolonisation”, for example gives an insight into where that party are headed.

All of that combined is when the opposition parties like ACT start looking distinctly viable, to there point that you’re willing to overlook their bad policies with the ones the resonate for the greater good because the alternative is even worse!

    • So how does his dropping of the tax rate for the rich coincide with Nationals tax cuts. The rest of ACTs policies border on dangerous.
Your dislike of leftwing politics has been noted for a number of years X-Ray so nothing really to see here.
You could look at Te Pati Maori’s good policies or the Greens and Labours good policies for balance as you have with ACT.

  8. Ok everyone, let’s go back to the interview with Rebecca. So is Seymour a dick or is he a smart fox?

  9. ” I have been pointing this out for sometime, the Left must find policy that makes a material difference to Kiwis lives at a time of immense economic anxiety ”

Bomber what left are you talking about ?

Greens ? they are compromised and not the left alternative they once were with Donald , Bradford , Fitzsimmons , Locke and the others.

The only MP that could lead a real revival and appeal to the next generation of voters and many others is Chloe with the environmental , social justice gravitas of opposing and exposing the current cruel economic policies that are destroying so many good people in this country.
