  1. So is NZ getting set-up for a ‘Fire Sale?”

With 3 Waters coming at $185b to fix. And other infrastructure also to coming in with hefty price tags. The NZ government cant afford to pay for it let alone local councils who are buried in $12b+ of debt collectively.

And with the state of no houses have been built in sufficient quantity to solve the housing shortage problem in NZ for at least the last 20+ years, while 27,000 people get crammed into motel rooms at a cost of $1m per day.

Remember Christchurch has cost more than $40b to fix after the 2010 earthquake(s) and it’s still not finished!

It looks like some bright spark might have come up with the idea of being the handmaiden to Blackrock Inc.
BR Inc is an American multinational investment management corporation based in New York City, worth $10t.
A bunch of these New York dudes came here on a ride-along with Obama in 2020. Larry Fink was held up in a hotel in Australia talking to the Big 5 Australian Banks at the same time.

    https://www.nzsuperfund.nz/news-and-media/new-zealand-superannuation-fund-appoints-existing-manager-blackrock-four-new-mandates/

In 2013 Blackrock was given the green light to plunge New Zealands SuperAnnuation fund. And now it looks like Auckland Councils Panuku who is in charge of selling everything and anything that isn’t bolted down! Panuku has hooked up with the NZSF too!

    https://ourauckland.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz/news/2022/06/eke-panuku-and-nz-super-fund-form-landmark-investment-partnership/

Now, Panukus’ Chairman Paul Majurey has said that Panuku and Auckland council are not a provider of Social Housing. Google Panuku v John Tamihere at the Human Rights Tribunal this year.

He also knocked back some big housing developments in south Auckland in Takanini, Drury and further out. Well over 15,000 houses.

Then there is the state of Aucklands CBD. Building owners are all about to cash-in and sell their shops and buildings as well as major investors in the property market for offices and shops are getting ready to bail because of all the construction work, and the effects of covid and 40% of the CBD workforce is working from home. The city is dead and is ready for a ‘Fire Sale!’

So, who is best placed to manage this transition between Blackrock Inc and the city of Auckland? Is it the chairman of Panuku? The NZS fund and his influence with local government, central government and business leaders?

With the onset of the Inflation & Debt Bubble, the GFC MKII about hit NZ.
Prices will tank in these sectors and who has the capital to scoop it all up!?

There’s more. The devolution of Authoritys and Regulatory Powers, the unwinding of Conservation legislation recently announced by David Parker and Kiri Allan where at least 5 pieces of “Conservation” legislation are on the chopping block!

What Parker & Allan are proposing is to repeal/terminate these (Acts), and replace them all with one piece of legislation.

    Specially protected areas

    19 Conservation & Reservations Act
    20 Wilderness areas
    21 Ecological areas
    22 Sanctuary areas
    23 Watercourse areas
    23A Amenity areas
    23B Wildlife management areas

Making NZ and international investors and developers ‘wet dream’ in a de-regulated environment and decision-making is decided by Co-Governance committees by non-elected people or/and appointed council officials who will be given Statutory and Regulatory Powers and Authorities.

Lil ole NZ is up for Sale!

    • Thanks Tane for that informative comment. It makes me gag though. Next time could we have some good news? I frankly don’t expect any but being hopeful is what simpletons often are. I regularly feel very simple.

  2. This from another post today on TDB. We befuddle ourselves with our conflicting loyalties and immoderate fixations on particular countries and groups both positive and negative.

In June 1967, the USS Liberty was stationed in international waters off the Sinai Peninsula at the time of the Six Day War. Israeli fighter jets and torpedo boats fired on the Liberty for 2 hours, killing 34 sailors, wounding 173 others and nearly sinking the ship. The Liberty attempted to radio for assistance, but Israeli aircraft blocked the transmissions. Eventually, the ship was able to make contact with the U.S. Carrier Saratoga. Fighter jets were dispatched to defend the Liberty. When word of their deployment reached Washington, however, Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara ordered them to return to the Saratoga…

Israel admitted attacking the Liberty but claimed that they thought it was an Egyptian ship. President Johnson accepted the Israeli explanation and cancelled investigations. “We will not embarrass an ally” the President said.
The surviving crew members were sworn to secrecy. The attack on the USS Liberty has been buried.
