This isn’t Tikanga, it’s Critical Race Theory – Woke scramble to set narrative in Judge vs Oranga Tamariki fiasco

The speed with which the Woke are moving to re-establish narrative control in the Judge vs Oranga Tamariki fiasco highlights how deep the movement has manifested in the Public Service.

Let’s remind you of the holy trinity of woke identity politics dogma.

All white people are irredeemable racists, all men are rapists and anyone defending free speech is a uniform wearing Nazi.

In the name of the non-binary mother, non-binary daughter and the monthly ghost.

There’s no wriggle room in this critical race and gender theory. Despite the immediate upgrade in the young Maori girls physical, emotional and psychological well being provided by the white step-family, woke Dogma commands no Maori child could be successfully raised with white parents.

Jacinda must be hoping Covid keeps breaking out to hide this story.

Rather than be shocked at the scale and scope of lies used by Oranga Tamariki to enforce critical race theory dogma above the welfare of a young Maori girl placed with a white step-family, the woke scramble to reset the debate as a powerful white man bullying a young woman to tears in the dock…

Judge’s questioning – ‘She was in the box, just crying’

TDB Recommends NewzEngine.com

She says if the general public saw an older man addressing a younger woman like that they would be shocked, and that this highlights the need for a “proper” judicial complaints process.

…Surely though being caught out being so maliciously ideological to the point you have been busted in Court lying would make you burst into tears?

It is extraordinary in the extreme that the identity politics devotees will attempt to ignore the deceit used to remove a Maori child from a white step-family to paint this as a intersectionist power struggle between the  heteronormative white cis male patriarchy and post MeToo feminism.

I mean, come on. The Judge may well have been mean and the Social Worker crying isn’t pleasant, but look at the eye watering evidence that questioning produced!

Sweet Jesus, the young Maori girls psychologist was as clear as clear can be, that removing her from the white step-family she had bonded with and flourished with and had been told she would remain with, to remove her now after years with that white step-family would risk all the positive growth the young Maori girl had exhibited with the white step family!

To place woke critical race theory above the welfare of the girl because white = bad is dogma at its most book burning, this is not Tikanga!

Look, of course at the point of a Maori child uplift from a dangerous family environment, you absolutely want Iwi involved to find and resource whanau but that’s not what is happening here, in these cases woke critical race theory is eclipsing the welfare of the child. In these cases Oranga Tamariki is taking back Maori children who have been told they are remaining permanently with white step-parents and then being ripped from those homes because a white family could never raise healthy Maori children.

Note Oranga Tamariki didn’t even provide any resources to help the white step-family engage their child in Maori culture yet that was the deciding factor in taking the child!

When dogma is eclipsing the welfare of children who have already been placed, heads must roll!

How many other white step-families is this happening to? We know Newsroom are gagged from talking about another case that involves white step-families and the taking back of 4 Maori children.

To watch the woke hide the enormity of their Critical Race Theory failures and attempt to turn this into a patriarchy issue would be funny but the attempt to intervene in Judicial independence is a game not even the woke can side step…

Judge lauded for rebuking his seniors in Oranga Tamariki case

The prospect of a judge raising concerns with another member of the bench while proceedings were ongoing was “constitutionally repugnant,” top human rights lawyer Tony Ellis said after revelations of irregular actions in a high-stakes Oranga Tamariki case

Another human rights lawyer, Michael Bott, was equally critical of any attempt to interfere in a case, saying there were proper ways to raise concerns about a hearing.

Their comments came after news that the then-chief executive of Oranga Tamariki, Sir Wira Gardiner, contacted Chief District Court Judge Heemi Taumaunu and the Principal Family Court Judge Jackie Moran. He raised concerns with them about the manner in which Family Court Judge Peter Callinicos had questioned Oranga Tamariki staff in a custody hearing.

Sir Wira appeared to have been concerned about the way the judge questioned social workers during the first part of the hearing, held in March. He claimed that Judge Callinicos had “bullied” Oranga Tamariki staff giving evidence at the hearing, according to documents obtained by Stuff.

…Labour will be praying Covid lockdown distracts Kiwis from this mind numbing Oranga Tamariki woke racism because if this gets picked up by Talkback it’s all over rover.

  1. So let’s frame this another way. How about: Critical Race Theory extremists deliberately embark upon a course of action to ensure that a little girl learns from an early age that (a) adults cannot be trusted to keep their word and (b) the practices of the department responsible for children’s well-being show the department believes white people are bad, and cannot be trusted to provide a wholesome environment for Maori children.

The happiness of the child is irrelevant. Statistically her future is already blighted, and she may end up being a criminal, drug addict, alcoholic, prostitute, or all. The Critical Race Theory extremists can then cry “Racism”, and use her sad plight as proof that New Zealand is a racist society. That they themselves may be racist does not matter to them, their efficacy depends upon being victims, or portrayed as victims.

Sinister ? So is the divisiveness being fostered in society right now, for whatever purposes.

  2. I don’t think there is anything to stop critical race theory’s onslaught in NZ. That’s depressing but true.

The UK has a flourishing media of different stripes and a Conservative Government to take the edges off, although they’re still losing ground. The US has very strong free speech rights and powerful opposition, but also still losing ground.

NZ has….nothing. No institution of any strength to push back – and everything gradually gets subsumed into a single narrative till we’re terrified of being called racist.

The brilliance of it that it doesn’t do a frontal attack, it distracts and confuses. It says that isn’t CRT, its not racism – your questions reveal your white fragility and clinging to patriarchial repressive power. Instead, they call it inclusion/cultural sensitivity/Te Triti principles. “A journey” (one you have no choice over, or can ever challenge).

Once in that category, its taboo.

Sure, some rebel like Martyn and the odd judge and academic, pissing in the wind, but it’s inevitable. And yes, Covid-19 has accelerated it due to a complaint, docile population and media-for-pay by the Government.

    • Critical race theory is organised and being funded worldwide to keep the status quo.

The farmers only got outraged when the ute tax popped up which would stop oil profits so it’s probably organised from overseas involvement. It’s no secret that the oil industry has been behind climate change denial and lack of progress across the world.

As for Oranga Tamariki, the salient point is, what resources did Oranga Tamariki provide to the Pakeha caregivers the child??? Zero. And that is why they have such bad statistics, practicality is gone and it’s become a paper based Kafka bureaucracy which statistically has more harm being done to kids in it’s care than with the abusive parents!

Meanwhile not bothering to uplift childen in danger as they obsess about their tick box criteria and arse covering workarounds. https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/revealed-social-worker-downgrades-cyfs-response-weeks-before-baby-royal-killed-by-surender-mehrok-in-tauranga/KVZIXNAAATWICCPUDST67GSQIU/

    • I have learnt that you just have to accept (if you are Pakeha) that if you state your mind often someone who doesn’t agree will label you a racist (whether you are or aren’t or even whatever you are talking about has anything to do with race) . . it is just a word after all and is now being used as a device by the self-appointed woke police to censor anything they don’t like.
It essentially comes down to a choice between servitude or being called a racist from time to time . .

    • That’s frighteningly accurate Gordon. For example, we don’t have any proper conservative parties – the Nats are only interested in money, and ACT are mostly frivolous libertarians (though to be fair Seymour has put up a robust defence of free speech, and has criticized He Puapua).

This virus has infected all our institutions – and NO I’m not talking about covid. As you’ve possibly heard, the authors of the new NCEA curriculum think one of the must-haves for “science” classes is learning about how wicked white people have been.

      • How wicked white people have been implies they are no longer wicked when some still are and always will be as some can’t help it as its is in their DNA.

        • Oh, the wickedness is in the white people’s DNA. Why don’t you just say the wickedness is in their “blood” ! And would they have to be full white DNA to be wicked?

        • Michelle – Criminologists would be interested to see the evidence for your astonishing assertion. Criminal lawyers would be too, as it provides a ready- made excuse for the white criminals who they defend. Do tell.

So what’s the excuse for everyone else running amok out your way but not afflicted with wicked white DNA ? Do tell.

        • When you think that DNA is wicked, then it’s a slippery slope to eradication, re-education and genocide.

The problem is that attitude seems to be spreading to government departments and employees who are empowered in their racism by the woke, spreading it!

          • saveNZ. That chap Adolf Hitler talked the way that covid is pa does, and he unleashed horrific wickedness upon the whole world in doing so, and New Zealanders subsequently lost their lives, and crippled their lives and their futures fighting against the evil of Nazism.

  3. If you ever have the satisfaction of giving a bully at taste of his own medicine you will quickly hear whimpering.
Oranga Tamariki staff obviously enjoy dishing it out but not taking it. They routinely harass vulnerable families but cannot stand vigorous challenges by an authority figure in court.
Incidentially I thought taking an oath to tell the truth and then lying was a criminal offence( perjury)? I thought people could be locked up for it.
Mind you that would mean a few cops in jail.
Oranga Tamariki is something like the medieval church. People’s suffering here on earth does not matter as long as their immortal souls are saved for Almighty Wokedom.

  4. Let’s wait and see how this is resolved ; Pretty clear it has gone too far. This might be a goodthing in the end so long as the uplift is not successful.

  5. With the way, Delta is cutting ‘them’ down at an unprecedented rate. They could all become wiped out! A part of history very soon.

Delta is taking out the under ’30s; two-thirds of the virus detected are under 30. Gen Y&Z and a few mels.

    • That’s right! ‘They’ are vulnerable and at heightened risk so throw money at ‘them’. Problem is, who gets the cash and what is it used for? I know it’s all ‘our’ fault ‘they’ are vulnerable due to ‘our’ privilege. Delta sure is taking out a layer of ‘everyone’. I’m getting back under my bed and waiting to be up lifted. It’s all I can hope for!

  6. I find this case very problematic. I don’t believe kids are uplifted from their parents without very, very good reasons. Clearly a sibling of the little girl has been uplifted too.
She is in a secure, seemingly loving environment and her foster parents seem prepared to go through a court process to keep her. Who on earth could think it was a good idea to remove this child?

    • The flawed reverse racist Oranga Tamariki system, where suddenly in some social workers, pakeha are bad parents, unless they virtue signal constantly and micro aggressions are more of a threat than neglect, insecurity and abuse. I have no idea who white people are supposed to be either as culturally everybody is different even if they are somehow branded ‘white’, and most people in the world are multi racial including probably this girl, who they uplifted. Highly likely she has pakeha roots as well as Maori roots and she should be encouraged to identify with both so she does not fall fowl of the new identity crisis sweeping the world.

  7. Thanks very much for keeping this in the public eye, Martyn. it’s the thin edge of a very large wedge.
The Newsroom story you linked to seems to promote the idea that a young (but adult) woman crying in court is more important than the life chances of a severely traumatised child.
The woman will undoubtedly get over her tears; the child quite likely won’t get over the destruction of trust that taking her away from loving foster parents will mean.
The writers report the birth mother’s lawyer saying: “If the general public saw an older man addressing a younger woman like that they would be shocked.”
Actually, they would be much more shocked at how a child’s life has been a plaything of ideology in the form of CRT.

  8. CRT is an absolute cancer

When the NZ All Whites announced they were looking at changing their name the statement they posted reeked of CRT thinking.Anything “white” is problematic these days, even playing in an All White kit is apparently too much for some.

Then of course if you stated that if “all whites” is racist then surely so too is “all blacks” …but no that will be thrown back in your face because according to CRT only white people are capable of being racists.

Now speaking of racism, what about the Maori All Blacks?

Or how about we just stop with this antagonistic CRT bollocks and iinstead strive for unity?

  9. Hey Mr Bradbury,

Not sure why you call yourself a socialist, look at the types of people it associates you with. Critical Race Theory is propagated by those trained in Marxists tactics.

Saying all that, I really respect your coverage of issues like these. They’re EXTREMELY important issues and the lack of coverage in the MSM lends credence to the MSM having been brought off by Labour.

The Daily Blog has covered some really important issues the past 12 months, I’m so impressed by you AT TIMES lol. Bring back a Waatea 5th Estate like show. When Damien Grant and yourself interview guest it’s honestly a great write/listen [Magic Talk]!

Since Mr Grant and yourself represent the Left and the Right, maybe you could call your show “Half Right”. I was told some newspapers use to publishing left-wing-views in the left column, juxtaposed by the right-wing-view in the right column.

Though I believe the only good government is God’s government and ‘left’ and ‘right’ and tripe concepts – free-speech and the honest challenging of ideas is so very important.

  10. I was interested to read that the lawyer of the mother of this child was the only one who wanted this judge to be removed. Maybe there is more going on here than we know about and it is a great tragedy that the mother has lost her child for whatever reason. She still visits her …and maybe wants her back, we do not know. We do know that OT remove children, even babies, from their parents once those parents are identified as being at risk without any other reason – the shocking baby uplifts, remember. It seems strange to me too, on reflection that the foster mother was supervising the child’s visit with her mother, and apparently wiped the child’s hands of marmite with a wet wipe. Hmm this scenario does not play very nicely in my mind when the child is spending time with her natural mother, think about it. I do not think the foster mother should be the supervisor when the child is spending time with her mother, and the above scenario could well be racist and aggressive in the context. Who knows. Certainly the reason OT have given to remove the child from her white foster parents are crazy. But, what is really going on here.

    • Yes, basically they have put the care of a child in the hands of lawyers. Two to three opposing lawyers and that is where a lot of the conflict, arse covering and money is going.

The child will have their own state paid lawyer, the biological parents will have their own state paid lawyer (as they are likely on legal aid) and then the poor caregivers have to get their own lawyer which no doubt they pay for.

While not against lawyers being in the mix, apparently this creates a money-go-around where dysfunctional people can stop their neglected children’s ability to move forward for years and interject into their lives for the rest of their kids lives. It becomes about the biological parents, that the children were take away from, but this has a good historical precedent (aka stolen generation). The problem is, the current system is too geared towards the biological parents rights and not the ability to stop harm to the child and caregivers and years of insecurity for the child while the lawyers duke it out.

Oranga Tamariki had big mistakes and generalisations in their report and that causes a huge part of the problem. The judge should have full support to challenge these bogus OT reports! This is a child were are talking about, and their future depends on these reports! They need to be accurate and not wokified fiction.

It would help if OT were required to ONLY have qualified and properly supervised staff such as being registered pychologists who have the ability to read complex situations correctly. The big problem with OT is that the woke dysfunctional system (not grounded enough in practicality and future prospects and damage of children) seem to be able to pull the wool over OT eyes and instead OT goal should be the future prospects of the children who deserve to have a say in whether they see their parents or not!

      • SaveNZ That’s this little girl being looked out for. But there’s no way of knowing how many other children have been traumatised by Oranga Tamariki in a similar way; many foster parents couldn’t afford to go to lawyers, or wouldn’t want to go the media – some may be as shattered as the children.

God help the children – the happiness of this child v the ideology of O T is a surreal ask.

        • I just hope the judge is onto it. Why give this child to be fostered by pakeha parents and then take it away a few years later because in the eyes of a OT worker, whose report seems to have some holes and inaccuracies, that their cultural needs are not met? Surely OT knew they were Pakeha in the first place, and wouldn’t it be Oranga Tamariki’s responsibility that they make sure that the Childs needs are met by helping the foster parents with the cultural needs (such as organising Te Reo classes) or maybe this is woke baloney.

They are putting some of these kids in jails now, because they have no foster care workers to place kids into. I wonder why!!!!!!

In addition some of their care facilities seem to be abusive so why take away a child who apparently is happy, for such a stupid reason.
          https://www.newsroom.co.nz/childrens-commissioner-wants-investigation-into-violent-attacks-on-kids-in-state-care

I have a friend who is fostering a child from Oranga Tamariki. They said if they knew it would be difficult with all the legal issues and the drugged out family members popping up and delaying the hearings constantly, they would never have fostered the child!

Also sounds like they are also financially worst off as they do their best to care for the child (they are not rich and work very hard) so must be grating to see what they estimate $500,000 going to lawyers involved in the case, while they struggle to make ends meet and get a small stipend not covering costs, and they are the ones looking after the child!

Help seems to be easy to get for people who play the system and suit the woke agenda, and very hard to find, for genuine people, trying to do their best and help someone and society.

Nobody is ever perfect enough, in the woke space!

          • Yep. Know someone who agreed to foster three Samoan children in the same family to keep them together – and I don’t think child welfare worried about the ethnicity issues there.

Cultural super-sensitivities are big business with politicians, govt depts, and city councils – who have the time and luxury to indulge themselves – while everybody else gets on with the work of living – and that’s maybe ok, except when there’s other agendas which cause hurt, as with this poor wee girl.

            • Yep self indulgence everywhere, including the woke gold standards of housing, where the think being homeless or in a dangerous, gang controlled, 1 bedroom motel, is better than a state house, because it is ‘warm and dry’. I just wish Marama and Jacinda would be forced to live in one of their motel slums or emergency housing new builds for 1 month with their family, to bring home some sense of reality that ‘warm and dry’ is not more important than being a human battery hen in a human colony cage, and safety and mental health is more important than a woke tick box.

  11. There is a lot we don’t know about this case but the judicial interference and departmental interference is appalling and Gardiner has taken leave. Interference with a judge is the kind of corruption that calls for resignations. Will Gardiner, Moran and Taumaunu end up resigning?

The other thing I wonder about is have Oranga Tamariki placed Pakeha, Asian, South American and African children with Maori foster parents? Do they? Would they? Would it break their ‘racist separatist ideology’ to do so or not? Some journalist needs to bluntly ask OT their policy on placing a Chinese or Pakeha child with a Maori family?

      • I chatted with a mainland China friend about this a few years ago, when unwanted Chinese babies were being adopted, especially by Americans. As you probably know, the Chinese are very proud people, and historically more cognisant of the importance of family relationships than others may be. He said Chinese were very happy to see the children being given the chance to better their lives. The USA was seen as a Mecca – whereas previously Russia had been, and school kids who had previously studied Russian all now studied English. Any cultural concerns didn’t seem to be a problem.

        • Again there are huge complexities in these cases. If they have little hope in their own countries then it can be best, but sadly often it becomes a scam where money is exchanged, sexual abuse rings and so forth become involved.

In addition many who adopt the children (just like ordinary parents) find they are ill equipt emotionally and it’s not the sunshine and roses that they were expecting and regret adopting the child.

Anything to do with children needs to be both practical and bespoke, because every case is different. Trying the neoliberal model of tick boxing with poorly paid and poorly resourced staff at OT, run by people who believe in neoliberal economics at OT management level and are not trained in social work, is part of the problem.

OT staff should at least be supervised by qualified psychologists who are NZ trained as it is a culturally applicable discipline! Something has to change there because we are getting very poor outcomes for many NZ kids in care.

Even the small kids are frightened of OT decisions by the looks of it, judging by the Waikato hospital case.

  12. How wicked white people have been implies they are no longer wicked when some still are and always will be as some can’t help it as its is in their DNA.

  13. NZ is turning into a woke police state, like the US, where middle class parents are now considered and investigated for empowering their children such as letting them walk to school, the park or walk the dog, while social services/police are called and rushed to the scene to arrest them for child endangerment and their kids taken away.

True story, in USA only 13% of children walk to school, one of the reasons is that the woke when seeing a child walking to school, ring the police and social services who then were prosecuting the parents.

Your kids can walk to school alone again

It’s so bad in the US now for woke behaviour,

  14. Wait for the onslaught of woke OT cases, as like the US the woke teachers start to unleash their frustrations on parents! The rise of the woke workload!

Woke teachers, complain to woke Oranga Tamariki who complaint to woke police, all creating hellish amounts of paperwork while real teaching, abuse and crimes go unsolved!
