Sums it up nicely except I believe that USA has long silo’d nukes within a striking range of a minute or two of Moscow. Even in 1962 the Cuba missile crisis was typical US hypocrisy.
and because krushchev covered JFKs arse by allowing the USA to withdraw their missiles from turkey later without making it obvious it was the quid pro quo it was..the turkish missiles being the start of the issue in the first place.
USA has been dabbling in Ukraine for a long time, all over the natural gas pipeline through to Europe.
yup jane after specifically promising NATO would not advance eastwards when the soviets pulled out..the russians are more than a little miffed at that particular betrayal as they didn’t want this exact situation to develop even way back then.
